We stopped by here for lunch while visiting Williamsburg for the day. We sat at the bar. We didn't plan to come here but just came across it on Yelp and decided to try it. We really wanted to try their burger I saw on one of the Yelp photos. ..disappointed to find out they stopped serving it and it was only being served for lunch which ended literally 2 minutes before we got there (crying face). We ordered their poutine and their wings. We were pretty impressed with their wings....crispy but tender. Pickles were super delish. Crunchy and so sweet. They make their own pickles! Wonderful brunch stop. They make everything in-house, including syrups used in cocktails and daily pastry specials. I had a wonderful order of French toast with a side if the best thick-cut bacon I've ever had in my life. My companion had shrimp and grits. I'm not a fan of grits, but these were really good. Apparently we really lucked out showing up after a Sunday evening at Busch Gardens Christmastown because I've heard the wait without a reservation can be hours. The decor was rustic chic and would be a great date spot. We ordered the brewery's beer and it was so impressive we ordered some to take home. I ordered the burger and it rates up there with few of the best burgers I've eaten. The homemade ranch was especially delicious to dip my fries in. My husband ordered the shrimp and grits. It wasn't as good as those we've had in SC and the temperature of the meal was a little cool. Regardless, it was still very good. We were completely shocked when we received our food. The flavors were to die for! We were not expecting such depth of flavor. My husband had the pork belly and it was crispy on the outside and juicy inside - not fatty at all. I had the ricotta gnocchi with mushrooms and I ate as slow as possible to savor every bite. OMG. It was SO good. The service was excellent. Our server came to check on us multiple times. They have unique cocktails as well. I had one that mixed cider and brandy - very yummy. I am not a beer drinker so I cannot comment on their beers. My husband had a couple - a little bitter for my taste - but again I'm not a beer drinker. Another amazing meal and excellent service! Amber Ox continues to impress!! Last night we joined another couple for smash burgers and beer. We had a blast! Was in Williamsburg for Illumination Festival and stop by here for brunch since my friends liked it when they visited the prior year. Drinks:Bloody Mary with beer back. This is a great restaurant. Consistently great food cooked well. The extensive beers are changing all the time and are almost uniformly good. Even the ones that are not my style are well made. The service is always prompt and friendly. Our latest server, Hollee, was fantastic. They were having a special beer dinner that we didn't sign up for. Upscale in-pretentious dining experience with excellent food and service.Squash soup and biscuit board were out of this world, possibly the best biscuits I've ever had! Beef short rib was great I would say slightly mean on the Brussels side and possibly a bit fatty for my liking but tasted perfect. Fired chicken was fantastic, swapped the potato salad for cheddar grits which were so tasty! Only slight improvement would be the option to swap out a thigh on the fried chicken for another breast for an up charge.Service was excellent. My boyfriend and I are regular clients at Amber Ox! We have celebrated this past New Year during the block party, and we look forward to Field Day after Thanksgiving. We typically order the pork rinds, chicken wings, AO burgers and fries. The cocktails are perfectly handcrafted and never drowning in ice. The beer selections are also plentiful. This past summer, we have fallen in love with kool beans beer, which Amber Ox/Precarious partnered with Elephant Rogue Coffee to create a coffee beer. My boyfriend has even become a Draught Animal. The servers, runners and bartenders are especially welcoming and remember us each time we visit. I have first learned about Amber Ox while searching for local food and drinks on Yelp, and has become one of my favorite spots in Williamsburg! More...

We decided to come here after a day at Busch Gardens and we were glad we did. We were seated almost right away even though we didn't have a reservation. The bar area is separated from the small dining room by a barrier wall but it's really one big room. We started off with the wings to share and I got the negative ghost rider. The wings were very different from typical wings in a good way and had a smoky flavor. We didn't even need the sauce they brought with it which was also good. My entree was the Ricotta Gnocchi that was very bold in flavor and complimented the negative ghost rider well from its sweet and slightly bitter taste. Overall it was a good experience. More...

Part of the Distillery building, Amber Ox Public House has a lot to offer. A waiter started us off with some water and drink recommendations. Just shortly after, our waitress came over and was able to provide us with more information about the menu including ingredients and taste. She was very knowledgeable and gave good recommendations. I got the Snozzberry drink - sweet without being overly sweet. They also use farm to table ingredients and create a lot of their own syrups. You can also try some of the beers from the distillery next door or get a beer from their partnered distilleries. There are also non-beer and non-alcoholic options. Our appetizer was the chicken wings. Although they have a slightly Smokey flavor they taste good. They are served with a few pickle slices, also very tasty. My main course was the salmon. It was perfectly seasoned and prepared. It sits on a bed of farro and vegetables. They top it with a chicken broth. They have several dessert options for about $7 / each. We ended up not getting any dessert since we're chocolate dessert people and the only option for chocolate was pudding. I highly recommend this restaurant for a nice dinner out. More...

Hooked onto a Brewhaus this fun spot serves up fresh dishes. Knowledge staff led us to pick 4 half pours of delightful sours/porters. I ordered the delicious brussel sprouts w a lite yogurt walnut creme (enough 2 share) roasted squash soup and the huge gala apple salad my dinner-mate ordered the salmon (perfect prepare) presented on farro porridge w roasted vegetables -topped w fresh apple & fennel Craft cocktails finished our meal. We were at The Amber Ox on Saturday 10/12 and ordered the poutine which is always a go to for us. This time it had pesto which we didn’t even think to ask about. My other half is moderately allergic to tree nuts/almonds etc and noticed pretty much right away that he was having a reaction to it. Our server Murieum (I’m pretty sure I’m off with the spelling) was really concerned for him and very apologetic even though it was no way her fault or the restaurants.. she also happened to have a spare Benadryl in her pocket which completely saved the night! We were able to leave and continue with our night where normally we would have to go straight home and deal with the reaction. This restaurant itself is very cool in terms of decor and the atmosphere. Sat at the bar because it was a busy Saturday night without reservations. Service was great. They have quite a variety of beers on tap and feature the local beer from the brewery down the road- precarious beer project. The food is all "farm to table." I got scallops and they were delicious and cooked to perfection...however I left hungry. My boyfriend got the burger and says it was great- the fries were delicious.
