Billy Clower

BCDS is an amazing place of dance. My daughter has been dancing at Billy Clower since 2010. I have personally witnessed the growth of the studio since reopening and undergoing new ownership under Val Paris. The assembly of the "Crew", a new hip hop group with dancers of all ages has been the highlight for my daughter. Val and her wonderful instructors have made it possible for the dancers and the "Crew" to participate in talent shows, dance competitions and parades. I can not express how much my child LOVES dancing at BCDS, and how proud we are as a family to be affiliated with such an amazing dance studio. Billy Clower has been a blessing for our family. We started here because my daughter wanted to dance mid-season and we couldn't find a studio in Camarillo. We drive to Ventura 3 times a week because the teachers are kind and supportive and the owner, Val is perfect! Everyone there has been amazing. For example, Vincent, was my daughters teacher but isn't anymore, but that doesn't stop him from chatting with me and checking in on my daughter. Kelli and Angie are endlessly working with us- reaching out on their own time to help answer questions and work on skills. Sydney is fun and passionate and although my daughter is very new to Cheer, she feels encouraged and has a smile every time she leaves class. She improves at her own speed and is IN LOVE with dance/cheer. She has met great friends there who she looks forward to dancing with. Finally, the owner, Val... oh how I love her!  Her whole family takes part in making BC run smoothly. They are awesome! She has a calm about her that makes everyone feel at home. Really, it's a family environment- it's even located in a converted family home! Excellent, Excellent, Excellent! I'm so happy to see that the Billy Clower Dance Studio is still going strong! I took Tap & Ballet lessons from Diana, (Billy Clower's daughter), in the mid 80's. My older siblings took lessons too. Such a warm, positive, family-friendly place.  I have been really impressed by this studio's down-to-earth approach to dance.  They teach fundamentals really well and set high expectations without losing perspective.  The studio and the teachers realize that most of their dancers are the for the love of dance and to be with friends.  It seems that other studios are far more competitive, where this one is comfortable and a great place for kids to explore their interest without undue pressure.  As the mom of a boy, I have appreciated the studio's welcoming atmosphere for boys in dance.  Watching the Hip Hop, I have been glad that the costumes and routines are generally fun and comfortable and not highly sexualized as they are at other studios I have seen.  Overall, an extremely family-friendly studio, a great place for kids to get acquainted with dance and some hard work. My visiting kinda-grand-daughter loved their Mary Poppins theme Musical Theater Camp. They kept the kids busy and she came home exhausted every day. This studio offers so many classes for a wide range of ages.The owner and her family are very sweet and personable and have sought after an array of talent to keep the classes enticing. They always have new and innovative concepts that help to introduce the dance culture to all levels of experience. The atmosphere is fun, friendly and welcoming. I personally enjoy Chinita aka Jasmine's hip hop classes that are known to fill to capacity so sign up early! Chinita also started a competition dance crew that has won various awards at local events and are known to put together a flash mob from time to time. When I came to this studio at the beginning of my sophomore year, I was inexperienced and uncoordinated; however I loved to dance and I wanted to test out my raw dancing abilities. As shy as I am, and as inexperienced as I was, I didn't fit into the group of established dancers that were there, and I felt alone at first. For those of you that are outgoing and ready from the get go to make new friends, you will do just that when you come to Billy Clower. However, if you find yourself to be more shy and reserved, then you may have a hard time when you first come to the studio. You may feel like the odd one out, and you may feel alone for a time. But I highly encourage you to stick with it; because it is an experience that you do not want to miss out on. I have had the time of my life at Billy Clower Dance Studio, and I could talk about the clean facilities and the quality of the studio and even its comfortable and convenient location, but those things pale in comparison to the incredible instruction and high-level education that you will receive from the teachers at Billy Clower. They are all highly trained and experienced in multiple styles of dance, and they are always ready and more than willing and happy to help you with anything. They value each and every student at the studio, and they love to encourage and help their students thrive. They make Billy Clower Dance Studio the incredible place that it is, and I am blessed to be able to be under their wise and excellent instruction. I have been at Billy Clower Dance Studio for almost 3 years now, and since my awkward first appearances at the beginning of sophomore year, I have become the assistant dance teacher at Foothill Technology High School under the instruction of Alison Teague; who teaches beginner and intermediate classes at Foothill, and who teaches multiple Jazz, Tap, and Zumba classes at the studio. I am also an assistant dance teacher to Jasmine Miranda in her Hip-Hop 1 class, who teaches all levels of Hip-Hop at the studio. I am well trained in Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, and Contemporary Jazz, and I have been steadily improving in Ballet. My experience at Billy Clower was a hard one at first. I struggled with being outgoing and social, and I still do. But when it came down to it, the only thing that really mattered was how hard I was willing to work. So I worked. I loved to dance and I dedicated my mind and my body to improving myself, and my teachers noticed. They never stopped encouraging me and helping me improve my technique, and the quality of my performance. Due to the Lord, their support, and my work, I thrived at Billy Clower, and made my presence known; and I have witnessed several other students do the same. I am a senior in high school now, and I will soon be leaving the studio and going to college; but I feel extremely confident in entering any college dance program because of the built up knowledge and experience that I have received at Billy Clower. I am sad to leave, but I feel prepared and hopeful for the future, and I know that the skills that I have acquired at Billy Clower will be with me for the rest of my life. So go give it a shot. I absolutely love this studio! My daughter has been a student for a while now, I'm glad to see her so energetic and enthused about what she learned that day. Seeing her excited to learn what she loves most is worth everything to me! The staff is ever so friendly and you can tell they are very knowledgeable. My daughter has been attending BC off and on for many years. In the last year it is under new ownership and Val is working hard to raise the caliber of dance while still maintaining a joy of dance. The studio strives for a diverse experience with jazz, tap, hip hop etc and their ballet program has really taken off. My daughter is very happy here and as a parent I love that this studio maintains a healthy balance - not overly focused on grueling performances and rehearsals. Great instructors. Fun! More...

I had my kids start in November. I believe that was when it was under new ownership. I don't know what happened in the past but I do know I'm so happy to have my girls learning dance at Billy Clower! My girls came from BAV. I did like BAV but wanted my girls to learn more other kinds of dance. They started with cheer. They just started tap and ballet combo class. The summer I will have them in hip hop:) The price of all they learn is amazing! I recommend this studio for any kid that wants to learn dance and feel like you are part of a family!
