Bien Trucha is the original (and the best) of a family of restaurants by the same owner. You may have seen it featured on Check Please! and if you're local to the area, you've probably seen lines out on State Street waiting to get in and likely to enjoy their charming outdoor patio. While it's a small spot, their food packs a flavorful punch- be sure to get a sampler of salsas, be courageous enough to get the guacamole of the day (even if the flavors sound a little out there - you won't be disappointed), and make sure the Pastor and Bien Trucha tacos are a part of your order and you will leave happy. I've only had dinner here and I understand that their dinner and lunch menus are different. The dinner menu is limited, but it is all delicious. I've had 75% of the dinner menu and they are all unique takes on Mexican food. The food comes on platters and are meant to share. Chips and a bean dip come with the meal and are amazing. Super-tight seating. I felt like we were eating the people next to us. My daughter burned her arm on the candle on our table due to everything being so close together and no room on the table.
Service was good but be prepared to sit close and have little to no elbow room.
Update: Visited again on 6/12/18 and I have to say the food is excellent. Seating outside was not so tight. We are vegetarian and they were out of their veggie tacos which was disappointing. Updated review from 3 to 4 stars.

This was our first time going here. I looked at the reviews before going. It mentioned one of the top 10 best restaurants in the suburbs. Now I see why. Great ambiance with patio seating in the summer and decent prices with interesting authentic menu choices. Service was excellent. These servers cater to you and actually enjoy their position. I would stand in line for this place any day... If I didn't live in Chicago. My favorites are the guac of the day (last time they had watermelon and grapes-what? !? Amazing) and the mushroom tacos. The food is simply wonderful. They have a nice margarita selection as well. They accept limited reservations for one side and walk ins for the other. We arrived at 20min to 5pm and there were a couple groups already waiting. We were seated at 5:10pm and out the door by 5:45pm. Fast, friendly, and delicious! More...

First time there and our reservation was mixed up. The staff really tries their best to accommodate us and we're very apologetic. The food was amazing! Sharing tacos was a great idea. We had a little one and they made a kid friendly meal. It was quite loud if it's a place you are want to not have to scream over the music.
