Billingsgate Deli and Event Catering

Billingsgate is an excellent deli! I live pretty far away but whenever I go through the sea coast I make sure to stop in. Their meatball subs are to die for ! Prices are reasonable for the quality of food you get and the prompt, friendly service. I have also been to a few events they have catered and that food was really good as well. Delicious sandwiches with quality meats and cheeses.  I have to disagree with the other reviews regarding price. I think the price was right for the quality sandwiches I've had.  Great place for a quick lunch.

Yum. Yum. Yum. And, yum! My friend and I were roaming around a very chilly downtown Exeter when we stumbled upon Billingsgate and had to go inside to see what they had to offer. They make a variety of quirky and delicious sandwiches. We tried the Bronx Bomber (salami, brisket, swiss and coleslaw) and a huge piece of their vegetable lasagna. Wow. So delicious! We snarfed it down in the car once we had one bite. They also carry interesting items like spices to make your own hot toddy drinks (yes, I purchased it). The place was fairly busy but I felt like our order didn't take too long- I'm not sure how packed it gets at lunch time on a busy weekday though. Prices were a little higher than I'd normally spend but the food is worth it. The people behind the counter were super friendly and even knew some of the customers which I love to see. I (gasp) did not try the coffee but it looked like they had a few to choose from. This may be a must stop the next time we have an hour to kill wandering around Exeter! More...
