We were a little skeptical at first walking in- we didn't know if it was a dressy restaurant or more casual. It is good for both dining experiences. To the left is more of the dining area (dressy) and toward the right is more of the bakery/casual dining. The appetizers we got were baked clams, stuffed mushrooms and the special appetizer of the night which was the fresh crab cake! This was so delicious and beautifully plated with a real purple orchid flower. It had real lump crabmeat and an amazing chipotle mayo sauce.For the entrees we got the special of the night which was tuna steak with a sesame teriyaki glaze, penne vodka with ricotta cheese and eggplant parmigiana. All the entrees where huge in portions and filling! The tuna was seared perfectly and still left a bit rare which was exactly how I wanted it. When it came to dessert they had a book of filled with specialty desserts, pastries, ice cream sorbets and more. We got up to look at the case of desserts which were priced differently than the ones on the menu which was weird- for example in the case it said 3.50$ for a piece of cheesecake for "takeout only" when on the menu it was 6$ a slice. I just found out of this place and took the ~20 minute drive from Brooklyn to try it. Every thing was absolutely fantastic. It's family style so be prepared to eat. If you've been to Carmine's, this place is better. Much more hospitable and affordable. More...
