Got a response from Tuathal at the Garfield Hotel. He emailed them asked for a convenient time to call, which he did. We discussed my concerns and he had been very thorough in his following up of this. Satisfactory conclusion has restored my faith that my once favourite family restaurant could be worth another visit. More...

I've stayed at many Best Westerns within the past decade, mostly for work.   But this one was for leisure, extending a work trip one more day to visit a friend in the San Jose area.   I had just left a Best Western in Sacramento and that one was just okay, but nothing exciting.  Brookside was my choice for next night due to a good price and location.  Upon driving up to the property, was pleasantly surprised.  Fresh asphalt parking lot, bubbling fountain, and a holiday-decked lobby.  The staff member was cheery and gave a quiet upper floor room on the small, newer auxiliary wing.   I opened the door to the room and thought, oh it's so nice, why wasn't my week in a Sacramento BW this nice?!After driving so much did not want to drive to a dinner restaurant, so walked across the street to the large strip mall.   There were numerous popular restaurants - Asian, Indian, Middle-Eastern, Chinese, Japanese, Hawaiian, Asian-fusion, Korean - it was the jackpot of dinner options.  I chose a Chinese noodle house - delicious!   Had never visited Milpitas before but will now remember it's a place to visit if you're hungry.  The hotel breakfast was served in a bar-dining room, again holiday decoration-bedecked, with food choices that exceeded other BWs.   Most BWs are just plain eating areas, but this one resembled a real restaurant.   The workout room in the hotel had a serious weight setup, and three exercise machines.  What was unusual was that there was also a sauna and a steam room.   I've not seen that in a BW before.    Wish I had been able to spend the past week in this BW hotel instead of Sacramento!    It is truly a good property for a reasonable price. I agree with the sentiment of other pet lovers staying here. Rooms were clean and well kept. The service at the reception was pleasant. Let me know of some chain restaurants open. It was Thanksgiving so slim pickings. The out door for our dog was fantastic. We were able to let our pup have a good off leash run. Would definitely stay here again on my way through. And this review within the first hour of our arrival which shows how impressed with this place. A lot of dog friendly hotels are not that well kept for people with dogs. More...

I've stayed here three times now. The staff has always been very friendly and helpful. On our most recent visit my family had some extra needs and they answered them all, most graciously. On our first night, I called down to ask if they had night lights we could pick up from the front desk. They answered of course and offered to bring them to our room. On our second night, my daughter threw up all over her bed. I called down to ask for fresh bedding. They promptly brought them to our room and took away the soiled linens. These are the kinds of things one should be able to expect in hospitality but nowadays it is hit or miss at most establishments. Not at the Best Western in Chico, where you can expect them to answer the phone and help you with a smile. More...

This Best Western south of Sacramento is a convenient location right off the highway in Lodi. And my most recent trip through proved that the location was key to my stay. A 100% Non Smoking property makes it nice as well as comfortable in regards to not smelling cigarette smoke anywhere inside the property. This is an older property and it appears to be in an updating phase as various fixtures were stacked about in the garage.Front desk staff were friendly helpful and professional in both my checking in and out. They both went out of their way to make I stay as nice as possible. There is a small covered parking garage under the hotel was a nice option with the extreme winds the evening of my stay it made getting in and out of the hotel and my car easier My King bed room was on the backside and in the corner of the building and it was very quite. A comfortable bed the room had laminate floors a minimalist interior and all the standard amenities you expect nowadays, fridge, coffee maker, hair dryer, etc. A nice full breakfast as well is included though I only had fruit, juice and coffee before hitting the road early that morning it was a much nicer offering than your standard "continental breakfast" and the breakfast room was spacious, clean and bright. 3.5 Stars - rounded up for the friendly front desk staff.Would stay again if ever needed while in the area.00643 More...

