Estes Park is a lovely little community adjacent to the National Park but it’s a little bit of a food and culture desert. Bird & Jim is the oasis you are looking for if you desire a little food sophistication with a farm to table rustic menu and fabulous, knowledgeable service that you might expect to leave behind when coming from a larger city market ! This little casual bistro was an after-hike meal for us. But they delivered way more than mountain cuisine - we were surprised and delighted to find a whole menu of exceptional entreés, a well stocked wine cabinet, and extra-mile service from the house side. We went for a full course meal - half bottle of wine, trout with ratatouille, plantain tart, coffee in a French press. They did not miss a trick. The ratatouille was so good we ordered an extra serving so the kids could taste it. The tart had distinct hints of both basil and lavender.
