We would hire Baron again.  Extremely happy with a recent addition to our house.  They managed the project end to end, including the early stages where we needed to permit an old structure that we had inherited.  The project was done for a flat fee (excluding finished materials), with zero surprise costs after the plans were finalized.  They started almost immediately and finished quickly in just a couple of months ... a few weeks ahead of schedule. Our addition was at the far back end of our home, and a top priority for us was to ensure our finished landscaping, hardscape/driveway, etc were not damaged during the project.  The crew was generally very careful and respectful, they put down mats, tarps, plywood.  They used hand tools to dig.  When they had to pour the concrete for the foundation, they carefully ran a hose of several hundred feet from the street and navigated all our plants, pool equipment, etc nicely.Eli was our project manager and he was terrific.  He kept in touch 3-5x/week, offered many functional, aesthetic, and cost saving suggestions along the way, even came with us for some of the material purchases to guide us, introduce us to vendors/discounts, etc.  He was also a super nice guy, wonderful with our dogs and kids.  Highly recommend More...

This was all done in the agreed-upon time frame and for a fair price. Their work is quality, their representatives were friendly and clear in their communication. I can answer "yes" to all of these questions. I highly recommend Eli Ben, project manager for Baron Construction. He always called me back, if not immediately, it was after he got out of a meeting. He was always there, every step of the way. If not there physically, he was a phone call or text away. So if you are looking for a project manager that is reliable, Eli Ben is your man. Baron Construction just completed a complex remodel for us.  The kitchen was relocated for the objective of enlargement, without adding any square footage to the house.  The kitchen and the family room switched places. This involved jackhammers for trenches to relocate plumbing, removal of a gas fireplace, blocking off a window, installation of new windows, flooring, electrical, etc.  Eli, the project manager, coordinated all aspects of the job.  Baron took responsibility for creating architectural drawings and followed through to obtain a city permit.Once the permit was issued, the clock started, and the job was completed as promised within 14 weeks.  Baron's contract price was for a flat fee.  The firm price quoted seemed high, but in the end, it appears that the price was fair.  There was one surprise "change order" due to an unknowable pipe location that required special plumbing work.  We excluded Baron from doing the cabinetry & countertop fabrication since several friends had highly recommended a particular company in San Jose. It's called Woodenbridge Fine Joinery, --an excellent choice. The project proceeded smoothly, with few days lost due to other ongoing projects.  There is a definite sequence of work that must be followed, and Eli skillfully kept the various trades well scheduled to keep things moving. The crew, all qualified subcontractors, were conscientious and worked without much supervision.  My presence on-site to field questions and catch some things that needed revision, was necessary.  The layout drawings --not Baron's responsibility, did not show specs for every detail.Baron Construction's project manager was extremely accommodating, and offered many helpful suggestions. From the first work day, when the crew moved our furniture into the garage for storage, to the final clean-up day, I was confident that the final result would be as I envisioned.  Baron accomplished my objective.. My husband and I decided to renovate our kitchen. After getting some estimates, we decided to choose Baron construction. This job included removing a wall, two fireplaces, all cabinets, countertops and appliances and then installing new fireplace, cabinets, quartz waterfall island, quartz countertops and backsplash.

Every construction project has some hiccups here and there, ultimately it's the end products that count. We are very pleased with our new kitchen and fireplace. The quartz for the island was cut and installed wonderfully. Wow factors are definitely there.

An incremental payment schedule was provided. All changes during the project were itemized and approved by us prior to work. We paid as various stages of the work were completed.

Overall, We are happy with the way our kitchen turned out and we could not be more pleased with Baron Construction and all the products of their team's work.

We just completed a complicated kitchen remodel and full bath remodel with Baron Construction. The project was completed on time, actually early, and for the most part within budget. There are always a few surprises with a project dealing with an 80 year old house and constraints imposed by our first major remodel a number of years ago, not to mention current building codes. Our project manager Eli and his assistant Obi where wonderful to work with and the Baron’s management model is unique and ensures positive communication and rapid problem solving throughout the project process. Further, the actual work did not start until all critical decisions were made and key materials in place or their delivery date assured, e.g. new kitchen cabinets. This was essential to project timing and minimizing our disruption.

In addition, the on site construction crew was amazing. They were there every day, as promised, and a pleasure to have in our house. Fernando is a master craftsman and even the Palo Alto building inspector told us (in front of Fernando) that he was an amazing builder who did everything according to best practices and worked to perfection. He solves problems and is so conscientious. What a prize Baron has in Fernando....and those who work with him as well.

Our new kitchen cabinets had to to fit exact specifications for a variety of reasons and this was very important to us. Eli and Obi did meticulous measurements and the cabinet makers did an excellent job as did the installers, Marco and Carlos. They worked hard to have the cabinets just perfectly placed. They were true perfectionists.

