We are SO HAPPY that we decided to go with Before I do Events!  Elena was our coordinator and we immediately felt comfortable with her.  We were planning our wedding from the bay area and she was always flexible about meeting with us whenever we happened to be in town.  There were so many times during the wedding planning process where my now husband and I would look at each other and say "we're so happy we have Elena."  She is extremely organized and after our wedding, we got so many comments from friends and family about how great she is and how she knew EVERYTHING.  I think most importantly, we always felt like she was on our side and we could conquer the world (or at least the day) with her by our side! Being a Project Manager in my every day life, I very much handled my wedding in the same manner. A project. However, even good project managers know good delegation skills. ..Since I already had my vendors and most major details sorted out, I was strictly looking for a coordinator to help me the week/day of our wedding to make it all come together and to relieve any internal stress/anxiety I was surely about to have (note: we had recently moved cross-country from San Diego to FL months before we came back to SD for the wedding...thank you, U.S. Navy.) I was recommended Before I Do Events from a fellow friend and was lucky enough to meet Elena Donnelly. To echo a lot of the other reviews, I cannot say enough great things of Elena and her team for what they did for us that special day. While I'm sure we were not their most complicated, I'd like to think our traditional Catholic and Military wedding put some curve balls into the mix. Elena and her team did an exceptional job from prepping the church, to working hand in hand with each venue coordinator, to making sure the vendors and guests had seamless access to the military base (where our reception was held) to dealing with a difficult reception room layout/setup, transporting/setting every table center piece since I shipped most of it and had it staged in our hotel room (and yes, I did my own flower arrangements because I'm insane!) down to the littlest details of making sure we and the bridal party had sandwiches for lunch on the trolley as we ran around SD taking pictures in between the ceremony and reception.  The timing of the day was tight and it went in a blink of an eye but it was flawless and for the first time ever (it's hard for me to not be in control of everything) I handed over command to someone that I truly trusted and felt confident would excel in executing every last task of our big day. I can't begin to say enough good things about Elena Donnelly and the staff at Before I Do events. Elena was the sweetest person to work with and worked so incredibly hard to make our wedding the day of our dreams and go off without a glitch! She worked so well with all of the vendors and just made the whole experience so much more pleasant. She was like having a little buddy to conquer the world with those last few weeks! Working with Alicia and the Before I Do Events team was simply wonderful! It was a fun process and Alicia truly wanted to capture our dream wedding and relationship throughout the whole day--she most definitely succeeded! The whole process was organized, professional, flexible and helpful. Before I Do Events has everything a bride to be needs to feel relaxed and calm as her wedding day approaches--not to mention on the big day. I worked with Alicia at Before I do Events and I would highly recommend her and her team. It was an absolute pleasure working with her. She is easy going, flexible, helpful and has no ego. I had spoken to other planners that required 5 star hotels and multiple rooms and her and Nichole were happy with anything I booked. One less thing to stress about. On the day of the wedding I knew everything was going to go smoothly because if it didn't Alicia would take care of it. Casan and Preston's wedding day was everything that we had envisioned and more! Thanks to Alicia and her patience and exceptional organizational skills. There were a lot of moving parts to bring together i.e. diy projects, props and a large bride/groom party. Alicia took on the task of herding cats.....scheduling make up hair, delivering gift bags and so on. The wedding from beginning to end was stress free. We were all able to be in the moment and enjoy the beautiful day and have FUN. ALL THE FUN! I will be honest I was a bit skeptical using a wedding planner at first. We had our definate ideas and believed we could do it all. SOOO glad we changed our mind and found Alicia. Our entire wedding planning process was 100% enjoyable and FUN all thanks to the wonderful team at Before I Do Events - and especially Alicia Strom. My husband and I were fortunate enough to get to connect with Before I Do Events through our wedding photographer. From our first meeting over a year ago to our wedding day this past September, Alicia was extremely professional, organized, detail-oriented, and energetic. We could've have picked a better fit for our wedding style and personalities. Alicia provided full wedding planning package - which included EVERYTHING.

It was amazing to know that every single small detail was thought through and being taken care of. Throughout the process of bringing on various vendors, Alicia was able to vet them and then negotiate prices that fit our budget needs. We were able to bring on the most incredible team of vendors - from our rocking band to our beautiful florals. It all turned out SO perfectly. Overall Alicia has the BEST ideas for making a wedding feel like the couple while also being realistic in staying within your budget. She came up with some really creative and interesting details that our guests loved. We worked together on a collaborative Pinterest board to coordinate ideas and design styles.

