The service is slow but the food is good. The prices are decent. The average dinner was about $13.00 each and that's a meat and 2 sides. Huge portions I might add. The portions are generous, wings were juicy and large. Similar to BBQ wings, but not sure why called Parmesan wingettes. I didn't taste any Parmesan but they were still great. Corn Bread was moist and collards greens and cabbage were seasoned just right. I just tried BK Soul Food for the first time I've been living in Yonkers for the last couple of months. I read all the reviews and to be honest was skeptical since the reviews where mixed. I ordered a fried fish sandwich. It was delicious fish was seasoned well and fresh. I can't wait to try one of there entrees next. This is what this side of Yonkers needs a good Soul Food Spot. I have visited here often since they opened and the quality of the food is amazing. In that area there is not many different options of food so this restaurant is a breath of fresh air. Found it off of google even though we always passed it, never know it was there. Decided to go and the staff was friendly and warm. I passed this place a few months ago while on my way home. I was shocked to see that it was a soul food restaurant. I said I was going to try it and finally got around to it yesterday. The staff behind the counter greeted my husband and I upon entering. We placed our orders and sat at one of their tables. It appeared that most staff were on their way home and one of the gentlemen (maybe the father) thanked us for coming. It took about 25 minutes for the our meals to be prepared. I ordered fried chicken, mac and cheese with collard greens. It also came with a cornbread. My husband ordered their rice and peas, bbq ribs and potato salad. He said that his food was good. (Sorry didn't get to take a picture.) For me the mac and cheese and cornbread were good but lukewarm. I expected the mac and cheese to be hot and cheesy. I felt it could've used a bit more cheese and it also had a slight buttery taste. (Warming it up the next day it was cheesy and didn't have that buttery taste at all. Guess because it was hot.) The collard greens and chicken were so good. The chicken was seasoned well and was crispy!Overall, I would definitely come here again. I feel the food was reasonably priced and tasted pretty good. Love this family owned business! Glad to see REAL soul food in the neighborhood. The portions are great! The sides are amazing. And I DO mean GREAT collars greens! I luv that the Matriarch of the family is on-site frequently and her short ribs are the best! The staff are all family and I appreciate that they are of all ages. I have never gone to a restaurant where I loved the food the first time. I go back and love it even more the next time. I have been to many upscale southern restaurants in NY and the food is a disgrace. This place is not upsxale but the food is Goooood. The meals I have ordered here were the fried pork chop, fried fish, and fried shrimp. The sides I have had are the colard greens, mac and cheese, sweet potato fries, and regular fries. Everything I have mentioned was amazing. I suggest to go on a week day because for some reason the food is better. I have to say they didnt do much justice with the candy yams. I didn't like them.
