Very pretty lobby. Rooms were nice, fairly simple decor. I liked the mini fridge and microwave. The college visit discount was an added bonus.

Classic Superior restaurant. I usually go for the all you can eat fish fry on Fridays. It has the feel and quality of most Wisconsin supper clubs, but has been recently remodeled, so it's a bit cleaner than you might expect.

The staff and owner are very good at their business. Service was prompt. Food was excellent. Pool and hot tub were available. Beds were comfy!! Will be back.

This grill might be a little hidden being that it's in a hotel, but I would highly recommend that you seek it out. The restaurant which was once old, outdated, and ordinary, has worked hard to change that image, and I think it's paying off. The food was extraordinary. I had a burger that I would happily eat every day for the rest of my life. The space itself is still a little outdated, but the wait staff are wonderful and the food is definitely worth trying out! What's great about Barker's is the location. Barker's Island is a man-made island and in the hotel I imagine you have water views in just about every room. You are near about 4 different museums and not far from other points if interest in Superior WI, and about 10 minutes from Duluth, MN. The hotel appears to date from the '70's, but there have been some upgrades. The rooms are comfortable and clean. Not super-stylish. The bar is pretty popular and they have ample seating, and TV's if you're looking for sports. The food in the restaurant was good both times I've eaten there. I wish i had gotten the names of the employees to give them all a 5 star rating. We stayed one night in the hopes of seeing beautiful fall colors. Mother Nature did not disappoint and neither did Barkers Island Inn. Check in was a breeze, the room was clean, comfortable and quiet. Sat in the bar area and enjoyed a few drinks. Bar tender was very nice. Breakfast in the morning was a delight! They probably should have had someone helping the waitress clear the tables but she did a fabulous job helping everyone and doing it all by herself! and she was cheerful as well! It is a sprawling two story place. The lobby is nice with plush leather chairs and a fake fire. A bar is right there. When we got there, there was wedding reception. It was pandemonium. The front desk staff was not the greatest. To me and my wife, it felt that the staff really did not care about the guests. They do not have a breakfast or discounts during the weekend. The person on the front desk said that it was the cheapest hotel in the area. I did check and it was one of the cheapest. We also saw a member of a tribute band, and people from rich to poor. Since this is a sprawling hotel, follow the signs if you are directionally challenged you can get lost. ||||The pool area, has a small arcade, a sauna (this was the best), pool, and a jacuzzi which was a little cool. The lighting was great and I saw a group meet here and people playing cards. They do not allow guests to have gusts in the pool area. On the second floor there may have been rooms off of the pool so noise may be issue. ||||They also had a ball room.||||The room we had was pretty quiet, you could hear people in the hallway but for the most part the hallway was quiet. The room did have a slight smell, and the sheets were crinkled with a red thread under the sheet (it was not blood). There were signs of age with some cracks and a very difficult to use handle on the bathtub. The room was a good size and had a nice view of the lake. ||||This hotel is secluded but at the same time near enough to the freeway. It is near a small military museum, marina, miniature golf, and ship museum. It is also within five minutes of restaurants and places to go. Duluth is just over a bridge. More...