On our wedding day, Alicia had outlined a schedule down to the minute for all our vendors – which made it very seamless and stress-free (everything you want on the big day). She is extremely organized, and maintains a really great demeanor throughout the whole day. Our guests even commented on how well organized our wedding was – and that our planner was “very on top of everything.”

We resisted getting a Coordinator until the last week and it was the best decision we ever made!!!!! Maria King, our Week-Of Wedding Coordinator and her assistant Chris are an awesome team! They were extremely organized, kept everyone on track the entire day, kindly directed family members, my husband and I to the next activity whether it was the cake cutting or the first dance. We were so overwhelmed with talking to all of our guests it was so nice to have someone cue us.  More importantly, Maria put so much time into creating a smooth timeline and transitions throughout the day, coordinating everything with our vendors, and making sure all the people in our wedding party knew where to be and when! Every single person in my family and our other guests commented on how lovely Maria and Chris are! When people had questions or concerns, they figured out the answers and problem-solved, even rolling up their sleeves and putting all our presents in my parents car for us! I know they must have been exhausted as they were the first there the last to leave, but they never showed it! Maria and Chris are professional, extremely friendly, offer a calming disposition during the wedding chaos and gave us the opportunity to be in the moment and enjoy every second of our special day/week! Their professionalism is unparalleled, and their dedication to your wedding is impressive. Seriously, they went above and way beyond what we expected. Michele, Alicia, and the entire Before I Do team are absolutely amazing and phenomenal to work with! As wedding videographers, we work with a multitude of coordinators throughout the year, and few have been as professional, positive, and truly on top of it as Before I Do. From detailed itineraries to each and every detail of the day being meticulously cared for, they make the entire wedding experience seamless. Wow, I honestly don't know how we would have had a wedding without Michele, Alicia and their team. They are incredible, and truly went so far beyond what I thought any wedding planner could do. Before I keep going with the superlatives I should say that my parents and I did NOT think we fit the profile of typical wedding planner clients, since my mom is a brilliant designer, loves all things weddings and had even helped plan a few others. We thought we really had our act together and likely didn't need a pro, but thought maybe Before I Do could help us navigate vendors and deal with logistics on the wedding day. How naive we were! Before I Do did absolutely everything you can imagine, all while making sure that every detail was true to what we wanted.

Perhaps the most impressive thing about BID is that unlike other wedding planners I've heard tales of, they are equally great at the design element and the logistical quagmire that can swallow a big wedding without cool heads stepping in. These parallel talents played out daily: I was always so impressed at their responsiveness to email/text, shared spreadsheets, etc, because you knew that they weren't posted at a desk computer all day - they were probably out at a florist or hunting down the perfect blue and white grosgrain ribbon, meanwhile updating the color-coded master logistical spreadsheet! So impressive.

So here's the takeaway - book them early, buy their full package (we started with a more limited package and ended up paying them a la carte for the countless other workstreams we had them take over), and loop them in on absolutely everything. They will take over the tasks you don't want or have time to do yourself, and they'll provide crucial support on more personal things you might want to do yourself, like song selection, toasts, ceremony order, etc. But they can literally do anything. I miss them in my life! Hire them now!

Before I do events is truly an awesome company.  Tammi and Alicia and their associates were worth every penny!My awesome daughter hired this company to be her wedding coordinators. When I first met them, I was blown away how young they looked.  Beautiful and not one hair on their heads was out of place.  I was mother-of-the-bride, and I was wondering if their youthfulness meant inexperience.  But they quickly won me over because of their creativity, organizational skills and their composure.   They were very professional and precise at every meeting and during my daughter's  wedding at the Darlington House in La Jolla, CA.  They answered every one of my endless questions and put my mind at ease.   My daughter put me in charge of decor since I am an interior designer.  But MOB's have to relinquish control which I felt very safe doing due my admiration of this company. The day of the wedding I watched the coordinators and their staff take the decor that I bought and place each piece around the venue with assuredness. The metal pear in the apple bucket that SyleMePretty featured was one of many of their stylish ideas!   During the wedding, the coordinators were in complete control, always with smiles on their faces.  The day was filled with organized events: a bridal party breakfast, hair and makeup, and pre-wedding bride and groom stroll around the venue to take in what was going to happen later on in the day.  The wedding was to take place in the Rose Garden, then the cocktail hour was in the Library and other gardens, then back to the Rose Garden for dinner.  It was a big accomplishment to coordinate the tear-down of the Rose Garden ceremony chairs to Rose Garden reception tables with all the candles lit and decorations and flowers on them. It took an hour or so to do this but the guests weren't complaining because of my now son-in-law's famous Margaritas and the many passed hors d'eouvres and antipasto.  But I can't imagine what went on behind the scenes.  Everyone, especially my daughter, remained calm and joyful!   If you go to Stylemepretty.com and look under Darlington House, you will see our successful efforts.  Everything turned out perfectly! It was amazing working with Tammi and Alicia. Looking back, I couldn't have imagined working with anyone else!

