This is my new place for a haircut. I had an appointment with Michelle and she was awesome. I walked in a little worried about being a guy in a salon but the front desk girls made a point to make me feel comfortable from the second I walked in. I came in yesterday for a haircut edit on the haircut I got on Monday from a different designer. The designer that cut my hair for my edit was Sasha Cox and she was super friendly and has mad skills with the clippers and scissors. The dramatic fade and hard part that she gave my hair was straight fire, like oh my damn. My hair has never looked this good, literally. The edges of my hair are dramatically faded and very sharp. Sasha was super fun to talk to and we discussed basically anything and everything worth discussing.I would like to add, Sasha is very gentle with the clippers and the haircut was actually very comfortable.Honestly, as a guy whose hair always gets cut wrong, I was beyond impressed with the precision and styling of my hair cut. Sasha really knows what she is doing and cuts hair confidently and expertly.After this haircut, I am probably not letting another person in Asheville touch my hair, it was really that excellent. For a wash, cut, rinse and style it was about 90 minutes ish. That is about the time I would expect anywhere for a fade, hard part and cut/style, wash/post cut rinse as perfect as the one I got. Like literal "wow face".I will be returning in around a month. Ananda downtown is quite simply fab.  Allyson has been doing my do for a year+ now, and I can't imagine going anywhere else.  The saying "you get what you pay for" is very true!  I've tried less expensive places since I moved here but my hair has not looked or felt nicer since I found Allyson and Ananda!  Definitely go here and give her a try, you will love the whole experience! I used Ananda for hair (Maura) and makeup (Sydney) and was very pleased with both. They were able to do my makeup on location. They were running a little late due to traffic which added to my nerves and threw off our photo timeline but we were able to make it work and the ceremony started on time. It's been a while since I've been in this lovely little Salon in the center of my hometown.Having not cut my hair in over 9 months - I'm growing it WAY out. ...I needed to get my locks under control again and Ananda was the first place that came to mind.The whole affair about finally getting my hair trimmed a bit while at work and called so see if I could get a same day appointment...and sure enough they fit me in with Skip Boman.  She did an amazing job putting me at ease with cutting it (I didn't want to set back my progress too far) along with answering all my little questions of curiosity about hair...particularly when it starts getting long.  If you are looking for a stylist...I'd have to say she should be considered top of your list of considerations.Ananda....well what can I say about this place....it is amazing in its modern decor....they support the arts by displaying artists work....staff are nice and professional and the entire front wall is nothing but windows making it feel so open and connected to the all the activity happening on the street.Ananda has a lot going on...and if you haven't tried them yet, you should. You guys - Skip is absolutely incredible. I flew in from Chicago to see her and get my hair cut. I honestly won't even let anyone in Chicago touch my hair, because I just love her so much. I went to her for years and years in Atlanta and can honestly say that she is just the most talented stylist / colorist I have EVER met. Do yourself a favor and go to her - seriously!! She has saved my hair from bad bleach jobs and self-dye jobs, and she creates the most beautiful, lush styles I have ever seen. Ananda itself is a beautiful studio, centrally located in downtown Asheville. It is a large, open space with many smiling faces and good vibes. It is very contemporary and the use Davines products. Oh my goodness! I am obsessed with this salon!! Skip Boman has been doing my hair for the past 8+ years. She moved from Atlanta to Asheville and naturally I had to plan a visit just to come have her do my hair. (I plan to make the trip 2-3 times a year just so I don't have to go through finding a new stylist!)Skip does an AMAZING job, makes you feel really comfortable, & actually listens to your requests. I hate how other stylists in the past have just done what THEY wanted. Skip always has kept my length when I request it and no one can do blonde highlights like she does. Over the years she's taken me red, brunette, and then back to blonde. Recently we've switched over to balayage and I couldn't be happier. My haircuts can grow out fabulously over 3 months and are always consistent.Ananda Hair Studio is a modern feeling studio in the heart of downtown Asheville. All