First off this place violates my basic rule for all ethnic restaurants.  You can almost always tell if they're going to do a good job based on whether or not they play music in the dining room of the proper ethnicity. Here I got classic rock.  Susie Q was playing when I came in.  Not a particularly auspicious start. And, quite frankly, the iced tea is garbage.Dining room service seemed to be in disarray.  I had to ask for silverware and then they brought me silverware but not a napkin. My tea came with lemon, contrary to my order. On the other hand the chicken tikka masala which I requested spicy, was pretty fantastic,  bringing to bear a sweet flavorful heat.  The entree comes with your choice of rice or naan, the portion size was generous which made it worthwhile to pay the $2 extra to have both starches.Dessert was a cold soggy cloying mess, which appears to be traditional for all Indian desserts. I don't hold this against them, I've merely come to the conclusion there are no traditional Indian desserts that I enjoy. This is a weak 4 stars for sure, basically they are serving a five-star entree in what I otherwise would have called a two or three star restaurant. But, this is a small local establishment and I want to give them the benefit of the doubt at least until I have a chance to schedule a second visit. We were on our way to Dallas and saw this place had good reviews on Yelp. I ordered their lentel soup and my husband order vegetable pakoras. Soup was fantastic (fresh tadka) and pakoras were so so.For main course I had Chettinad curry (shrimp) and my husband had house special curry. Both dishes were good, and spice level did not necessarily put my mouth on fire. They brought out complimentary chicken biryani for us. Overall good experience. More...

We found this cool little Indian restaurant this afternoon, we were HAPPY we did! We ordered from their menu (there was no buffet- which we were happy about. ..the food is usually much better ordering from the menu). The chicken tika masala was very yummy and the garlic naan was so good too! The goat Biryani and lamb Biryani were both delicious too. Our waitress was wonderful. We look forward to coming back again soon to try other dishes. They have a huge menu to select from! More...

One of the better places to try Indo-Chinese food in Houston. It's usually not that crowded and the service is great as well. I'll go there again! Order the basil garlic naan - it's the right level of crispy. Their house special curry would be a 4/5. A little conservative on the spice level. More...

Good food, good service, nice ambiance, but it can be a bit confusing. This is one of my favorite places to get Indian food in Houston, and I only tried it a couple of months ago. When I went and all of the other times that I've gone, I've gotten great service and great food, my only problem is that I've shown up a couple of times during what are supposed to be business hours and have found it closed! It's only happened about 2 or 3 times though so it's not a major inconvenience. Would definitely recommend this place. More...

We have been to this Indian restaurant thrice and it's always been on a Sunday and mainly for the buffet. I'm personally quite picky about eating Indian food outside India since I'm quite sensitive to the spice level. The buffet has a reasonable spread of items. The meats are mainly chicken and mutton (goat meat) curries and chicken kababs, they don't serve beef. The curries are flavorful and not too spicy. I personally stick to the goat curry. The chicken biryani is pretty good and worth a try, the chicken however may not be boneless. The vegetarian dishes are the usual spread of options. The cost of the buffet is 10.99$ and there's a 10% discount if you pay by cash. We have earlier tried the dosas on the menu and felt we've tasted better so I would recommend sticking to the regional items on the menu that they are good if you not there for the buffet. The owners are mostly always there and are pretty accommodating.Recently tried the Chicken Tikka Kabob and the Malai Kabob, both very flavorful and non spicy. For people looking for a non spicy dry meat dish, would recommend both these kabobs to be eaten with a naan bread. More...

Perlier fan here and I've been past this place like a thousand and one times while going to my favorite Game Preserve across the street. Why did you guys not tell me about this place earlier? One day I took my mother to the buffet here and was really surprised at the choices as well as the softness of the chicken, I haven't had chicken like this since leaving canes and they fry their stuff. I know you are going to say comparing apples to oranges but just trying to get you on the tender chicken note, work with me on this. The service my first time was kind of standoffish, did not really feel comfortable with that younger lady but I can tell you pretty much all my second visit when I took my kids was completely different. The older lady and even the working gentleman walking around our table I would assume are the owners really allowed us to enjoy the experience by being open, suggestive and asking how everybody liked their individual orders since there is not a dinner buffet slot here. The surprise of our taste buds with my mother got the curry fish and these people need to be arrested for putting crack in their curry sauce, mother does not compliment too much or eat that much but she did and hundred and eighty degree turn around on this.   The non which there are three different types would come to the table fresh of course since you are ordering Ala-cart but totally worth it, especially with yelp's 10% discount, use it you will save a lot. The only thing I do not understand about this place which is minor is they do not offer an unsweetened tea, you have to drink it sweet or get a soda or something.  Isn't it supposed to be other way around? Like I said minor, we just had the water. One thing I forgot to mention about the buffet is it is very reasonably priced I mean I think it was like $11, who charges only $11 for a buffet these days? Overall, go for the food and the service, not the decor/ambience!We used to visit this restaurant when it was under previous ownerships. With new ownership in place, we decided to visit with close friends for dinner a couple of days ago. Restaurant is located in a strip mall next to HEB, off Sawdust. Ambience is nothing to get excited about...bare bones but clean. Owners should work on getting the musty smell taken care of, however. A full service bar is present on location and while wine and beer selection is limited, they do offer price specials, prices for drinks are very reasonable, overall.Menu is extensive and offers a combo of North and South Indian and Indo-Chinese, with focus on the Andhra/Telangana styles of cooking (states in SW India, known for their fiery and flavorful cuisine). The highlight of the place is of course Narmada and her crew. Narmada is very welcoming and eager to please and takes care of customers well. Kudos. We ordered a mix of grilled appetizers followed by Mysore Masala Dosa, Goat and Chicken Biryanis (buy 2, get 1 free), Andhra style curries - lamb, chicken, shrimp. Biryanis, while tasty, appeared to have a common rice base with different meats cooked and added to them based on the order, as opposed to the traditional style of cooking the meats and spices together with the rice. Curries were tasty, the classic Gongura styled ones being the best. Dosa was crisp and met expectations overall, accompanying chutnies, which define the meal, were generally tasty.Overall, good visit with close friends, excellent service; Narmada even threw in complimentary desserts! Apparently they have a weekend buffet for $ 10.99, very reasonably priced, with several of the same dishes we saw on the dinner menu. Buffet selection looked vast. Not the traditional Indian buffet offering which generally is unimaginative and boring/tasteless. Try the buffet, we of course went for the dinner menu as the buffet was for lunch alone. We plan to return. More...

Their selections change regularly. You will find the always popular Butter Chicken and at least one Curry dish but they mix it up with lesser known dishes like the Coconut Kesari which it a sweet Coconut flavored "Cream of Wheat" that is out of this world. Try their Tomatoe Chutney with Naan bread too. The service is always warm and friendly. I mentioned how much I loved the Kesari to our watress and she smiled big and she told me she prepared it that morning. I gave my compliments to the chef. To us, the buffet has plenty of options because we have only tried maybe 10 Indian restaurants in our lifetime. So each time we go, the friendly staff assists us in making selections and trying new dishes. Each time I go I want to try just a little of each dish so I have had a large selection of their offerings. Their food is GREAT! Some is pretty spicy but others are mild. The only dish I didn't enjoy was the goat curry (don't remember the exact name) but it has bones and I was not expecting bones. For the most part, the buffet main dishes stay the same with just a few slight variations. If you go before noon, the place is almost empty but the one time we went after 12:30 the place was packed.