When I first met with Tammi back in 2013, I was immediately impressed with her professionalism and organization. That day I met with several wedding planners and Before I Do was the perfect mix of business savvy and creativity. They had a lot of inspiring, imaginative ideas and were the only ones who had a goal for their services to pay for themselves (through negotiating contracts, etc.).

I live in LA and was planning a wedding down in San Diego. My venue happened to be one that is highly customizable, so I needed recommendations for everything from rentals to catering to florists. Tammi and Alicia did a great job with this and already had an extensive list of recommended vendors for every category. Also, they were always responsive to our questions.

The timeline meeting was immensely helpful and they thought of every little detail so our wedding day would run smoothly.

The week leading up to the weekend was by far the most stressful. I really appreciated handing everything off on the Rehearsal Dinner night. They even picked up some last minute things for my husband and I so we didn't need to worry about a thing.

Before I Do Events took care of every last detail for a weekend that my husband and I will remember for the rest of our lives. We hired them for their full service wedding planning and Tammi & Alicia were there every step of the way - from helping with vendors & coordinating conversations, to the day-of seamless organization and logistics. It was the design & look and feel where Alicia showed her real talents. Don't even know where to begin!!My wedding day was the best day of my life and I can completely give all the credit to Before I Do Events! ! Everything went off without a hitch - when 2 of my bridesmaids' zippers broke and had to be sewn into their dresses (hilarious), Tammi and her assistants took care of everything without missing a beat! It was amazing!!Not one single detail was missed - they did it all!! I have said it several times, I would have given up so many wedding necessities just to have these ladies - they were unbelievable! My wedding was at Estancia La Jolla with 260 guests and Tammi continually made sure I was completely relaxed and enjoyed myself - and I did! :)The last week she called me to hand EVERYTHING over to her, and despite the unplanned weather (only weekend of rain in like 3 months fell on my wedding weekend), Tammi transformed all of our original plans into something even more spectacular than I had ever dreamed!!They handled all contracts, correspondence with vendors, details that you would never think of, organization of timeline, and just about everything else! Best choice I made when planning my wedding was hiring Before I Do Events (FYI I interviewed 2 other planners and at first thought they would all be the same - totally not the case)!!! I can't say enough amazing things about Michele - not only did she plan our wedding in Tahoe while she was in San Diego and I was in NYC, but she did it while she was having a baby! !

Every single detail of our wedding (and rehearsal dinner which she also planned, soup to nuts) was to die for - family and friends still remember and talk about the details one year later! The theme boards she sent me were so helpful - I was incredibly indecisive and couldn't narrow down a look and feel until she created those boards for me. And she was SO responsive to my often neurotic questions/additions to the details.

Because it was a destination wedding and I was coming from across the country, I relied on Michele to get everything to the wedding and assembled. She spent hours making the most gorgeous ribbon backdrop for our dessert table and tying every since place card - I was blown away when I walked into the room ... it was so much more incredible than I expected.

If you're getting married in San Diego, Tahoe or anywhere in the WORLD, I would recommend Michele in a heartbeat. She's creative, kind, attentive, responsive and genuinely a really really good person.

