I stopped by after 5pm, not expecting the store to still be open, but hoping for the off-chance that they stayed open until 6pm. As I walked up, three staff members were walking out and locking up. When they saw me, they asked if I needed anything and happily unlocked the store and went back in and put together a beautiful floral arrangement for me in less than 10 minutes! It was the morning of my daughters wedding and her flowers froze in the trunk of my car the night before. They were droopy calla lilies that now needed some work. I ran to Anderson Mclinay Florist because they were the closest and opened early. I walked in with a very sad bouquet and asked if anyone could help us. Even though there were several other wedding flowers that needed to be done that day from this florist, Les stepped in and said, "No problem, I will call you in a couple of hours." Can't say enough about the amazing service I received from this business. Not only did they phone me.. as I was not able to call them, but did so within minutes of me posting a note explaining the very special and unique circumstances. Then, they were extremely helpful in choosing a floral design, and even phoned me back to suggest a very unique container that they found in their store, which was THE perfect one for the design and purpose. Many years ago I lived in Salem, but now I live in Washington state. I had a need for some flowers this Christmas, and the first florist I called was Anderson McIlnay because I knew the quality of their arrangements from years ago. I am happy to say their quality and customer service has not changed over the years. Les McIlnay was amazing with the service he provided--I didn't know the house number for delivery, and Les knew the family and made delivery to them, which made my life easier. My Father passed away this summer, leaving my Mom, his companion of nearly 70 years to celebrate her 89th birthday today without him. She is currently visiting my Sister in Salem, and while I thought about sending flowers, I didn't act. At last minute, I called a couple of florists who were unable to help me, although one of them recommended Anderson McIlnay. I nearly didn't call, but at 3:30 pm today, I called and was told they could deliver. Bear in mind, they close at 5:00 pm. I was 1800 miles away for an event that a loved one was attending. I so wanted to be there. I ordered the flower "cake" bouquet to be delivered on my sister's birthday. Unfortunately, there was a mix up and it was delivered a week early. I am giving them 5 stars because they were very apologetic and delivered a second beautiful bouquet with a balloon on the date I requested. Both arrangements were spectacular, so I would recommend them. I live on the east coast, so I chose this florist based on reviews. Anderson McIlnah Florist in Salem, OR is the best florist I have ever used! The have the 'Wow' factor when it comes to florer arrangements. Most recently, I had them put together an arrangement for my wife for one of those birthdays that ends with a zero. I won't reveal which one it was because she looks 20 years old to me. Les, at Anderson McIlnay, created an arrangement that caused everyone at her workplace to try to keep it. They were very envious. What an incredible job, Les! I've had many people at their shop to help me through the years and they all have incredible design knowledge with flower arrangements. I was in the 'dog house' and needed flower. I looked online for a florist in the downtown Salem area. I called and spoke with a very helpful woman who listened to my needs and designed a beautiful bouquet that my wife loved! I'll definitely go back.
