This place is great! I am from southern California and was in Maryland for a week. My family heard about this place and we drove here from Annapolis. Worth the drive! Hands down the best pizza in the area. I stopped craving pizza and starting craving Bella Maria instead. Haven't branched out on their menu too much but I've heard good things. Get the margherita pizza.

The margherita pizza is very similar to the pizza we ate in Italy. Everything on it was really fresh. I always talk about how I hate when pizza places put canned mushrooms on their pizza. This place uses fresh mushrooms and they get roasted in the pizza oven. The tomatoes are sour but not too sour, and they top the pizza with extra virgin olive oil and fresh garlic that makes it a little spicy. Well, not exactly like Trenton Tomato Pie, but close enough to use the sacred name of the best pizzas in the Universe (Pardon me, Brooklyn). These guys make excellent chunky red sauce for their red over white creations. Truth is, they may pour it on a bit on the heavy side, so that the thicker crust becomes moist from the tomato slurry. Makes for a base that can't support the topside, unlike the Trenton pie that uses both thinner crust and less nightshade, yet manages to hold its point beginning to end. Despite this engineering, the taste was superlative. The added mushrooms provided subtle flavor and more texture. So, I am not complaining at all; just pointing out the cultural difference. Both ways work, it just depends which you prefer. The chicken parmesan sandwich was also quite good, with enough chicken tenders, great sauce and melted mozzarella for a pleasing full mouth bite. The weak link was the torpedo roll, which lacked crispness and sourdough flavor to enhance the finished mix. There was kitchen artistry in both pie and sub, and a better baker would make the difference in reaching my fifth star.Note to Alex - Thanks for the excellent comment to the review. I still have family on Anderson Street, and totally appreciate what Trenton brings to the (pizza) table. This establishment will NOT disappoint! We have been here on many occasions and have always received great service and the most delicious pizza in the area! One instance of their over and beyond service is when we showed up to get food and there was a private event taking place. They saw the disappointment in our eyes and the chef (Alex) came out while we were walking to our car and insisted on make us a pizza to go! I had read the story in the paper about the owners daughter who was tragically lost, and who had told her father that his pizza was the best - and he should open a pizzeria. I finally tried it today. Some of the BEST tasting pizza I've had in a long, long time. Try thier four-cheese pie, with or without extra toppings - it's one of the most mouth-watering treats that I have had in a long time. Wonderfully-textured crust, not too thick or too thin, (great crust is what gives a great pizza it's foundation, in my book!), just a totally delicious pizza experience! Highly recommend this place! Delicious. I'm a regular now. They know my name! Not only are the tomato pies amazing, the hot roast beef and pork are truly top notch.
We ordered baked ziti, sausage and peppers, meatballs and of course tomato pies for my granddaughter's holy communion party and everything was devoured.
Tomato pie is thick with sauce with cheese underneath and the crust is crispy and splashed with olive oil. Just fantastic More...

I've eaten a lot of pizza, and after moving back to Philly, have gotten my fair share of monstrosities. A friend of mine told me to take the 15 min drive over to Bensalem to try out their Brooklyn Style. Needless to say in the past 2 weeks that I've discovered this place, I've ordered about 5 Brooklyn Styles abd my family is hooked now. This place is special, run by people who care. Finally made it there Saturday night and what a delightful family. Mother ,Father and son all working there. What made me go there to begin with was the story that I read about their daughter and the fundraising they do in her memory but after eating the food here I will be a regular customer also . I had a ziti pizza and also a chicken cutlet with roasted peppers ,garlic and mozzarella and everything was fantastic. Stopped in today and met the owners Alex, Alex Jr. and staff.
Meeting these people, I felt like I knew them my entire life.
They could not have been nicer, along with the best old school customer service.
On this day I ordered 3 cheesesteaks, which were absolutely delicious.
Hot, flavorful and on fresh rolls.
While waiting for the food to be prepared, we all engaged in some great conversation.

This is the true Trenton or Brooklyn tomato pie.The sauce was simply the best fresh tomatoes and great cheese sprinkled with fresh basil at the end and we added meatballs to half the pie which were outstanding. I have been to the most highly recommended pizza places, V&S in Fairrless Hills and Brothers in Langhorne. But, this gem is by a long shot a far better pizza,if you are looking for the best sauce. I prefer, the more informal cafe setting of Brothers but the sauce and most appealing pizza comes out of this rather small place on Bristol and Bensalem Blvd. I prefer takeout from this place. We were in Bensalem to retrieve my car after post-accident repairs, two hours from home. It wasn't quite ready when we got there so we went to grab dinner and the guys from Car Star recommended a place just down 13 from them: Bella MariaThey're on the point of a Y split in the road and looks so quaint and cute from the outside.  Inside it is a warm space where we were greeted by the family working behind the counter. We were told we could pick a table and a server would be right over.  She was! Their menu is pretty extensive and had the typical pizza shop items.  We started with some wings and fries.  The wings were fried crispy and the mild sauce was garlicky with just the right amount of heat for my son and I.  They were juicy. Yummy.  Awesome.  My husband and son split a stromboli with pepperoni,  salami and ham. I'm not usually a stromboli person, but this thing was huge and looked so good I had to have a slice.  Great sauce.  Great cheese. Probably The Best Crust I have tasted in a long time. It was thin and crispy, with oil and herbs. My other son had an amazing plate of penne alla vodka, which came with a fantastic salad and some bread and butter.   the croutons were exquisite.  I tasted the pasta too.  I liked it.  He said it was better than mine. I left him in the parking lot. Just kidding.  I had an Italian Hot Dog. I never see those offered outside of Jersey so I had to get one.  It wasn't authentically Jersey style - it came on a hoagie roll rather than a half of pizza bread, but the dog was scored and fried.  It had onions and peppers fried soft and potato hunks.  They let me put on my own condiments and I did the traditional ketchup and mustard.  It was really good and I thoroughly enjoyed it.  The service was great and super friendly.  Our beverages were refilled before we finished our glasses.  If we're ever in the area again,  we will be back. Today was our first time at Bella Maria. We stopped due to a recommendation of a friend. A few things I noticed at first. Calling to place my order was a bit of a hassle, this girl answered and put me on hold . 4 minutes later I was disconnected. Called back and waited on hold for roughly another 5 minutes. The parking lot is a disaster, literally 6-8 parking spaces so it's a bit tight and tough to get out. As for the food. The fries were terrible! First off they were extremely small almost cut in half, weird I know. They were also very soggy. Next time I won't order fries. The pizza on the other hand was very very good. The crust was perfect!! Just the way I like it. You can tell the ingredients are top notch. The cheese seems to be a blend. The sauce was tasty but a little on the sweet side for me. I ordered extra cheese but it didn't seem like there was much cheese on it. I'm not a fan of Parmesan on my pizza next time I would ask them not to put it on.Overall I would go back just for the pizza. Solid 4 stars, they lose a star for the fries. The food is outstanding. The service is fantastic. Order the tomato pies. They are outstanding especially the sauce. Prices are extremely reasonable, actually cheap, in my opinion. Definitely a keeper.
