I went in Monday night for the$11 steak special. I was a little sceptical but ordered it with roasted potatoes. The meal came and I was pleasantly surprised. A 10oz strip steak and a generous portion of roasted potatoes. Tax,tip meal all for $15. I recommend anyone looking for a Monday night meal...head over to the Black River Tavern More...

My boyfriend and I don’t tend to splurge too often but we decided to tonight when going here. He got pizza and I got ribs. First we watched the pizza sit in the window done for at least 30 minutes before it came. When it finally came to the table and he tried eating it, all the cheese and pepperoni fell off it and the dough was so soggy. So you couldn’t even eat it without it all falling apart into a big mess and then it tasted and smelled gross when he finally got around to using his fork. My ribs were no better unfortunately. They just tasted bad and were cold. Never got refills. We got the chips for the appetizer and they were really good and we really wanted to like this place but it just wasn’t a good experience. We have been here twice the food is very good and the waitress that we had the first time and the second time our very own attentive they’re terrible I will never go back simply because of how bad the waitresses are and I’m sure there’s good ones there I never seem to get them

Wow! Rich and I agree. That was the best meal we have ever had. Neither of us could decide which item on our plates was the best. We both mmmmmmed every bite we took. The steaks were done to perfection, just the way we enjoy them, and they melted in our mouth. The lobster was superlative, I , and the potatoes were fantastic. We made reservations for a party of 20 and we only had one waitress. She was so polite and professional as she took our orders. Did an amazing job of serving and making us feel blessed. The food was awesome and plenty of it for the price. My suggestion is to have more help because our guests wanted to pay and go and that took a while for one waitress. I had eaten at the Tavern in the summer months after it first opened. Last night 12/27/19 I was there with two girl friends to celebrate our friendship. Two of us had perused the menu online and I decided what I would order but I was told it wasn’t available despite being online. So I settled on the Pitching Wedge. One friend ordered the steak salad an the other a pasta and meatball dish. My friend who ordered the steak salad was disappointed because her steak was full of grizzle. My Pitching Wedge was served on an enormous square plate, where two clumps or romaine, which looked like they came straight from the bag were on the plate. I had ordered mine without bacon. There was very little blue cheese and the candied pecans mentioned were very sparingly sprinkled around, probably less than a teaspoon. The server asked us about our meals my friend and I commented. A manager came by to address the issue. My friend’s check was adjusted, but mine was not. I had ordered Prosecco with my meal which totaled 22.42. My parents were members of SVCC years ago and the area holds some warm memories. Too bad I won’t be back to the tavern any time soon. Too pricey and lackluster food. Two of us were dissatisfied but my other girlfriend enjoyed her pasta and meatball dish. The server was friendly and efficient. That was the bright spot of our meal. More...