We just completed another great 2 week stay at our favorite 5 star hotel, on 10/30/19.  We greeted Meg Rowe, who is the accomplished Manager.  She is the heart of the hotel and and keeps everything running smoothly.  We also met new Staff at the front desk, including Joseph, Richard, and Zach.  All super folks and they do a terrific job.  Since our last stay, the hotel has made an important renovation by removing 2 slippery steps leading into the back entrance.  It is much safer now, with one beautiful walkway, with extra landscaping.  Customer service with cleaning staff is still top notch.  The breakfasts were delicious and it was nice seeing Chef Tony again, making his mouth watering omelettes.  All good, and we went to see Longwood Gardens, voted one of the best Botanical Gardens in the country. Staying at Best Western Plus opens up a whole lot of tourist attractions nearby that you may enjoy, so make your reservations now, because it is also a popular destination for weddings.  We look forward to returning in the Spring for another wonderful visit.  Here are some more photos.  The landscaping outside is magnificent.  The rooms are the most spacious, and the WiFi works seamlessly.Have a great time! FIVE STARS for Darlene at the front desk for keeping it all going on Sunday morning Oct. 27, 2019. " as we staggered into the lobby in various shell-shocked states of anxiety after being awakened at 4 AM with a unexpected Mandatory Evacuation order from the Kincade fires. And that was during the Carquinez Bridge Fire and the PGE outages. Oh my. Throughout it all, Darlene seamlessly shifted from guest to computer to phone to radio, reassuring us all that our day was about to improve. I came up to Claremont for a high school reunion, but all the hotels in the vicinity of the colleges were either expensive (Griswolds) or really bad reviews. This place is on Central right near 60, but it was cheap-ish ($115) and had fine reviews. It's a venerable old motor-court style hotel, that's been here many, many years and expanded to two more buildings.  Apparently there used to be a large pine tree, and when it came down in a windstorm they replaced it, but it's still a little tree.  There are a lot of palm trees, of course!I was upstairs near the entrance.  The room was spacious and clean, bed was fine, there were small square pillows, bathroom was excessively tiled.I took Uber up to the Claremont area - it was $15 each way plus tip. There was some partying noise nearby at 1am, and a bit of road noise, starting at dawn, but not enough to be a problem.  Temperature was perfect; I was going to turn on the fan for noise, but didn't bother.  I didn't try the pool but it looked nice.Breakfast was fine, I had pancakes and bacon and juice and a banana.  If that's not enough for you, there are plenty of fast food places nearby.Would stay here again. I've only been here 3 days (out of 33) so things may change but...So full disclosure, we live in Hawaii and we had this horrible flood at our house. So we needed a place to stay that would 1) have ADA accessible rooms and 2) take cats. BW met both of these, and is close to where we live, so it was really the only choice we had. We are very pleased. It is a hotel airport, so limited amenities, but we don't need those. We needed  clean rooms, pet friendly policy, and friendly staff. We've gotten all of those. The ADA accessible rooms are all in the tower, and the pet friendly rooms are all in the courtyard, where the old hotel is. The rooms are modern and clean. The staff is beyond helpful. I'm giving it 5 stars because it's exceeded any expectations I had for a hotel airport. Things I would have liked that it doesn't have: a more comfortable bed and a smart TV. But you can't have it all and really I'm very very happy. The staff makes the difference. They have been very helpful and accommodating. It's in walking distance to McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, iHop, Joe's, Christin's, and Balae. While writing this in the laundry facility that takes coins AND credit cards, a member of the staff helped an Aussie woman with change, even giving her some of his quarters to help her get soap.  I can't say enough nice things. We love Best Western because they have the best handicap accessible rooms around. This one was exceptional. The room was fabulous, with a big king size bed and a full-size handicap bathroom. The sink was outside the bathroom which made this much easier for both of us. The decor of the hotel is really lovely, and after staying in a $300 a night hotel in death Valley, this one was A treat by comparison and it was only $139 a night. We sat out by the fire pit and had a cocktail and looked at the view, then went into the dining room for an excellent meal. The food was enough for a family of four and all we did was share vegetarian fajitas and a green salad. Delicious but we could not eat at all. I highly recommend this place if you're going to the Grand Canyon as a stop over before getting to the Park. Oh, the staff is really nice and accommodating as well More...

We landed at 3 and got here quickly as it's close to the airport. Check in is at 4. They were still working on our room so no problem at all and front desk said they would call once it's ready. Got a call around 3:45 informing room is ready. She provided us a map to show us where the building is for our room. We had to walk two buildings down to the casa Del Mar building, which has a nice fountain in front, for our room. We booked the UCSD (university of California San Diego) partnership rate when booking rooms as I am alumna and she stated it came with welcome beverages and breakfast coupons to redeem at their restaurant. Breakfast is opened pretty late to about 11am and I enjoyed the food. Each server has their own definition of what the coupon entails so I was limited on what I could order each day so the inconsistency is a bit frustrating. One server stated the coupon is worth $9.45 and can choose from the breakfast value section and any order comes with juice or coffee, any order from the breakfast specialties and you'd just pay the difference which would be like under $5. Another server told me only certain specific breakfast choices come with juice or coffee so I ordered water or I would be charged extra. Wish I could take breakfast to-go! Our suite was very nice and clean. Living area has its own tv, air conditioning unit, mini fridge, microwave and own bathroom/shower. Bedroom and living space can be privatized/separated by closing the door. Bedroom has own tv and air conditioning and bathroom/shower and a patio door and balcony. Ceiling fan in each living space. Quiet hotel and no loud noises from our room placement (room 516 for an idea). Only complaint is we wish room service was available later in the night. They close at 9pm when we called Tuesday night. Parking is not free, about $15 a night I believe but there seemed to be plenty of places. We saw some people park for free across the street. We chose to uber everywhere. There was a $260 holding charge and it was taken off when I checked out.Overall a good experience and I would return. Most hotel experiences are a hit or miss. More...

We arrived in Missoula after a 9+ hour drive from Portland, and were hoping for a relaxing evening before visiting Glacier National Park the next day. The weather had been mostly cooperative, and there wasn't as much traffic as there may have been, but still...Fortunately, this hotel pretty much met our expectations. We were greeted with enthusiasm, our room was comfy, the gym and pool were in running condition, and while the elevator was slower than we'd like it to be, the stairs provided a more-than-adequate alternative. While the hotel is not downtown, there are a number of places you can walk to, specifically a pizza joint a stone's throw away, a Starbucks and a surprisingly-well stocked gas station. Additionally, there's an interesting walk/bike path up Grant Creek Road that one can employ to get their steps in. And, strip mall road is just across I-90, while the roads to downtown seem to be well-maintained.The free breakfast, which can often be an uncontrolled free-for-all, was surprisingly mellow - certainly we found our bellies more-than-adequately filled as we embarked for our destinations.
