I have been working out at this gym for more than a year now; the staff has always been friendly and helpful; I also have been working out with Rubens and he is really amazing and knows his stuff well; I have trained with many trainers before and Rubens is one of the best trainers that I have ever trained with; he is a good listener and also pushes me to overcome hurdles; he is also knowledgable and I made a lot of progresses working out with him. Iron Bodies is an awesome little gym with great equipment.I went to Iron Bodies yesterday for a quick workout and had a great time. The gym is definitely not the biggest around and is definitely focussed on lifting and lacks the amenities of the bigger gyms, but the quality of the equipment and the guys working there make up for it. Larry was definitely great to talk too and I'm sure he would be an excellent trainer. I only talked to Derek for a minute, but he also seemed like a great guy.Most of their equipment is either Hammer Strength or Ivanko. Even the dumbbell set that goes to 150lb is Ivanko. They had a great selection of equipment with everything that a guy would need to build strength and get into shape.The atmosphere of the gym is also awesome. I went in the morning and it definitely felt like a family atmosphere where everyone was familiar with everyone else. Personally, I'd way rather have that then the feel of a big gym filled with strangers.If you are looking for a great little gym that is filled full of top quality equipment and a great staff, Iron Bodies Gym is the gym for you. Years back when Iron Bodies was on Main & Alton body builders knew this gym was the no frills place to clock in and put in work. A sanctuary away from the big chain gym and the weird vibe 15yrs later, still haven't found a preacher curl setup as sweet. More...

I went here 3 years ago while visiting my sister and loved this gym. They were so hospitable and friendly to us, coming from out of town. They were fair to us as guests and barely charged us. You could tell it was more about the iron and wouldn't expect less from a Platz gym. The gym itself was small but perfect - it had everything you needed and the equipment itself was just awesome. Great weights assortment and range - clean and organized - "get down to business and lift" kind of place with an open feel for the size (~3k sq ft) benches are plush and has a good stretching area as well.

I've been working with Justin for a long time. Hands down this guy is the best at this. Everything from a meal prep, to a workout plan for you and your spouse, but most importantly getting you to understand what you're doing and why beyond the "losing weight and building muscle aspect" is an extremely meticulous/well thought out process made simple. He doesn't force you to do anything, but rather gets you to want to do better and be better. Hiring justin Cox was the best decision I ever made! He helped me lose 50lbs, and gain around 10lbs of muscle! Even when I was at my lowest, feeling like I couldn't go on, he gave the me the motivation I need to get where I'm at today! Great meal preps, great workouts and great motivation! met Justin through a friend of mine who was also a personal trainer here in San Diego. Justin was hosting a sports conditioning class at our local gym and my friend thought I might be interested in trying it out. I was hooked! Justin made the training sessions an enjoyable event that pushed me to my limits each and every time. His training modality and methods of strength training specifically targets the muscle groups I use while power lifting. Rather than just simply "lifting weights" my workouts would also include different types of endurance, static and dynamic strength drills, and stretching. This approach developed my strength and power drastically. I used to go to this gym until I had to move. Anyhow, they were great and I have nothing but good things to say about them. After being honorably discharged from the Marine Corps I wanted to do something to help people. And after seeing the horrors or war and how it sometime physically affected fellow servicemen, I decided to start helping them train for races. ie Tough Mudder, OCR.s, Spartan Races, Marathons, and my love for trying began.