Eli and Obi were more than fair in listening to our requests and satisfying our needs. They worked around our schedule to insure work timing was handled correctly. And, when the few problems did occur, the Baron’s team was on top of them and they were resolved to keep the project on track and meet our specific needs.

The contract for the work was fair. The only real issue for us was that the allowances were somewhat low. We went over because we selected more expensive products. We would encourage more generous allowances with the contract budget adjusted accordingly.

Overall we could not be more pleased with Baron Construction, their management team and all the products of their full team’s work. We are thrilled with our finished product and would certainly use Baron again. A big Thank You!!!

Outstanding experience with this company and my contact with them, Eli Ben.  We needed some dry rot repaired on the house exterior, per our HOA, and decided we could find other stuff for them to do while they were here. Our garage was a ghetto mess of bared joists and graffiti (thanks to prior tenants of the home).  We had it completely finished with new drywall, paint, baseboard, and a new epoxy floor.  Recessed lighting was installed and new outlets placed.  It looks amazing and we love it.We had the same kind of recessed lights put in our kitchen.  Our townhouse is almost 50 years old, so there was asbestos to deal with.  Baron is certified in asbestos abatement and they created a positive pressure environment for the kitchen and garage when removing that material.  All workers wore appropriate respirators and protective clothes. The dry rot on the front of the house was not extensive, but did require some replacement of wood and treatment for termites.  The work was done to excellent quality (it was cosmetic so did not require any permit or approval from the HOA).There were minor problems that are unavoidable in remodeling work, and all were handled promptly and with exceptional care and attention to my convenience and directions. This company and its employees are competent, friendly, attentive and very skilled at their trades.  The necessary permit from the city was handled, and an incremented payment schedule was provided.  All changes during the project were itemized and approved by me prior to work.  We paid piecemeal as various stages of the work were completed.  No problems with this.Excellent communication and courtesy.  I am pleased enough with the results that my husband and I have already signed a contract for a master bathroom remodel next year.  Thank you, Eli! Baron rebuilt our shower to exacting specifications after a previous tile replacement done with another contractor failed just like the original tile. The resulting work is sturdy and beautiful, and we couldn't be happier with the results.

We had the pleasure of working with Eddie on project management and Lucas as our foreman. Both Eddie and Lucas were very prompt, professional, and knowledgeable. Any time we had a question, they were available to answer. Although it didn't have any material effect on the job, we also really enjoyed just chatting with Eddie and Lucas when they were around. Everyone we dealt with felt warm and genuine and it made the whole process a lot more pleasant.

Now, the work wasn't cheap and we did have some overruns on time estimates, but nothing outrageous. When something would go longer than expected, Eddie always kept us in the loop as to why.

All things considered, we would absolutely use Baron again and would recommend them to anyone who's willing to pay for great craftsmanship.

Craftsmanship at Baron Construction is world class! We had the pleasure of working with project manager Ron who worked with us from project definition all the way till the everything was fully completed including the professional power wash to remove any type of debris on the drive way. Ron was with us every step of the way throughout the project and was always super responsive via phone/email/txt. In addition, Ron always came over to check-in with us to ensure we're happy with the progress and accommodated to our busy schedule by coming in later in the evenings after we're done with the kids' dinner.

We contacted Baron in Dec 2017 when we purchased our home and wanted them to update 3 of the bathrooms. After a walk through of the existing bathrooms, measurements were taken and we received a formal detailed quote. The 2nd best aspect (the best being their quality of work) of working with Baron is how they never nickle and dimed us - what we paid for the project was exactly what they quoted at the start + fair adjustments due to us adding wet-walls in 2 of the bathrooms (which we didn't want initially when we started the project).

The only criticism we had with Baron is the length of time it took the finish the bathrooms. We were originally told it'd take 3-4 months and it ended up taking 6 months. Part of that is our fault because we had guests over and had to stop construction for a couple of weeks which caused downstream delays. The wait was well worth it because the masterful work of Sergio (who does tiles) was simply amazing. Overall we were extremely happy with the way the bathrooms turned out so we just wanted to take a few mins to acknowledge their amazing work here on Houzz!

