Small Venue Shows with Great Audience's!

GREAT LIVE MUSIC VENUE ! My wife and I enjoyed a fabulous Chris Isaak concert here last night ( Dec17th ). The joint was packed to the rafters by the time we got let inside around 7. 15pm. We found a spot to stand near the 2nd bar on the far wall on the left of the stage. I grabbed a hazy IPA and a plastic cup of water for my wife while we waited for the show to begin. At 8pm Chris and his band came on stage to rapturous applause. At one point early on Chris left the stage and walked amongst the audience while singing. Everybody went nuts trying to get pics or selfies. In fact he walked within 5 feet of my wife and I and then got back on stage. Lots of our favorite songs were performed plus a couple of well known Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley tunes. Chris chatted with the audience quite a bit between songs and really made it feel personal. We were having such a great time that before we knew it the show was over at 9.30pm. I guess they gotta end sometime but it did seem a short concert given there was no opening act. We had a great time all the same ! More...

Incredible place to see a show. If you can get seats up in the balcony, those are awesome.

Came here for a company holiday party and was impressed the place could handle such a large crowd. Lots of seating. There is a cafe in the back of you want to get away from the loud live music. Beer selection could use some variety and kept it from a better rating. You don't need that many IPAs on tap. More...

Belly Up is an establishment in Solana Beach. I'm sure it will stay this way for years to come. We attended the all new Wonderfront Music Fest recently and Belly Up was a co- sponsor of one of smaller stages at Broadway Pier. A place to see up and coming talent. We stopped by their booth and there was an opportunity for those who visited to win a pair of tickets to a show. Most opportunities available were to see a tribute band, but my husband can tell you how I am "NOT a FAN of a tribute BAND". I need a t-shirt with this saying.  Our last show purchased at Belly Up happened to be for an ugly sweater show some years back and I couldn't believe it was the same time of year again, but this year, they were having a holiday show instead, so we booked it and to say we were pleased is an understatement. Forget digging for gold in the mountains, when you can find it at the coast at Belly Up. I just think I found my new favorite band. No, think. I know! Our tickets were to see, JD McPherson who performed his "Socks" original album of holiday songs. This could very well be the best holiday album ever recorded since the classics came along. JD also entertained us with his original rock and roll, rhythm and blues, and rockabilly to name only a few genres he can fit into.  But it goes beyond this with his film school and art training. JD had the crowd, singing, dancing and enjoying the night in no time. This is a place where artists old come back and new are discovered. The sound is always fantastic, the performances intimate and the crowd as diverse at the performers. We keep going back, even if it takes us awhile to find a show we love. Thank you Belly Up for the tickets to get us back through the door. We now own the "Socks" holiday album and will be running to the local record store to get the new single, like the old days...#BellyUp#SolanaBeach#OldSchool#NewTalent#NotAFanOfTheTributeBand More...

TOP VENUE ! My wife and I first came here way back in 2007 soon after we moved from Australia. We saw the Kenny Wayne Shepherd Band in 2010. They were pretty darn good too. We had dinner beforehand at the Wild Note Cafe next door which is attached to the venue. Over the years we have seen acts such as Johnny Winter, Imelda May, Walter Trout and the Mick Fleetwood Blues Band not long ago. This is the best venue in San Diego to see a really good artist at an indoor venue. We are always in S Cedros Ave for one reason or another. One day I stuck my head inside here and asked if I could take a few pics. As anyone knows who has been here photos taken with the lights doused during performances usually don't look too good. Being 5 minutes from our place it's really handy too ! More...

We go to the club very often and usually have no complaints. John Craigie last night was great, as were the Shook Twins. But we had loft seats to confirm a seat, and presumably to hear and see better and avoid the downstairs bar chatter. Unfortunately there was a loud obnoxious group in the loft who disrupted our evening, and did not seem to be there to listen at all. The upstairs "security" personnel really should do something with a group like this, when they are obviously very loud. Even people on the stage looked up to the loft when they heard the excessive noise during the performance. We felt frustrated to have paid extra for loft seating and be disappointed. Maybe a chat with the loft staff is due to avoid this problem in the future. More...

sometimes good bands play. they must have had different booking agent in years past because it has started catering to an older crowd with a heavy dose of cover bands. It's a good space though with a diverse mix of groups coming through. If you wanna sit, not really let you hair down and can afford above average priced and watered down drinks, it's fun. B- More...

Great place for intimate shows.  The acoustics where amazing.   There really isn't a bad seat in the house and the stage is viewable from everywhere on the floor .  The bar staff were helpful enough, but had zero personality, and overall just didn't seem to want to be there. I'd definitely go back for the right show. More...

Great place to see a show. Friendly staff. The only downside is the cost of food. $11 for chips and guacamole?! The chicken tender with fries were $. 50 less. I know food gets marked up, but c'mon. Eat first, then visit the Belly Up Tavern for a great show. More...

4th time seeing Led Zepagain. Good band. Normally they play all the popular songs throughout the show keeping the audience engaged and dancing as was the first 3 times I've seen them. Tonight's show was unique in that many of the songs from the B side of album's were played and few were dancing. About half way through the show I noticed that many people began to leave. I stayed to the end and got to hear some of the popular songs in the last 20 minutes that I went to hear. Hopefully, in the future the band will focus more on the popular songs throughout the show and keep people dancing. The songs from the B side of album's were fillers then and remain fillers that don't need to be relived, which is why I rated tonight a 4 instead of 5. More...

Great intimate venue for a concert! Just you, the band and about 600 of your closest friends. There really isn't a bad seat in the house - if you can snag one. They offer a small selection of food and drinks. We ordered chips and salsa with guacamole $11 , a cranberry juice and a beer. Cost was $23.00. If are whole food plant based, there isn't much to choose from at all, but you aren't really here for food. More...
