I would highly recommend Lazar’s service. It has taken 7 long months to convert our 1.5 bedroom into a 2 bedroom and I don’t think we could have finished without him. The job took a long time to finish, but it definitely wasn’t because of him. Lazar was confident from the start that our den to bedroom conversion would meet the necessary building code and pushed back the Co-op’s architect who incorrectly said otherwise. To give some context, others in my building have tried but weren’t able to get approval for the same scope of work and even at the beginning of our project, many said that it won’t be possible (despite realtors advertising as if it’s easy to convert the space for an extra bedroom). I know multiple units that have done the same renovation without filing to DOB, likely because it’s too complicated and costly to do it the right way. Lazar was always confident that he could get the job done because he knew the specific applicable NYC building code code, which apparently is quite complicated. Also, he was able to expedite the DOB approval process through his connections and prior approval experience.

His cost was the most economical among the quotes we received. Other architects tried to break down the quote and add every small item (one even asked to pay his parking fee to visit our apartment). Lazar gave us a reasonable single all-inclusive quote (lump-sum) and that was it. I don't need to hassle with him about increasing price quote (like others normally do) during the process.

There have been various stressors with my renovation, but Lazar has been a steady presence throughout the job, especially in handling the exhausting process of dealing with our Co-op board's architect and the DOB. He is always available for questions and quick to respond in a professional way. Anyone would be lucky to have him for their architectural project in terms of price and quality.

I am really happy to have another one bedroom for my daughter in my apt and much appreciated his endeavor and patient. More...
