I've known Barbara for as long as I can remember—she's done my hair for many occasions and has been my mom's stylist for years—so there was no question that I would have Beauty At Your Door for my wedding day! Barbara is so fun and easy to work with, and keeps you smiling all through the process. For my hair trial, she was willing to try not one, not two, but four different styles until I was happy with a final decision! And on the wedding day, she amped up the style even more with beautiful touches. She and her team had a lot of heads to cover, and even with 14 people to style they were ahead of schedule throughout the day! Barbara also stayed through pre-ceremony photos to do touch ups on everyone, including family members who weren't part of the original plan! I am the Mother of the groom. My daughter also had Barbara help us look our absolute best. The wedding was on a Monday so we went to the salon where she works rather than have Barbara come to us. Fortunately for us, this was near the wedding site. Barbara even went to a beauty supply store to get the RIGHT color eye shadow for my dress as she was not satisfied with the colors in her arsenal at the shop. My daughter wore a 20's vintage style dress. The hairdo Barbara designed for her was chic and appropriate for the attire.

I recently hosted a "Walking Dead" event and needed a skilled, special effects makeup artist. As a caterer & event designer, details mean everything to me. Barbara came highly recommended from the ladies at the Neiman Marcus, Tysons Galleria makeup counters. I called Barbara and just from our initial convo, I knew that I found someone who could execute my vision. I didn't want the blood and gore associated with zombies/walkers, but rather, a more artistic, high-fashion approach to the theme. Barbara understood exactly what I wanted, and offered suggestions to electrify "the look" even more electrifying. I was so confident with Barbara, that I didn't even request a face-to-face consultation or trial run. For a perfectionist like myself, in a business where no detail can be ignored, this is how much faith I had in Barbara. On the day of my event, Barb, and her assistant Allie, arrived early, with plenty of time to set up for what soon became an amazing production. The experience was so surreal, as they transformed me into a "walker" like no other. My makeup was perfect, the airbrushed body art was phenomenal, and my hair was fabulous. The over-all look was extraordinary. While Barb was hired to only do my hair & makeup, she wanted to be sure that my staff people working this event, were also perfect. While they had planned to do their own hair and makeup, Barb and Allie took over with only moments left to spare before showtime. They transformed 12 of my staff people so that their look was a spin-off of mine. This super-chaotic period of time truly showed Barb's professionalism and skill under pressure. I put down "corporate event" because it seemed to be the closest to the type of event in the list of choices. But actually, I am a singer/performer and I have worked with Barbara at music events where she was hired by the concert promoter doing makeup and hair styling. On Aug 3rd 2013 Barbara was hired to do makeup and hair on site for all of the performers on a Tribute to the Rolling Stones concert at the Fillmore that I performed on. I was extremely lucky to have access to her services. What a treat!

I was so impressed with her skill and attitude, I hired her in October 2013 to do hair and makeup for my next professional photo shoot. She was completely booked up on the day of the photo shoot but she accommodated me by coming in early in the am to get me in and out before her first clients of the day. I also got some wardrobe advice on the fly. (cha-ching)

She basically had to do make up and hair that would last until and throughout the photo shoot which wasn't until 3 to 5 that afternoon. I walked out of her salon feeling like a million bucks. My photographer even commented that whoever had done my makeup had done a fabulous job making his job that much easier. I went straight to a gig from the photo shoot and performed a two hour show—where I continued to get a parade of compliments on my appearance. That is some serious lasting power!

Since then I have hired Barbara to do my hair and makeup at an upcoming performance at the Rams Head Annapolis January 12th 2014. (I don't bother with hiring hair and makeup for smaller shows I just use the tips and tricks she taught me to do my own, but for bigger shows or ones that will be photographed or filmed, I wouldn't think of hiring anyone else.)

Would I recommend Barbara? Yes, highly. She has become my go to gal for professional beauty!

I don't think I have ever received so many compliments in my life! Barbara made my wish come true - which is that a bride looks her best on the wedding day. After all these are the pictures that would be hung in our living room, seen by so many and passed down the generations! Whatever I wanted, Barbara delivered. I wanted my eyes to be the highlight, and my dead straight hair to be all curled up greek style. And she had her creative inputs.
