First of all, this company deserves 5 stars for customer service and for working to create custom products.
As for the couch — not so great.
I ordered a custom Skinny Fat sectional. The first came and the cushions and frame were defective. The entire frame shook whenever someone so much as lifted their arm, the arm and back cushions were bloated and didn’t fit in place. The seat cushions sank in and left a giant depression after just a day.
They showed a lot of concern and care for my experience, and offered to make me a new sofa. We again customized a few things, they were extremely accommodating.
A couple months later I got the new sofa. It is worlds better in terms of the frame and the back and arm cushions, but in general, the filling is just not good.
After three days, there was already a permanent depression on the cushion I typically sit on. To be clear, I weight around 120 pounds.
In general, the type of filling they use is not supportive on the seats and back cushions. Your body sinks into it, but not in the way that a body sinks into fillings like down or memory foam. The couch doesn’t push back to balance your weight.
It’s now been two weeks or so, and the seat and back cushions where I usually sit are completely warped. When I walk into my living room in the morning, I can see the indentation of where my butt was the previous evening.
I’ve now reached out again with photos via email and nobody has responded, so I’m not sure what’s going on.
I really wanted this couch to work, as there are no others that fit my living room wall the way I wanted. But it’s so uncomfortable to the point where I’m now reconsidering how I set up my entire living room so that I can put my $4400 into a couch that isn’t breaking down after three days.

This was not only an excellent product, but just an overall great buying experience.My sofa arrived last week, and everything was perfect. It was high quality, excellent craftsmanship, sized exactly as I specified, and even the delivery company was very good (they put on brand new gloves to move the couch in order to avoid putting smudge marks on the white fabric). I also ordered the trillium pillows, which offer great texture and feel. Lisa B from Benchmade was also instrumental in helping me out. I originally wanted to get a 100 inch sofa, but she suggested I take measurements at my condo to ensure it would fit through the hallways. Turns out it would not have made it past the hallways! I ended up getting a sectional with bumper and it was the perfect compliment to the rest of the living room. She also made suggestions on size and proportions of the couch, and it turned out great. For a custom couch, their pricing was on the mark. Plus, with a custom couch, its kind of nice knowing there's not another out there like mine (of course, unless they order the same dimensions and style :).They have a 100-day guarantee, but I don't foresee me exercising that option.I would be remiss if I didn't offer some constructive criticism. In terms of what can be improved, and here are my two cents:1. Have a physical showroom. While their online platform is a lot better than other online stores (e.g. printouts, swatches, choose your size scenarios, etc.), there is nothing quite like actually seeing (and feeling) the furniture firsthand. Of course, this boils down to a financial decision, and as a start up, it might not be financially feasible.2. They have almost too many fabric and color choices to choose from. I know some people would like this, but for me, too many options led to the "paradox of choice" -- too much to choose from and I had a hard time making a decision (literally took me 3 weeks to choose the final color).3. Wish they had better real time order status updates. Like many others, I was very anxious to get my couch and wanted to see where it was in the production chain. Not a big deal, but I would have really enjoyed real-time status updates just so I can plan ahead. Or maybe I'm just being very picky. More...