Additionally, we had them demolish a lot of the old concrete in our backyard and redo it with a new yard and small deck. Yelpers - here's what I sent Mike Baron-owner of Baron Construction :-)Hi Mike - This email is for YOU!  It's going to be a long one, so grab a cup of coffee, get comfy and enjoy the read because you're going to LOVE IT !    My name is Diane.  Your team recently finished a small kitchen and laundry room remodel for me:  kitchen counter tops replaced, backsplash added, new sink, laundry room floor replaced, countertop replaced, new sink, new lighting/fan and shelf installed.  The job completed at the end of June.    Now, this is where it gets enjoyable....let's start with Ron - THE Best!   :-)    Ron Hogan showed up to give me the bid.  Baron was my first bid.  He came into my home and let me share what my idea was for the work I wanted to get done.  He was friendly, knowledgeable, GREAT personality and asked the right level of questions and detail to provide a bid.  He walked me through the end to end process of how the project would work.    When he told me, he'd be the project manager, I was delighted.  MOST contractors send estimators out to bid and then turn the project over to a "stranger" (you meet them after you've already awarded the job).  This model of "estimator" owns the end to end project is AWESOME!  Because of RON, seriously...I didn't have anyone else bid.  Some people would say that's stupid, but as I tell people everyday in business....."people do business with people they like".  Ron is extremely likeable and someone I knew from that first meeting that I could trust.    He shepherded this project perfectly.  He was phenomenal at keeping me calm when I got "wound up" once because of the tight timeline we needed because of the pending birth of my 2nd grandchild.  Ron explained EVERYTHING to me in as much detail as I wanted.  He educated me and I learned quite a bit about construction as a result. Ron is patient and thoughtful.  He is truly PHENOMENAL and an amazing asset to your team.    Ron helped me pick out sinks and faucets and thanks to Cheryl, was able to ship all of it to your site until the project was ready to start.  Cheryl was fantastic at keeping me abreast of when the various shipments arrived.  It took a lot of work off of my plate, not having to follow up.  She proactively notified me!  Very grateful for her!    Next up....Jose!  "Jose, the tile guy".  WOW !  What an artist and what a perfectionist.  Again, like Ron, his approach with me was perfect.  Ron told me that Jose wanted to "meet me" before he started the work.  We met, I told him what I wanted.  He explained how he would lay out the backsplash, etc.  He is DELIGHTFUL.   He saved me time and $$.  I had picked out a grout color based on the the small quartz sample at the tile depot.  When the counters got installed and he was ready to do grout work ( on the weekend by the way to ensure we hit the timeline) he called me while I was out (ok'd by Ron) to tell me he didn't think I would like the grout color!  He sent me pictures and sure enough I didn't like the color once I saw it up against the entire new quartz counter top.   The reality is, many contractors would have said "this is what she picked", so I'm going to do the work.  I would have come home, hated it and would have had to pay to do it over.  Jose, Jose, Jose - MY HERO!  He picked out a grout color that he recommended and we went with it.  The backsplash looks beautiful.  Jose was also meticulous in the laundry room explaining how he would lay the floor down and do the baseboards.    And then we had Randy, Jimmy and Dan - the "carpentry and everything else crew" !  Wow, those guys work hard.  All three were very nice, professional and again perfectionists.  They had a great sense of humor and clearly worked well together as a team and I enjoyed having them in my home as a result.  We cranked up the rock and roll and they took care of business!    When the job was wrapping up, Ron had some well deserved PTO, so the walk-through punch list was handled by Hollis.  Ron had brought Hollis over the day before the final sign off to meet me.  Again - a very important gesture, a seamless transition from Ron to Hollis.  Hollis was FANTASTIC!  We reviewed everything in detail.  He assured me that if anything came up after he left, that they would take care of it.  Customer Service at its FINEST!    THANK YOU and your amazing TEAM.  I absolutely love my kitchen and laundry room!  The entire end to end experience was DELIGHTFUL!    I've attached pics for your viewing pleasure.    And the icing on the cake?  Ron had  flowers sent yesterday from Baron Construction to celebrate the birth of my 2nd grandson.    That's a huge WOW factor!  I posted the pic of the flowers yesterday on Facebook and my friends can't believe it.  I suspect I'll be referring some friends your way!    I also posted the new kitchen and laundry room in early July and people loved the work.    Your team ROCKS!    Best,    Diane Dxxxxx More...

I interviewed Mike Baron, owner of Baron Construction & Remodeling Co, to remodel my ranch style home to an up to date open concept look. I knew within 10 minutes that this was going to be a good working relationship and I was going to hire his company for this project. The first thing that impressed me was I had a long list of things I wanted done and he glanced at it, put it aside and just listened to my ideas. We did a walk through the house and the first thing he noticed was the foundation in the TV room was sloping and needed to be replaced. This was not on my list but he recommended this be my first priority and I’m glad I agreed. The moldy musty smell that was plaguing me disappeared and the floor is now even.

I was fortunate to have Mike work with me on the whole project. As a client I appreciated the consistency and confidence working with one person and helping with the design and selection of materials. This was very important to me and high on my list. I also appreciated working with the same onsite people when possible.

