Ordered food to go. I got the whiting fish with okra and Mac n cheese. The food was fresh and the portion size was great. I just wish the fish came with bread, but it did come with some hush puppies and Cole slaw. I'll be back :)

When I go to a restaurant that has soul food/southern/home cooking style cuisine I always try the fried chicken first. It's usually a good indicator of whether or not the cook knows what they're doing. Today I got the dark meat plate with macaroni and cheese and collards. There was a lot of food-very hearty portions! Two drumsticks and a thigh--and the chicken was excellent! Hot, crispy, well-seasoned. The Mac and cheese had sharp cheddar and very good texture. The collards were littler drier/tougher than I like but that's just my preference. We tried the sweet potato cake and it was delicious! Our servers were attentive and very friendly. I hardly ever give 5 stars so the 4-star rating isn't meant to be negative at all. We will definitely go back. I wish there was a lunch menu, maybe with smaller portions for a cheaper price. More...

First time coming and was really excited to try it after reading such awesome reviews raving about the food. Welp- I tried and I was very disappointed and I wish I could give more stars but I'm being very honest and don't want no one coming in with their mouth set like I did. Not sure if we just came on the wrong day or what but the food was not hitting. The service was so-so and it didn't feel welcoming. I ordered the white dinner with cabbage, green beans and hushpuppies but got cornbread instead. A cheeseburger combo and a lemon pepper 6 wing combo both with a side of fries. The chicken was alright except the wing was way too big for my liking so I didn't eat that. The cabbage was pretty good however the green beans (one of my fav veggies) unfortunately had absolutely no flavor. None! Period. Like the water, broth or whatever they used wasn't seasoned. And adding salt and pepper was a waste of time. My youngest daughter had the cheeseburger which she said had no seasoning. And my oldest got the wing combo and said the lemon pepper seasoning was no where to be found and the chicken pieces were to greasy to eat. This restaurant has really good food. I had a veggie plate with cabbage, collards, okra, green beans. The cabbage was fantastic! !!! The collards, okra, and green beans were really yummy. The person with me had a cheesesteak. He said the seasoning made this one of the best cheesesteak he has ever ate. The is just a place to go and get a meal. They only have a few tables for eating in. Not room for big family meals but I imagine they would fix it to go. I could not give 5 stars due to the very small dining area. More...

I went here for Mother's Day based off a friends recommendation. And let me tell you the food, the price and the service did not disappoint! My mom couldn't decide what she wanted for dinner and she is always complaining about how she is tired of spending money on food and it's just not good! So I made an executive decision to get her some fried chicken livers with rice and gravy and cabbage. I had the chicken wing special and Mac and cheese. (I would have given them five stars but they put the gravy on the livers-which was delicious but they didn't put any on the rice and the sweet tea wasn't quite sweet enough.) Other than those two small things the food was piping hot and delicious. My mom-who is a cook herself talked at length about how good the livers were. She was like "I haven't had anything that good in a long time!" Oh and the cheesecake was good as well-she was very happy with her Mother's Day meal! Thank you Ms. Arlene and staff!
