Had a workplace dinner at this place. Staff were attentive and polite. The food was delicious and it was one of few places that can make a great calamari that isn't rubbery. I had the lobster and shrimp Mac and cheese dish and it was wonderful. Had a bit of a spicy kick that I wasn't expecting and tasted great. They served our party of 10 relatively fast for the meal we had. The room we were in also made it private enough that we could hold a conversation that the whole party could contribute to without having to over speak the rest of the diners. For my first visit, and joined by my out-of-town guests, we visited Basil’s based on several recommendations. I was pleasantly surprised by the warm atmosphere, attentive staff, and delicious food. One recommendation-a true vegetarian pasta option. I had the cream pesto fettuccine dish without the chicken however it would have been nice to have a true dish or option suited for vegetarians. I ate there Friday night. They have great food and the atmosphere is very comfortable. They have a wonderful outdoor eating area. Unfortunately the service was terrible. When we arrived at approx. 8pm we were told it would be a half out wait. So we gave our name and went to bar. Hostess told us we could not wait on patio where couches and chairs are because there were not anyone to wait on us. So we get our drinks and we ask bartender can we sit outside while we wait. She says yes , but no service you will have to come back in for more drinks. I’m not sure why there was a wait there were so many open tables inside and outside. It was just obvious they did not have enough help. The wait ended up be short and they sit us at the only high top outside didn’t ask if ok when there were clearly many open tables. Had to ask for water, silverware, specials, my second glass of wine was incorrect. It was just a very tense and uncomfortable evening there.