I am so happy I chose to work with Before I Do Events. They worked with me from start to finish, from coordinating the vendors to all of the intricate details of the wedding day. I worked specifically with Michelle and Tammi. They were very knowledgeable and ready to answer any questions I had throughout the planning process. Anytime I needed help, they were more than willing to lend a hand. Their attention to detail and and positive attitudes really made the whole experience so much more enjoyable for me. I couldn't be happier about our decision to go with Before I Do events for our wedding coordination. I am a very resourceful, organized and creative person, and I planned my whole wedding myself, with no intention of having a coordinator. But after a friends wedding which was a few months before mine, the bride told me the smartest decision she made was having a day of coordinator. So I decided to look into it and I have to say the money spent on the coordination services was probably the most well spent money for the whole wedding. You can have a beautiful venue and amazing decor but without someone else there who is running the show you have the potential for a complete disaster. Tammi was so professional, so organized and had so much wisdom about little things here and there that I would have had no clue about. She literally ran the show, the rehearsal, the setting up of decorations, coordinating with all the other vendors, emailing with them the week prior so I could have some quality time with all the friends and family in town. Her expertise far surpassed my expectations, I especially loved that she was bold enough to question the reception layout, which led to re-arranging. In hindsight if we had not changed the floor plan the vibe would have been totally different and not as ideal for dancing and mingling. A detail that would have completely changed the intimate feeling the guests couldn't stop raving about. I can't say enough good things about Michele and the team at Before I Do Events. They helped me plan my dream wedding in Lake Tahoe on September 19th, 2011. I am a bit of a control freak, so it took a lot for me to step back and let go. I knew I was in great hands, so I let myself actually enjoy the months leading up to my wedding!! BID provided guidance through every single step of the process and handled all negotiations with vendors. I never knew about the little issues (vendors not leaving when they're supposed to and sticking around for the party - what?!) going on behind the scenes because BID handled it like true professionals. Instead of ruining our night with something like that, they handled it and brought it to our attention when we returned from our honeymoon. It's the little things like this that are truly priceless when picking your wedding planner. Aside from being on top of every little detail, the crew at BID are some of the sweetest people you'll ever meet. I couldn't believe how easy it was for them to take the ideas floating around in my head and bring them to life. They have impeccable taste, while having fun and unique ideas to make the day feel 100% like us.

And all the reasons above are why I find myself here, reviewing them after 3 years. They were so amazing, that I hired them to help plan my best friend's baby shower this past Fall. Again, everything went by without a hitch and it was another INCREDIBLE day. The momma to be was blown away. They have a way of working with your budget and STILL making it feel over the top. Love love love this crew and have referred them to many friends who've also had great experiences. Can't wait to have a reason to work with you fabulous ladies again :)

Before I Do Events were amazing. I have already recommended them to my friends. Michele and Tammi worked closely with my family, fiancé and I as we planned an elegant and intimate backyard wedding. I had all kinds of ideas that I wanted to include to make the day personal and unique. The girls at Before I Do events helped make these ideas a reality. Michele provided full-service planning for my wedding. Right from the start what impressed me most is how much she genuinely seemed to care about making my wedding day the most special day. You can tell how much she loves weddings and finds joy in finding ways to create a dream wedding for her clients. I was very rushed trying to plan my wedding in a relatively short period of time on a budget. Michele was always there when I needed her. She helped me find my dream venue and create a vibe and feel for the day that exceeded what I ever expected especially given our budget! She was there to help during every step of the planning process, and always went the extra mile. Michele has a ton of relationships with great vendors (who all love her by the way). She was able to save me so much time by referring me to great vendors that offered prices within my budget. I was overwhelmed in the months leading up to my wedding due to school and work and Michele handled so many of the planning details which honestly saved me! During meetings with our caterer/venue etc. she always knew what questions to ask which is incredibly helpful for someone going through the planning process for the first time.

The day of the wedding I was able to relax with my family and bridesmaids and enjoy the day. Michele handled every detail so that I could just be a bride and enjoy every minute. Even with everything going on she made time to come see me before the ceremony started to give me a hug and help calm me down! Also, between the ceremony and reception during the cocktail hour, she brought some of our signature drinks to me and my husband. She really made my wedding vision a reality! All of our guests have raved about our wedding...some even have told us it was the most beautiful wedding they have ever attended. I give the credit to Michele and will always be incredibly grateful for all she did for us. I highly recommend her if you are looking for a wedding planner!

Michelle is so sweet! She started this business a few years back after having great success with her own wedding. She is so talented. I am OCD when it comes to my planning, and she has been right there, holding my hand the entire way. She is the only planner/coordinator that my photographer (www.studiocastillero.com) was willing to recommened, and visa versa. Michelle is the entire package: Day of, Month of and even all around, and a la carte'; but when it comes down to it, she provides way more in her day of package than most DOC's do in their month of. Pricing was more than reasonable once you got into the details of what she does for you. She also is able to do your flowers (just check out her sight, they are all done by her), invites, even planning your honeymoon, (of course for additional fees). Michelle is flexible, easy to get along with (even become great friends with), professionable, knowledgable, talented, prompt, I could go on and on. Great find! More...
