Not shy on the spices here! As far as Indian food that we've tried in Arizona, this is the most authentic southern India food by a long shot. We ate here on Sunday shortly after 12pm, and everything was very fresh, and each dish had a distinct flavor and texture. They have a good selection of both vegetarian and meat dishes, as well as the sweeter things. Very happy we decided to try here. The outside of the restaurant is just a standard strip mall, but many treasures are found within. Really great lunch buffet!this is my go to indian place (paneer chettinad is so good) for dinner if I dont want to cook. Be prepared to wait awhile (30 ish minutes) for your food to arrive if you go for dinner, even if there is no one there. Its worth the wait but just know that before you go. More...

This is just a review of the experience of the lunch buffet, which I went to yesterday. I actually waited a day to write a review b/c (a) I'm lazy but also (b) a couple negative reviews say they got food poisoning here and I wanted to see if I would be similarly affected; I was not. Not to say those other ppl weren't afflicted by food poisoning, but just that, apparently, it is not a universal experience, and judging from most reviews, not even an especially common one. This buffet is pretty good! It's actually the highest spice level I've had at a largely-Northern style buffet (I think the real competitors for heat intensity are Udupi and Ruchi, both specifically South Indian), although this buffet also had some specifically more Southern foods, like gobi manchurian. The veg options included one kind of rice, gobi manchurian, onion pakora, a yellow dal, saag paneer, a potato fry, and I think maybe one other thing I'm forgetting, because I did not eat it. It was all good! A small basket of naan is brought to the table, which was fine but not quite as good as a few other places (the runaway naan champion of my experience of Indian buffets around here is Nandini, whose garlic naan was Spectacularly delicious). Is this THE most upscale Indian restaurant in the world? No, but the food is good, the service is serviceable, the bathrooms are clean, the dining area is a nice open space, and the price is reasonable. Love the food at Amaravati, I have been there for dinner and a lunch buffet and have had their catered food at a party and the food quality and taste are excellent. Haven't tried their Dosa Night yet but have heard good things about it, will try it soon. If I could give one small piece of constructive feedback, it would be to bring out breads faster, both the times I have been to Amaravati, my family and I had to wait a long time for Naans to arrive. This restaurant does a lot of things like buffets, catering, a-la carte. We got catered from this place for our baby shower party and I can't rave less about this place. From the time of ordering to coordinating with us and finally delivering the food, everything was professional. We ordered a variety of food like gobi manchurian, Mirapakai chicken, goat curry, paneer, veg and chicken biryani, gulab Jamoon. Everything was top notch. The place looks clean. The food had a good taste. I don't know if it was fresh or maybe we got here when lunch time was about to be over. What surprised me is that I wanted a menu to order, but the waitress mentioned that would ask the chef if he would be up to cooking . I love indian buffets and I have a few particular items on them. First of all I want one that has riata, that yogurt base sauce with cucumbers that cools your mouth off when eating spicy food. This place hast. Which brings me to the second requirement, I want spicy choices on the buffet this place offers spicy and more mild dishes. The tomato chutney is hot if you need a little extra kick.  The other thing I look for is authenticity. The place definitely has that since on a Saturday lunch the dining room was about half full and I was the only white guy. I figure that other will choose a spot that they think is good.The service is almost too good. The are many staff ready to whisk away any finished plate. This place is awesome! I've been to many Indian places in the valley, but this one is by far the best lunch buffet! A great variety of different dishes that everyone will like! There is no reason why this place should earn less than 5 stars. Ordered - Vegetable Manchurian : ordered medium spice level, yet it was lil over than medium. Obviously you should expect this at an Indian restaurant. Tasted delicious and quantity is great.Paneer Biryani : huge quantity and go with an empty stomach to binge on this. Their Dosas and Biryanis are too good that I keep ordering from the same restaurant multiple times a week. I never had a bad experience so far and they maintain the quality as it was the first time.
