Authentic and absolutely delicious Georgian food. It's hard to recommend one thing because everything I've tried there is delicious. An absolute must try if you're around the area. I commute an hour to get there and it's 100% worth it. Definitely coming back all the time :) More...

A friend bought a section of entree and dessert items here several weeks ago and invited me to sample them. Everything was good and I've been meaning to check it out for myself. I finally did today! I chose the osuri khachapuri, which looks like a pizza without sauce. It tastes so much better than that, though. The bread is filled with cheese, and has additional cheese on top. The one I chose also had spinach and onions. It's served room temperature from the bakery case, and I wasn't sure if I was supposed to warm it up. I sliced it like a pizza and warmed up my first serving. It was delicious! I went back for more, this time ate it at room temperature, and still really liked it. The bread is much softer than a pizza crust, and it's overall cheesier and therefore more filling. I should get 2-3 good meals out of this! I plan to return soon to try some other items, including the seasoned chicken, roasted potatoes and pastries. More...

Having recently dined at one of my favorite resaurants,  Aragavi Georgian restaurant, I thought it was time I'd post a review.  One of the things I enjoy most is the restaurant's hospitality.  As soon as we walk in, we are always met with a smile and the people are always pleasant and helpful.  They offer a variety of delicious and reasonably priced authentic Georgian cuisine.  I have tried their bread, salads, soup, and of course, their main entries.  Here are my favorites:  Adjarulli Chachapuri (hot cheese bread topped with egg),Dimok (smoked eggplant salad), and Harhco (meat based soup).  For main entries I would suggest their kebabs. I especially enjoy the lamb kebabs. It is a small place so most people carry out, although there are a few tables set up if you prefer to dine in.  If you wish to experience Georgian cuisine, considered one of the best in the world, I recommend Aragavi Georgian restaurant. I visited the Republic of Georgia recently and came up from the city to visit Aragvi to taste my favorite foods from my trip. Tea from behind the counter was so nice and friendly and the cook made me Lobiani to bring to a potluck while we enjoyed khackapuri. She let us try a few other menu items (dessert) as well while we waited. Great service and good food and reasonable prices. More...

Absolutely incredible Georgian food. In a small unassuming strip mall, the bakery stands out with authentic Georgian food. Don't expect a menu or English speaking folks. Research Georgian food before heading out and ask if they have what you want. Or better yet, just order the Khachepuri and believe me you'll be satisfied and just as in love with this food as I am. This place is simply wonderful. First I have to say that the service I received was exceptional but the best service doesn't make the food taste better and this place delivers on both counts.  The minute I walked in I was greeted by the most delicious aromas and smiling faces. I have only been to one restaurant serving this type of food and always order the same things. I decided to order anything but those items. I'm so glad I did.  Here's what I had: Khachapuri. This was amazing! Cheese filled bread. Looks like pizza w/o sauce and tastes like heaven. Lyula kabobs both chicken and ground beef/lamb (my fave) which taste similar to gyro meat. Love it. Creamy dreamy Cucumber and Radish salad. Perfect for a warm day. Very refreshing. Last but soooo not least is the dessert. I chose 2. One was a layered napoleon type that was good as expected but the other was a crispy, flaky cone filled with the stuff of my dreams. Like an upgraded cream horn. I'd go back just for that alone.  Now the service. This place has only been here 9 months and maybe they had a few bumps in the beginning but now you will receive 5 star service I assure you. I came in and ordered all the things listed. They cheerfully packed it up and seemed genuinely happy to help guide me through the menu. All this only to find that my kid had "borrowed" my credit card AND debit card. So embarrassing! They could not have been more patient and kind. Eventually my kid sent a pic of my card and they accepted that with many "No problem. Don't worry."  Also I can promise you I am in no way affiliated with this business or anyone who works here. I just give credit where it's due. This place earned my loyalty. More...

