This is the best karaoke. It may even be the most fun thing to do in Portand. The KJ's are so friendly and they have a superior song collection, better than anywhere else. Ketten is flawless karaoke. Everyone sounds good and it's always a great time. I go out of my way to make it to Baby Ketten because when I'm there they make me feel like a rock star in a room full of rock stars. Leaving a review after I've left Portland probs defeats the purpose. Baby Ketten has the best song list and KJ, hands down. I followed KJ John Brophy all over town to bask in the awesome. I had five friends when I started going to Baby Ketten and then I had a whole community. BKK is truly above and beyond just a night out. Its much more than rock blocks and themed nights, and you really can't beat the quality of sound and attention to detail from the variety in the songbooks to the comedic timing of its hosts. It was a pleasure working with John at Baby Ketten Karaoke for our October wedding at Union Pine. We chose to do karaoke over a traditional DJ/dancing - & singing & dancing our hearts out with friends & family was such a fun way to spend our reception! I was in contact with John on & off for over a year as I planned my wedding & he remained friendly & responsive throughout. He was very familiar with our venue & everything went off without a hitch. This review is for Baby Ketten Traveling Karaoke Services, by us the band of self proclaimed Karaoke nerds. We are a hand full of friends that go out of our way to find and review karaoke spots in and around the Portland metro area.  Baby Ketten are a mobile karaoke unit that have a few dates booked in and around the Portland metro area. I am sure their webpage have the scoop on dates TBA. The main draw is the fact that they make their own karaoke tracks.  So one can find songs from popular underground artists like warpaint, florence and the machine, and the Civil Wars. One thing that could be improved is their technical skills as per the sound system.  One should not tell the singer to put their lips directly on the mic. (that is full of germs I am sure)  One needs to sharpen skills to balance sound properly.  As a seasoned singer of 30 years I project extremely well and use proper mic technique.  This Mobile KJ unit is so popular one might only get to sing one song.  This is not worth it to me to drive, bike, or bus across town to sing one song.  Hey, but if singing is not that important to you trend is by all means the song list is worth checking out.  Oh and BTW their jar comes with a sign that recommends that the singer pay at least a dollar per track that one sings. Doesn't the venue pay the KJ's anymore? I understand tips but this makes one feel that it is expected.  I would visit  Ketten again but just not on a regular basis.  I like to sing at least 4-6 tracks per night.  Again...love the song list. Dig deep into your wildest Karaoke dreams. Baby Ketten Karaoke is all over town. He has a few stable nights around town such as Tuesday at Mississippi Pizza, Saturday at Double Dragon. When in doubt check the Facebook page for updates. People have caught wind of this greatness and they show up in troves. The wait for you're song will be long so just come knowing that and kick back some liquid courage while you wait. And don't sing Bohemian Rhapsody...you think it's a good idea but it's not.
