Dog Training

We have just begun our 10 sessions with Carol and can’t be more impressed!!! She offers everything we were looking for, at beyond a reasonable price. And the most important part; our dogs love her and behaviors we thought we could never change are already shaping up as we do our homework.
Too bad there are only 5 stars here; she deserves 10!

Dog Training

Carol is a wonderful trainer with a firm and fair methodology about her. I've had only one session so far, but I look forward to our continued working relationship, bringing my boys up to where I need them to be.

I’m working with Carrie now and it is going great

I really enjoyed working with this trainer because she was very knowledgeable in her field and helped me to overcome some very severe issues with my dog. I would recommend her 100%!

In working with Ms. Abrams, I was truly impressed with her absolute level of professionalism in working with my two, very difficult, Dachshunds. I hired Ms. Abrams to help me with training my two Dachshunds in potty training, which was a severe issue for us, as well as behavioral modification for my older Dachshund, who was more aggressive toward fellow dogs outside of his family. In working with Ms. Abrams, I felt that she brought a top-notch level of education and experience to the sessions which I found difficult to find in many other dog-trainers. I am very pleased in working with Ms. Abrams and I would give her the highest rating, based on how much success she has brought to my family and our two dogs. Thank you! More...

While going through various treatments for Cancer, I learned Colorado Springs was one of many communities that experience a shortage of Therapy Dogs. I wanted to give back to the Healthcare community, and this seemed to be the way. Carrie and "Best Friends Dog Training & Evaluations" was the perfect answer. We adopted the perfect four-legged friend to get started. Carrie helped Oliver and me to achieve this goal! We couldn't have done it without her!! More...

Q&As

I love watching dogs develop new skills, learning what pleases their humans ; I enjoy seeing the relationship blossom between owner and dog

I have always loved dog training and behavior.
In my Graduate work as a Therapist my thesis was a comparative study of how children learn vs how dogs learn. They are very similar.
I worked my way through college as a Vet Tech and Evaluator/Behavioral Counselor for dogs at the Humane Society. When I retired as a Therapist , I worked in the legal arena and was heavily involved in preventing Breed Specific Legislation and promoting compassionate care, health and welfare for all animals most especially dogs
I retired and started my Dog Training/Behavioral Business.

My methods are science based, effective, and positive. Dogs learn best, as do children, when there is no fear, anxiety or pain. I have over 27 years of experience working with dog behavior and have had great success in training dogs and working with problem behaviors.
I have taken my own dogs to a high level of obedience: AKC: CGS, CC and UC awards. We compete in and have recently attained our Rally Obedience Intermediate title and compete in high level Nosework ( scent work) (receiving our Intermediate level) and Therapy dog work.
I have trained and placed 15 successful Service Dog teams in Colorado Springs and the surrounding areas.

Yes I can and I do. I work remotely through zoom, Facebook, Skype and other online forums. I have clients in various parts of the country. My online/remote clients have been pleased with the results.

In this era of social distancing for health, there's one bright spot for us as dog lovers:
It’s okay to go outside !(Especially with your dog!)….According to Dr. Ruth Berggren, an infectious disease specialist at UT Health, San Antonio: You don’t need to stay cooped inside your house all day as long as you’re being smart and cautious. Wear a mask, observe the 6 foot rule, wash your hands often.
“It’s especially important during times like these that you stimulate your dog’s mind through training and play. It prevents a buildup of frustration and anxiety.” Your Dog Can Sense Your Emotions!!!
As long as you maintain at least six feet from another human (and remember to wash your hands!) … you’re going to be alright. Both you and your dog…your dog shouldn’t have to suffer because of this virus.
In case you’re wondering: Dogs can’t catch the coronavirus. Thankfully.
But even though your dog is safe, is there still a possibility that somebody (a dog trainer, for example?) carrying the coronavirus could touch your dog’s coat and then you later catch the virus when you pet your dog?
Not with our newly developed “COVID 19 Safe” dog training protocol. Here’s How You Can Still Get Your Dog Professionally Trained (Without Risking Contagion!) … Because Of Our Newly Developed “COVID 19 Safe” Dog Training Protocol!
I’ve been busy developing a safety protocol that allows you to have your dog professionally trained without putting you in jeopardy of catching the COVID 19 coronavirus. Our “COVID 19 Safe” Dog Training Protocol Means that we observe the 6-8 foot social distance rule, we can work out of doors or in a spacious area, we wear a mask at all times and sanitize or wash our hands often.
We are also able to conduct our training sessions via online sessions from the comfort and safety of your home.

I work with dogs and their guardians to prevent and solve issues such as anxiety, reactivity and /or aggression towards people or other dogs.
Most dogs who are aggressing do so because of underlying fear or anxiety.
It's very difficult to walk your dog when he/she is reactive towards other dogs or people. You find yourself dreading your walks and avoiding times when others are out and about. I understand and can help solve this.
Call today and you'll be walking your dog without fear of spotting another dog.