The scope of the project entailed new wood floors, crown molding and baseboards throughout the house. A beautiful custom fitted cabinet under a wall mounted TV with matching floating shelves in the front room.

The entryway into the kitchen was enlarged to give it the open concept look I wanted. The kitchen was enhanced with a quartz countertop, sink, beautiful backsplash, shaker cabinets/drawers and hardware.

Replacing the old brick with natural stone and a streamline mantle changed the existing fireplace.

The master shower was gutted and replaced with a decorative mosaic tile strip, large complimentary tiles for the shower walls and bathroom floor, frameless glass shower doors and an infinity drain. The mosaic tile was also used as the backsplash behind the bathroom sinks and an area behind the toilet.

The interior walls were freshly painted with an accent wall in the living room and TV room. The exterior of the house took on a whole new look with a change of color.

I do want to qualify that it appears that the project took a long time but this was my decision not the contractor. We have two additional projects that will be completed this year and I will be finished with my long dream list!

So the questions are: Would I hire Baron Construction & Remodeling Co again; would I recommend this company to others; Am I happy with the results? Answer: Absolutely.

I would highly recommend Baron Construction. We were working with another GC and parted ways because he did not finish the work in a timely manner, etc. Three neighbors were working with Mike Baron and were very happy with him. We spoke to Mike and he helped us finish our final inspection. He also helped us do corrections from previous GC. The experience was like night and day. No longer were we stressed and frustrated. Everyone was professional, work quality was excellent, and deadlines were met. More...

I would highly recommend Baron Construction & Remodeling. We were working with another GC to add a bathroom and new kitchen. The project was to have been completed in eight months. Instead it took more than a year and a half and the project was still not completed. My husband and I were very stressed and frustrated as the GC and workers did not show up to work everyday.
Baron Construction was doing a remodel for three of my neighbors. They were all very happy with Baron Construction. We decided to part ways with our GC. Mike decided to help us finish our project so we would pass our final inspection. Needless to say, we were very happy and relieved to be working with Mike Baron. He checked the job site often and saw that things ran very smoothly for us. Everyone from the job crew to the office staff is very professional, friendly, and efficient. Very happy with the quality of their work. Each project has been completed in a timely manner. We still have little projects that they are helping us correct from the last GC. I would highly recommend them.

Every construction projects have some hiccups here and there, ultimately it's the end products that count.  We are very pleased with our bathroom and new fireplace, wow factors are definitely there.  In terms of cost, Baron's quote in the middle of 3 estimates I have.  There were not many surprises in terms of cost once contract was signed except for the change order we initiated.  We think the cost is reasonable, design fee is included (no huge surprise like previous design build company we used).  We also can buy our own finished materials unlike the previous company, insisted on their providing all the stuff and charged a % of course.Ron is our project manager, he is friendly and responsive (even night and weekend).  In general, I find him honest and is readily to resolve any issues arise in the projects.  They are many aspects of the projects, the tile works are the best I have seen in terms design/suggestions compared to other works we have done.  Carpentry workmanship is good. The only complaint is probably the timeline ...  I wish things are completed much sooner but as my husband and friends commented it could well because of the *high spec* and requirements.    Overall, these are so far the best remodeling we have. My kitchen not only is beautiful but much more functional. I feel like I'm in a spa in my master bath. It took quite a while to finish all the work but was well worth it. More...

We really enjoyed our remodeling process with Baron. We interviewed a couple of contractors and are glad that we made the right choice. Eli has been really pleasant to work with from the very beginning through the end. He is responsive, professional and paid attention to details. Luis and Emilio, who worked onsite were fairly hard-working and friendly. Though it took a bit longer and extra rework to install the tiles perfectly, it was an overall smooth and efficient process. I never thought that remodeling could be as hassle-free as Mike and his team made it to be. Last year, my husband and I had a grand plan to remodel our kitchen. We had been getting into cooking and loved entertaining that we felt it was time to make the plunge! I learned about Baron Construction from a friend who spoke very highly of them. All I can say is that our decision to get our kitchen remodeled and to work with Mike has been ONE OF THE BEST DECISIONS for our family ever. The whole process went by smoothly. We set up an estimate and then they promptly started with the work. They made the house very livable and they were there to answer any questions. Now the finished product was wonderful! I don't know how we could have waited this long for the kitchen remodel. We got our dream kitchen and even if our home was built in 1988, it made our house look brand new. The cost was reasonable and very worth it due to high quality. Very satisfied and I cannot wait to get other parts of the home done by Mike and team too. More...

They listened to us about what design we wanted and delivered on it. Everytime we had a question, the team was always one call away.