of the staff seemed very sweet and helpful. They offer complimentary craft beer and wine too! I loved the Davines product line they use. Do yourself a favor and book with Skip like now! Skip has done my hair for over 10 years and I now drive from Georgia to Asheville to get it done because she is seriously worth it. She has taken me from platinum blonde to little mermaid red now to a gorgeous blonde/strawberry blonde balayage ombre that I am truly obsessed with. Skip is a complete master of her craft and really takes the time to listen to what you want. I have extremely long (like waist length)/thick hair and if I go in for a 'trim' she will not take anything more off my hair than exactly what we discuss (you long hair girls seriously know how nerve racking it can be getting your hair cut - trust me with her!). I just got one of the best haircuts I've ever gotten after visiting this salon. Clean and cool atmosphere with excellent artwork hanging about and a comfortable shampoo station. They have good deals for new customers and perks for being a repeat customer which I will be for sure ! Ananda is a top notch studio with a great vibe and amazing staff! I've been coming here for two years and have never been disappointed with results or service. I went to See Jonathan, per recommendation of a girlfriend who has great hair.  I am thrilled with the results!  I hadn't been to a stylist in over 5 months and my hair was bleachy blah with crispy ends.  I left completely transformed into a "champagne/beige" blonde, with beveled bangs, and a haircut that eliminated dead ends, without compromising length.  He is truly a talented colorist, and I will go so far as to say this is the best color I've had, ever.  It is worth every penny, and I don't think, over priced at all.  Considering they use natural, high end hair products, spend considerable time and attention to detail, offer complementary services like free bang trims and toner glazes, and have style a notch above other salons, the value is there.  If you have blonde hair, go see Jonathan, he is a master at subtlety, and instinctively understands the shade of your dreams.  I'm sure he is great with other colors, but I have seen a half a dozen colorists, and this blonde is my best blonde More...

I'm on vacation and didn't have time for root touch up before getting here. I was nervous and really had low expectations for the service.  I went with recommendation of concierge at hotel.  I requested a root touch up and NO blow dry.  I have been going to same lady in my town over 6 yrs and don't let anyone else style my hairWell needless to say I was pleasantly surprised!! I even told Tracy I didn't want her to blow dry my hair.  She really didn't want me walking out with wet hair and talked me into allowing her to style it.  She did an awesome job and I loved the style!! And her massage was great when she shampooed my hair - didn't feel rushed and washed rough, relaxing n perfect pressure!!Oh and almost forgot my 11 yr old gets her tips colored brightly during summer only and was in need of a new color before cutting off the dyed part when school starts.  Well when I arrived I noticed they do bright colors and another stylist was able to do her hair without an appt.  She loved her orange/copper colored tips and it didn't take the first time so the stylist added the copper to get a great bright color the second application.Everyone was just fabulous!!! From the first moment you walk in you know you in the right place to get your hair cut. This place is not only full of artists buy full of character and individuals that make it amazing. I enjoy every minute of my time spent there. Jonathan never fails and understands my needs and Taryn makes the magic happen while taking care of my wife. We went to Ananda hair studio for bride and bridesmaids' hair, they did a good job for all of us. Hanna really listens and is very confident in making any bride happy. I have very thick hair and there are some salons who have given me bad haircuts or attitudes due to the amount of hair I have but everyone at Ananda's was always really great. Needed a walk-in haircut in Asheville because I'm in town for a wedding after 2 straight weeks of color. Angie was my stylist, and she is fantastic! She just relocated to Asheville and is rebuilding her clientele list. If you have curls and want your hair (and stylist!) to have a bit of sass- she's your woman. Just got the BEST haircut at Ananda today -- and TRUST me, I do NOT give out rave haircut reviews easily. I have long, difficult-to-layer-without-making-it-look-thin blonde hair and it's a rare occasion when I don't walk out of a hair salon extremely disappointed. But Lauren was amazing!!  (And apparently she hasn't been there very long because she's still a "stylist" which means you get the cheapest rate of $45, so get in on that while you can!) She really listened to what I wanted, and the cut came out fantastic. Oh, AND she walked me through my first brow-tinting experience, which also turned out great. The salon atmosphere itself was also impressive --you're greeted with a fresh beverage and treated to a very relaxing scalp massage during your shampoo. Okay- there are pros and cons.CONS-I have no problem paying the big bucks for a hair cut. Haircuts are important and a great splurge. HOWEVER, it is really annoying when you book an appointment with someone who, on the website, states is a "designer" (aka $55), and then you arrive, get a hair cut, she hands you a card, that also says she is a "designer" and when you notice your bill has a scratched out $55 and a re-written $65 that doesn't sit right. I asked the receptionist, and she said "Ummm. hmm yeah Courtney just got a promotion to master stylist, so she's more". Isn't that common courtesy to let someone know before the cut? Also- don't charge extra until the website and business cards say the correct price level. I am a great tipper, and that makes me want to tip you less.Also- so much product (she used shampoo, conditioner, oil, leave in conditioner, sea salt spray, mousse, and a finishing spray). I had to take a shower because my girlfriend and I got headaches from the perfumes.OKAY, now that my rant is over-PROS- Amazing products ( when used in moderation), stylists that take their time & really listen (Courtney did amazing things with my hair- she listened and gave great suggestions and really worked miracles), great atmosphere. Great recommendations on products- I even bought one of the leave in treatments (though I did feel a bit of pressure to purchase something). I booked Ananda's for my bridal party after a recommendation from a friend, not living in the area. I tried to communicate with multiple other salons in the area and Ananda's was super helpful and responsive, even though I'd waited really late in the game to book. Anneliesse was super communicative and extremely helpful, sending me an email the first time we spoke on the phone so that I could communicate with her. The girls came all the way out to Brevard to do my hair and makeup and the hair of 4 of my bridesmaids. We all loved our hair and they were super chill- which helped keep us super chill :) I even got a well-wishes email on my honeymoon! Very thoughtful and sweet. I was in town for a friend's wedding  and needed an up-do. I had gone to another salon the night before and was treated very rudely so I chose to try another place, hoping I would have a different experience. Upon walking in a was greeted by the friendly front desk staff- they had coffee available while we waited which was only for a minute or two. I cannot express how much I loved my hair for my wedding. Katie is beyond amazing!! Not only did she take the time to email a picture of the design after my trial, she also calmed me the day of when the morning turned hectic. Her creativity, energy, personality, and talent are unmatched! At my wedding, I received dozens of compliments on my hair and I told everyone go to Katie Manselle at Ananda! She also dyed my hair the Thursday before our wedding and I'm still trying to figure out how I can make the 500 mile trip work to come back regularly. This place is without a doubt the BEST salon I have ever been to. I am one of those people who get very nervous when people cut my hair but not at Anandas. I have been getting my hair cut here for about 4 years and am never disappointed! I live in California now but every time I visit home I make sure I go.I see Tina and she is wonderful. I moved to Asheville last January, and (honestly) one of my big worries was finding a new stylist.  I've been a client of Naomi's for about a year now, and I couldn't be happier.  I just let her work her magic, and she makes me look good.  The atmosphere, while busy, is also relaxing.  No booming nightclub music here, as I've experienced at salons elsewhere, and no catfighting and rivalries between stylists (at least not that I'm aware).  While you wait for your stylist, you can have a cup of coffee or tea and peruse the magazines, or people-watch out the window onto Broadway.  The staff, especially Annaliese, is very friendly and pleasant, and she always makes sure to book me for my next appointment before I leave.  I also had a good experience with Laura, a new apprentice who shampooed me while Naomi was finishing with another client.  All in all, very professional, high-quality work in a pleasant environment.  I look forward to my monthly visits! They both were amazing to work with, and helped me (who's totally neurotic about hair and make up) feel confident and relaxed in their recommendations, their suggestions, and the commitment to working with them.
