We had the prime rib special. It was huge. Way more than I could eat in one meal. We ordered appetizers,but probably shouldn't have. The cheesy potatoes were good,so were the bread things they gave us when we were seated. I have one disappointment, the salad, I don't care much for the fancy greens, I prefer iceberg lettuce. Other than that, it was a very good meal. I was impressed with the service, they were very attentive and wanting to please. Upon arrival after a long day walking Starved Rock, we were greeted upon entry and asked if we had reservations. Of course we did not. So i asked if that was an issue, the hostess responded with absolutely not. She asked if we would like to be seated and if so where, so we chose to sit at the bar with the bartender / server Shawna. My husband and I were celebrating our 2nd wedding anniversary and had an absolutely wonderful dining experience. It was our first visit. The mushroom appetizer was perfectly breaded. I was impressed with the bread served at the table as I have never had anything like that before. We love fresh, grilled calamari and prefer it over fried. We asked our server if the calamari was fresh and if we could have it grilled. He was very knowledgeable and was able to get this for us. We ordered the shark special and it was done so well. The salmon was good (honestly, nothing special that made it stand out) and the butternut squash as a side was a delicious option. First off, our server was excellent! I feel bad that I cannot recall his name this morning but he was exactly what I hope for in a server. He knew the specials without hesitation, was attentive without being overbearing and kept us informed on the progress of each dish. My wife and I both came in with a meal in mind but we both changed after hearing about the Caribbean red snapper special. We both got that and both found it to be excellent and will be watching to see when it is offered again. The sauce was incredible. I would love to see it added to the menu. We had the Walleye special with walnuts etc. It intrigued us as it sounded very out of the ordinary. As a result it was a surprise and very tasty. Great special and we would recommend it highly. First time here tonight and I loved every bit of it! Had a ny strip and it was cooked well done and very tender and juicy! I am very impressed by the staff in the kitchen and the employees. Everyone was so friendly and the wait was near to nothing compared to other areas. I will definitely be back but if you ask me this establishment is the best I have found so far for quality of food and quality of service. Had a cosmo and it was wonderful- I love that I can get a martini and it’s made correctly. I love the interactive art posters that they’ve placed throughout the dining area which makes for a personal setting. I give props to the owners and management for their creativity and quality assurance with products. Thank you for being in this area and for giving me such a wonderful experience.
