Recommend Everything. I was so sad when they moved off M43 to stadium. I admit I just wouldn’t go because location and traffic. Stopped today for the first time since they moved -yes several years now- and got a few things. but I have to note the take and bake smoked brisket pizza and the jerky spread for crackers are top notch. Barrett's has the best pulled pork in southwestern Michigan in our opinion!  The Oakland and Stadium locations are always clean, and the staff are very friendly.  The one item on their menu that is lacking, in our opinion, is the beans.  I was truly disappointed in them.  With smoked meats that great, I expected their beans to be much better in flavor and have pulled pork in it versus ground burger.  The flavor the beans also was disappointing -- not much flavor.  In fact, I think if I went to the grocery store and bought a can of a certain brand name and took them home and microwaved them, those would be better.  Their pulled pork sandwiches and meats are what bring us back!  Whether you take it home or eat in, you will definitely enjoy their meats!  If you like to mix sauces, they have several to choose from -- spicy, tangy, and sweet!  Personally, I like mixing the three together.  Their pulled pork sandwiches are piled high with meat, too! I went here on a Sunday when they opened. Very nice place. VERRRY CLEAN! Loved the set up.They had a variety of things that they sold. It's more set up like a deli with other things that you can buy off of the shelves. They have different types of lunch meats that you can buy, nuts, chocolates,smoked fish, etc and you can also order cooked food. I ordered the brisket sandwich that was recommended to me by my brother who loved it. All I can say is , absolutely delicious. The meat was plentiful, good flavor, and the meat was tender. Just a very good place and the prices were really good. The sandwich was only about $9. The best chopped brisket sandwich I've had in town. The brisket is always tender and juicy. So much that it soaks into the bun. I love their horseradish creamy sauce too! Slather that right into my brisket!The three meat platter was just what my no-carb eating husband needed. Awesome smoked meats. Has amazing meat cases and store inside as well. Can get venison which is a plus. We also ate in today can get smoked meats by pound, sandwiches, and meals with sides. Everything I've had here is outstanding. The potato salad with smoked bacon, the pea salad with cheddar and bacon, summer sausage, but by all means, get the brisket. Barrett's Smokehouse creates the most sublime cheese!Yes, they also cure their own meats, which are very good, but I am a true fan of their cheese. I've tried several of them and enjoyed them all. My favorite is probably their White Cheddar Horseradish.Remember that these cheeses and meats don't need to be refrigerated, but kept at room temperature until you open the package, so they aren't high-end or gourmet. Love love love and did I say love? The smells when you walk in the door are amazing! The smell of beef  really gets your mouth watering! Now for me, I'm picky! I grew up in a house with a taxidermist, Hunter and mountain man lol, so you have to know how to make some jerky, how to cut beef and how to cook your pork! Man does this place pass the freaking test! They have such a yummy selection of meats, steak, pork  jerky, venison  AND they have FUDGE! omg yes  fudge! This place is super cool! Barrett's has always been a family favorite. They have great smoked foods, a butcher counter, and a small store with all kinds of great stuff to but from jerky to chips to drinks  to almost anything else you would want. However the best part is the restaurant. They make all kinds of bbq food. My kids love the beef brisket and pulled pork. My wife goes for the turkey breast and I go for the special sandwich like the smothered and covered an open face beef brisket sandwich with mashed potatoes, homemade chili, and cheese. Our party of five adults and one baby visited the Stadium Drive location after moving our son back to WMU and previously visited (and enjoyed) the Portage location, so we were excited to have another location so close to campus. We were greeted by a pleasant young man and a delightful woman who guided us through the meal selection (we were unsure of what to pick). Shortly after seating ourselves, the meal was brought out and she knew who ordered what. She kindly mentioned they were closed but to take our time and enjoy, but not to the alarm to find the front door lock. LOL. She said it in the best way possible. We felt bad because we didn't realize we were so close to closing, but she made us very comfortable and welcomed despite that fact. Would definitely go back here again. I don't really eat pork not a big fan of it, but I will eat a southern style pulled pork with the sweet BBQ! It's delicious except I take about 80% of the meat off since it way too much for me but my husband enjoys eating when I take off lol. Delicious food, amazing selection of drinks including tea (sweet, nonsweeted, and raspberry)! Combo meals do not come with drinks, not a huge problem just good to know as I was not asked if I wanted a drink and had to go back to get one after. Mac and Cheese for a side is a great choice every time. Sandwiches are not drowning in sauce which is nice. Grab napkins as even a careful will get BBQ sauce on thier hands with the sandwich.
