These guys are awesome!! They did such a great job moving my parents a few months back that I decided to hire them to move me out of my townhome. They were so careful with mine and my parents furniture and were super quick and efficient. I'm pretty sure these guys are super hero's in disguise! Would definitely recommend them! More...

I hired Athens Moving Experts after getting a recommendation from Angie's List. I called and was provided a quote that was a little higher then others I called, but there were no hidden fees, which I appreciated. The office staff answering the phones were very nice and helpful. I did have to cancel last minute due to my home closing date change, however, they were still able to accommodate my move. I had them pick up my items from one house and deliver to the new house the next day. There was a charge for that, but it was worth it. I would like to give a special thanks to the team lead on both days, Omar. He was very friendly and he ensured the move went very smoothly while helping the other men when they needed it. I am editing my previous review after Mike called me. I may have confused them with another company when expecting the drive time to not be included in the price. I am primarily unhappy with my mattresses being wet. Feeling that the time was inaccurate was a much smaller offense that my reaction was heightened to after my mattresses were wet. And by the time being inaccurate I felt that 10-15 minutes should've been excluded from my charge based on breaks and the drive. So again my main complaint is my mattresses. Mike called to discuss the initial review which was not well communicated. He implied that I must not be able to pay my bills since it is a month late and I am just now leaving a review. I corrected him that I felt bad initially and did not want to get the movers in trouble. Especially moving during COVID times, times are hard for many and I didn't want to cause extra grief. The movers mentioned theyd get a bonus if I left a good review so I felt bad if I left a poor review . I kept my unhappiness to myself. After explaining my situation to multiple friends and one in particular this past weekend It reignited my annoyance with the situation and I wrote a review. As a single female proudly paying my own bills, Mike's comment really triggered me. I felt his tone was more accusatory as opposed to trying to understand my point of view. I appreciate him sticking out the conversation, however, as we did eventually reach an understanding. I am not happy that my mattresses got wet. They were clearly sat down in water as only 1-2 edges were wet so it was not just from walking through the rain. Other than that and explaining the misunderstanding with the cost, the movers were nice and professional. If you have concerns I'd recommend calling them the day of or day after and have pictures. Edit: Thank you for your comment, Mike. I agree that there was a miscommunication and I dropped the ball on initially inquiring about your mask policy. For clarification, however, the 14 steps were outside, in an alleyway, to remove the piano from the first location. No reasonable person would demand mask wearing outside up 14 steps. The 6 steps were at the second location - my front stoop into my house. I asked that the masks be worn for that part of the move - into my house, and I was told no. It's a tough time and there are no right answers unfortunately. I understand your position - I am just giving a heads up to others who are interacting with the pandemic like I do. ***I recently bought a used piano and had Athens move it from the piano seller's house to mine. The 3 guys showed up at the first location right on time and worked efficiently. However, if you are concerned about covid transmission, you might want to first check with them on their mask-wearing practices. I was wearing a mask, but the lead walked right up to me for my signatures and I had to request that he first put on a mask since we would obviously be in close contact. He said he didn't know if he had one (!?), but he then found one in the truck and put it on, which was great. Then I asked if they would all please put on masks when they arrived at my house and entered with the piano, and he said that moving a piano is hard physical work and since wearing a mask would be a health risk (!?), they don't ask their guys to wear them. So I made sure to rush to the house before they got there to open up windows for cross breeze, but it was still way less than ideal. I also felt very guilty because the woman who I was getting the piano from -- at the first location -- is elderly and with a severe preexisting condition. I had to apologize for not first ensuring the piano movers I hired would wear masks. :(I hadn't thought to check on this before hiring Athens, because I had used Bellhop a few weeks prior for our move from our apartment into our new house. The apartment was a third floor walk up and we had tons of extremely heavy furniture - latex mattresses, very heavy armoires and desks, etc., and all three guys wore masks (or at least bandannas) for nearly 3 hours straight. So it didn't occur to me that piano movers wouldn't put masks on for the 5 minutes it takes to heft a piano up 6 front steps into someone's house. Again, everything else went fine. No surprise charges, fast work, no other issues. I just want to warn others who may be on the more cautious end of the spectrum, like I am. Call me Karen, but I just think that during an airborne pandemic, more care could be taken - especially when specifically requested. More...

Ah, the stress of moving during a pandemic? Athens Moving relived SO much for me. Khalil and Kyle were so effective and efficient. It's pushing 100 degrees and I'm on the third floor -- not an ideal moving situation. They were so positive and happy to chat/answer any questions.Would 10/10 recommend these guys. We recently moved from California to Cary, NC using a national mover (yuck). Â In NC we put about 2/3 of our stuff into storage and the rest went to a temporary apartment. Â When our new house was ready, I called Athens and set up 2 moves with them - move everything from the storage room to the house first and then move everything from the apartment a week later. Â They were great about figuring out the best way to handle all of the logistics. Â A couple of days before the first move I had to reschedule because the painters weren't finished in the house - Athens was made the change to several days later with no hassle or complaint. Â On the day of the first move, I got a call from the crew about 20 minutes before they would be there, and they were there just when they said. Â The crew was Yoseph, Imron, and Mohammed. Â They were amazing and so nice! Â They carefully put blankets and plastic wrap on all the furniture, and loaded up the truck really quickly. Â At the house they put protectors on the floor and put everything in the right place and unwrapped all the furniture that they had wrapped. Â And they were so fast about it all! Â The second move was a couple of days after that from the apartment to the house. Â We had a different crew: Rasan, Shawn, and Jalin. Â Also fabulous and really nice! Â They also called about 20 minutes before they arrived. Â The garage door at the apartment was broken, but they easily opened it manually and used a screwdriver to hold the door up. Â They wrapped all the furniture, and loaded it all onto the truck really fast. Â At the house, I asked them to move 2 doors up to the attic, which they took care of, and they also hooked up the washing machine. Â They unloaded everything from the truck into the house very quickly - we were going to get a pizza for them for lunch, but they finished so fast we didn't have time! I am so impressed with this moving company! Â I've moved quite a lot of times and this is without a doubt the best movers that I've ever had. Â Thanks for making that part of our move so easy! After several terrible moving experiences, a friend suggested that I try Athens. I am so glad that I did - I will never use another moving company again. I had an all star crew that was professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. Yoseph, Pharaoh, Moe, and Rasan were all top notch.Most importantly, these guys know how to move! They know how to properly pack items to keep them safe during transport and unpacking. The guys worked efficiently too. In past moves, there was a lot of "dilly dallying" around but there was none of that with this crew. The crew also kept calm despite my neurotic tendencies on a crazy closing/ moving day In my opinion, AME is the best in the Raleigh area and I'll only use them in the future. More...
