Benny's Burger Shop

This review is long overdue.One of my friends recommended them to me when I was craving some bone-in chicken wings and I'm so happy they did. Their hot sauce that they use is outright addictive. Seriously, no offense to Frank's RedHot, but THIS is the sauce you will actually want to put on everything. Pro tip - Order them well done of you like your chicken tender and juicy with a crispy skin. I've also had their Chris sandwich (not listed on the menu, but it's a grilled chicken sandwich with jalapeños and bacon) and loved it.Being a transplanted Midwestern girl, I appreciate good rib tips and theirs do not disappoint. I love their sweet potato fries, fried mushrooms, and cheese fries too. We had passed by here so many times and decided to give it a try. Walking in it was clean and you walk up to order. There wasn't anyone at the counter and a lady off to the side filling bags or something. We stood there for a bit then realized the lady was the one to take out order. Customer service wasn't that friendly but if the food is good I can look over that. I happened to notice the cook going to the fridge to grab a tomato and he had no gloves on... I like to think he put gloves on when going back to cut it but looked past that was well. The food didn't take long and was hot and smelled so good. When we got home everything was there and smelled delicious as we were all so hungry. First off, the fries were cooked thoroughly but were almost mushy and didn't taste great. Ok, don't need to eat the fries anyway and tried the burger which was a decent size. The meat didn't have much flavor and just wasn't that great. The hubs said his burger was okay and kids enjoyed their hot dogs. Overall, I just wasn't really diggin the food. Maybe it was just an off day and we might come back in the future and hopefully give a better review. I and my family used to eat there a few times a month until the virus hit. Since then and our first visit back was horrible. Something changed. Both my wife's burger and mine were awful. We have been here many many times and always a stellar experience with the staff and the food. It was a family favorite. It's been a few months since we have been here, my husband and I ate dinner here tonight. Horribly disappointed. The hamburgers were much smaller and thinner and did not fill the bun, and tasted awful. They were very dry. The buns almost had a burnt taste. The fries were way too salty and I like salt. My husband got regular fries and I got sweet potato.  Normally I don't even salt sweet potato fries but these were heavily salted and almost unedible. Even the Coca-Cola, did not taste good, not enough carbonation and too much syrup.  We were so disappointed.  Obviously the meat patties have changed for the burgers and not for the better.  Sadly, we are going to have to cross this off of our list. Amazing! The staff is so friendly, the portions are well worth the money you pay, and the quality and taste are out of this world! What a great little hidden jewel! We were looking for a spot to grab lunch and were in an area of town we weren't familiar with. Once again, Yelp reviews did not lead us astray!  The service staff were helpful and super friendly and everyone seemed to take great pride in the food and in working there!It was pretty busy, but we got our food quickly! We also enjoyed watching the wait staff welcome and call their regular customers by name! We both had burgers and there are a lot to choose from! We went pretty standard but plan to return and try a more daring version next time!  The fries were excellent!! Just the right crisp.. I finished my whole order! Benny's burger. Not the biggest fan of this place but stopped in yesterday for a burger. It was the best I've had there. Custom burger...  basically a single with cheddar jack and green chile. I do not like their mayo concoction and that has to be the main reason I've never been truly happy here. This time I remembered to tell them no mayo!  Man!  What a difference!!  Unfortunately, that one little piece of green chile didn't do anything for the burger but it was ok anyway. 50 cents for green chile you can't taste. I'll pass next time and you all know how that hurts my soul. Next time I'll skip lettuce too. I cannot stand lettuce cores and it surprised me to find a giant one in the middle of my burger.  Anyway. Once I got rid of that, I was satisfied. Also. Never tried their cole slaw before. And it was pretty dang good!Also good is their amazing fried zucchini!  Best in the area! So far, the sides are my favorite things to get here. I also know I NEED to try their chocolate malt. I've been craving one for a while and can't find one. Seems like nobody knows what a "malt" is... Friendly staff but that's the best thing about this place. Ordered mild wings and there were awful. First of all they were overcooked and very dry. Wings were drenched in sauce. You could hardly find the wings through all of the sauce and mild it was not. Can't even imagine how hot the actual hot wings were based on how spicy the mild ones were. Also ordered a burger. It was overcooked, dry, and tasteless. Fries were also pretty bland. There were four of us and no one was impressed with their meals. There were a lot of people coming in. I took the advice of a co worker about the shakes I ordered a large banana shake (it wasnt) it was vanilla.. awful!!! and I ordered ribs sampler not. ... Nice friendly feeling as soon as you walk in. Helpful staff and VERY reasonable prices. I had a burger with cheese. It came with lettuce, tomato, etc all fresh and pretty good tasting. I was not wowed. The fries were fresh and pretty tasty. Again, not wowed. My wife had the Italian Beef sandwich. The beef was moist and had good flavor. The bun was a so-so fit. She ended up eating just the filling, leaving the bun mostly uneaten. If you order a shake in the 32 OZ size be ready to spend some time drinking it. Ours was Jamocha and was Very good.All in all, Fresh food served by friendly people. A very reasonable price. If that sounds good, probably worth a visit. More...

I was shopping by Arrowhead Mall.  I Wanted a good burger, not a fan of In & Out or Habit burger at least the one in this area. So thought I'd venture out if my way into Sun City after seeing this place a 4 star on Yelp.In comparison,  it's comparable to either the above mentioned burger places. This little hidden gym has been around for almost 10 years...and it's delicious! Located on the end of a  strip mall in Sun City. There is plenty of parking, a nice atmosphere and friendly staff! As you are enjoying your meal, expect the staff to be walking the floor, taking trash, asking about your meal, and just being hospitable. The Korean tacos are excellent with a side of fried dumplings...try the teriyaki mushroom burger...beef bbq sandwich is solid...I also like the fried chicken chimi. Found this place on Yelp while hanging out with my friend for the day.Benny's was in the area and I wanted a burger place to try. Still looking for that perfect burger. Char grilled and just a slight hint of the gas taste that ruins any charred burger. Tolerable and not too distracting. There is a place I see on several Best Burgers in Phoenix lists out there that Benny's would likely bump off the list if Benny was "Lucky". So glad we stopped by for lunch. It was so busy today, but food was coming out quick and the line went just as fast. We found one of the last remaining open tables and waited. We noticed they even had some seasoning and peppers to purchase so we bought a few to take home. My husband and son both ordered the triple cheeseburger which comes with fries and a drink. I ordered the pastrami burger just like last time because it's all I've been dreaming about. The waitress brought us our food and we dug in. Everything was so juicy and my burger at a little bite to it with the peppers. So yummy! My boys actually finished their burgers which is crazy because it's so much food. While we were eating the owner stopped by our table to check on us and say hello. He stopped at a few more tables and even surprised a little boy with some ice cream. It made his day.