After having served in Georgia for a year, I found myself craving and missing its food. I was so happy to find this place AND ran by Georgians too (I got to practice what little Georgian I remembered). For those of you haven't had the pleasure, Georgian food is amazing. Plenty of meat and spices but also very vegetarian friendly. They have the traditional cheesy bread (which best way to describe it is a cheesy feta) called khachapuri. But my favorite is lobiani which is a puff pastry with mashed beans and Georgian spices in it.The other thing people should know is Georgians are known for their hospitality and I felt right at home when I stepped in.100% reccomend! This is the closest Georgian bakery to us, the only other one is in the city so we decided to give it a try. Everything we ordered was very fresh. The bread was warm and the churchkhela was the most fresh out of any place I've had. I was ordering in Russian and the girl at the counter was very nice explaining to my American friend what everything was. This will be my new go to spot instead of driving all the way to the city. Limited selection but the food was really good.  Had some lamb cubes along with a ground chicken dish.  Really good crusty bread on the side.  Service was good and explained what each item was.  They charged 10 percent more to dine in but that covered the bread and the service.  I didn't really have an issue with that.  Next time I am going to try the cheese stuffed bread.  They may want to consider a cheat sheet for newcomers like me.  Everyone else there seemed to know their way around the menu.   It was something different and I am glad I tried it.  I will be back. Possibly addicting.Chicken kabob - tasty,  slight spiciness but goodPork, great flavor, slightly firm, but as Sherwin indicated, did not taste overcooked.Cutlet, I liked it but tastes like ground chicken mixed with some vegetables or herbs. The prices were extremely reasonable. As several people have noted, it can be difficult to order from here as the food labeling isn't quite the best and there really isn't a set menu to order from. However, I was lucky enough to be helped by a young staff member who was very helpful and patient in helping with my order and ensuring full satisfaction. This did slow down the ordering process a bit though, as I could see a full line form for the dinner rush as I finished my order (though it did move pretty fast overall).Prices are fair and actually fairly good considering the large bakery items or generous portions of meat that you're getting. Decor is pleasant and gives the feel of a slightly more upscale bakery/cafe although there's limited amounts of spaces to sit. Service for me was good, but I can see how it can be difficult to order depending on who you are served by, and if you're not used to ordering ethnic cuisine with little to no descriptions (and sometimes no labels). The food is tasty and a bit different from the typical options you'll find in the area (although familiar if you eat at Kabul House, Pita Inn, and similar restaurants). Here are my thoughts on the different items I tried:Fried potatoes: Kind of meaty, slightly roasted -- slightly seasoned and finished with a touch of parsley. Nice base with other items.Phenovani: Very flaky and buttery crust -- this is like having a crispy croissant filled with suguni cheese.Chicken shish kabob: Probably my favorite item I tried. The wood and coal flavors are strongly infused into the meat which is still tender with nice bits of crispy edges. The meat is well seasoned and flavorful. I wanted to try the lamb, however they were out of it at the time of my review.Pork shish kabob: Flavorful, but a bit firm (not exactly overcooked, but tenderloin is not a fatty cut). The pork cubes were generous in size and held the flavor of the wood and charcoal well (though the chicken held it much better).Imeruli khachapuri: Similar to a pizza, except that the bread is kind of like a big pita and the focus is really on being a cheese bread with no sauce. This was good, though I would've liked to try a version with egg and butter on top (which they did not have at the time of my visit).Overall, a quick and reasonably priced option for Georgian food. Ordering can be a bit challenging, but worth it for the food you get. They can also run out of items at times, but then you get fresher food as a result. If you are not visiting on a weekend during busier hours, I would highly recommend ordering ahead (particularly on weekdays and if you want the Khachapuri, which can take 30-35 minutes to make). Hopefully Aragvi can improve in a few areas from customer suggestions and stay as a popular destination for Georgian cuisine for years to come. More...

Okay so this place is new and from someone who has been to many Georgian restaurants, this is one of the best in Chicago land. All their breads, their soups, their kababs are amazing. I do think they are working out a few kinks as they just opened but I have been back a few times in just a few weeks as I think the food is that yummy. My absolute favorite is their hachipuri which is this delicious flakey bread pastry with cheese on the inside. All their lavash breads are amazing, we especially like the ones with beans. They also have the stuffed egg lavash which is super yummy and unique. Honestly just go and point to whatever looks good to you and it will be guaranteed fresh and delicious. The prices are also fair for the area and I can't wait to especially come back on cold winter nights for some Georgian comfort food as you can tell a lot of heart went into their cooking. Again having been to many in the area, this one is at a different level. Can't wait for their online website to be up! More...
