I always shop for special occasions at Barths. We hosted a dinner party for the lead contractors who completed our house remodeling, new deck and landscaping on Saturday. I got my usual favorite prime filets and some 3 strips for the grill. I also ordered ahead bacon wrapped scallops, twice baked potatoes, blanched asparagus. I also picked up some 1/3 inc bacons slices to grill and serve with the tomato, mozz and basil salad. Thanks to my friend Jim Barth the food was a total hit - perfect! Whenever I come to NJ to visit my grandkids, I always stop at Barth’s. This is the only butcher where I can find foods made in a traditional European style, like old-fashioned bologna, hot dogs, head cheese, and weisswurst. When I get back home, my other grandkids dive right into the bologna; it’s the only one they eat! Now that spring is here, I’ll be grabbing some of the marinated steaks too.
