Looks like a hole in the wall from the outside but this place has lots of character and the food is great. The chicken finger platter is wife's favorite, while I normally try a different sandwich each time. Whatever is on special for the day is typically great as well. For some reason, I always forget about AP Suggins. We had friends from MI in town recently who were visiting KY for the very first time so we wanted a place that served both beer cheese and a hot brown. Suggins checked both boxes so we stopped in on a Friday evening. We had a party of 6 but they seated us right away. We had the beer cheese appetizer, which was a hit with all the new tasters. 4 of the 6 people in our party had the hot brown. I had a veggie plate because I love all the different options Suggins has for veggies. You don't get that kind of variety in sides many places so I had to take advantage of it. **UPDATE:  I've been back to Suggins several times since  my initial review, and it's definitely not all rosy, but still, a good place to watch sports or grab a casual meal.  The service continues to be good and the food just average diner/grill quality.  They can get away with it being a primarily neighborhood joint, which is the owners' niche really.  They also have BLVD, The Tulip, and Nick Ryan's. Went there for the first time yesterday, as I love exploring local joints plus am also a foodie. The place was hopping on a Friday afternoon. .. I ordered the chicken tenders with fries. It was great!!! Loved their honey mustard sauce, which I'm assuming n hoping was made there and not out of a bottle. My friend ordered their grilled chicken breasts with green beans and potatoes. I had lunch with a friend yesterday at Suggins and could not of been more pleased. Â The service, food, environment, cleanliness was excellent. I had a ham and cheese and fries which was one of the days specials. The food arrived quickly and hot. You know how sometimes you get a ham and cheese and the edges of the sandwich are hot (especially with a generous supply of ham - which this was) but the center is cool; well, this sandwich was perfectly cooked throughout. Â My fries were hot and not greasy. The service was prompt and efficient. After our meal, we sat and chatted and the staff left us alone and allowed us to catch up. I have been coming here for years but have not ventured much on the menu. I usually get the buffalo chicken tenders, today I ordered regular chicken tenders. But the table behind us ordered the Hot Brown, so I changed my order to that. And I'm glad I did!!!! It was amazing!! I haven't had one in years, my first one was actually one I made in high school. This Hot Brown was so cheesy and the turkey was not lunch meat it was carved turkey. I ordered carrot cake for dessert and my neighbor ordered Pecan Pie. This just added to the meal!! Every neighborhood tavern should have food as good as Suggins. I mainly stick to three or four things - the bleu cheese burger, the Hot Brown, the fish sandwich, Â or occasionally something from the daily specials board. I can also vouch for the shoestring fries, fried banana peppers and coleslaw. A friend orders the bean burrito fairly often and says it's very good. Friendly and efficient service. Busy at regular lunch and dinner hours, but not insanely so. During off peak hours it's a nice, quiet, out of the way spot for conversation or, if dining alone, some reading over a meal. More...

I came in with little to no expectation. My friend works here and said the food was good so I came in tonight (thursday). It was relatively busy and we were seated immediately . I don't remember our servers name but she was fast and attentive. The food, though, was the star of the show. I ordered the French Dip sandwich and my girlfriend had the Turkey Club and bacon cheese fries. Everything was extremely fresh and delicious. For my first time here, it is WAAAAAAAY overrated.I ordered the Mahi Mahi dinner. $16.95Overcooked, very thin, not served with a lemon,tarter sauce etc. Â just disappointed. Had lunch here a few days ago and even though we came here a bit late, it was very busy! They only had a few waiters on staff for the whole restaurant but our waitress was always attentive and very pleasant. I had the 'chubby fries' for an appetizer. My partner and I scarfed them down. He ended up getting the chicken livers and seemed to enjoy them. I got the burger which was cooked to the correct temperature but was not very flavorful. We both got the Mac and cheese as a side and I could tell they make it from scratch which is always a positive for me. All in all it's a pretty solid restaurant. Went for my birthday dinner with family based on recommendations from coworkers and employee from there. We all enjoyed the food, no complaints. A great restaurant with lots of variety for everyone. Wish they had a bigger location as after 6 parking can be hard to find. Overall it was a good experience. I would recommend sharing entrees as they are rather big for one person to eat by themselves. I ordered a side salad and it was big enough for 2 maybe 3 people to eat off of. Also if you get a chance try the fried banana peppers with ranch. They use the whole banana pepper but are easy to eat. Not spicy at all but rather have a nice sweetness to them. I came here for lunch today and had the "Bowl Plus" which is Chili with tortilla chips. It was very good. I have had their chili at some chili cook offs in the past. It's pretty standard as far Chili goes.  Nothing out of the ordinary here. This is one of my husband's favorite places to go. It is his go to place for his birthday dinner. They have a nice variety of menu options. I had a really great pot roast here that I loved and it's probably for the best that I don't know what day of the week they typically offer it. I've had really good salad there also- they have the "good ranch" dressing- you know like pizza places seem to have. An unassuming structure with a yellow logo for a sign, Suggins should immediately convey it's gonna be good. Their parking lot is the next sign. It was packed and yet there's more parking in back.Plenty of space awaits you inside whether you're a coupe or a large group.The menu is great having everything from burgers, wraps, and salads to fish and steak.
