AM Moving Company

**Does not know where your stuff is being stored**We hired AM Moving Company to move us from Dallas to Houston, as well as store our belongings until we found a house in the interim. We paid $2500 in total for both moves and storage. We moved out of our house in Dallas on December 5th, 2021. We were told our belongings were in lockers #499 and #564. On February 26th, 2022, one-fourth of our belongings were delivered to Houston. We were told these were the belongings in locker #499, but locker #564 was empty. When asked where our stuff was, AM Moving Company had no idea. We searched through all of the lockers the moving company had rented out in the facility to no avail. We were missing items totaling $35,000 - both material items and invaluable ones (my wedding dress, items belonging to my late grandmother, etc.) We had to beg the storage facility to look through the "red lock" lockers - ones that had not been paid for 3 months and would be put up for auction. On Tuesday, February 28th, the remainder of our belongings were found in a "red lock" locker. Our belongings were moved to Houston on March 2nd.When asked about a potential refund, David (owner) told us that it "was an honest mistake," and asked why he "should lose $2500 when we got all of our stuff back?" Not taking into account that we paid AM Moving Company to safely store our belongings and they had no idea where they were being stored. David also told us there was "no way" our stuff was worth $35,000, even though my husband and I are recently married and have the receipts from the registry. I also had to miss work to go to Dallas to sort this all out. If our move had been delayed even another few days (which was probable given it's a new construction), our items would have been put up for auction. More...

AM Moving was hired by a couple that purchased my business' Gym Equipment. Was suppose to take AM Moving 1 day. 3 days later they finished. AM totally underestimated the number of trucks and employees they would need to do the job. They were over an Hour late starting, each day. And... they STOLE My NEW Hand Cart!! Updating my review because I had another fantastic experience with AM Moving. I had a 1pm-4pm window for the movers to show up, and I got a call around noon. My team of movers had finished the earlier job and wanted to know if they could come rightaway (~12:30pm arrival). I asked if they could come at 1pm, since that is the earliest that I was expecting them, and they honored my request and showed up exactly at 1pm. The movers who helped me today are Rafael, Carson, and Kaleb, and they were amazing. I moved from a 1st floor to a 2nd floor with no elevator. The team was super fast, and they took really good care of my belongings. It was also a really hot day (high of 99 degrees) and there was not one complaint from anyone about the job.Prior to Move Day, I worked with Max on my quote and he made the process of booking the services super easy.I also appreciated the text reminders 5 days before the move and the day before. I am an anxious person and I feared that there would be a no show and I would be stuck with no movers (pretty much up until the movers actually arrived), so I appreciated the reminders, even if they were probably auto-generated. I am so disappointed with this company. They moved me on April 1, 2022 and I am still waiting for the owner(Kent) to reimburse me for most of my  furniture being damaged. I sent pictures and a list of damaged items at the old house I was moving from AND damages at my new house. The movers were so bad they caused me to lose my deposit from the house I was renting. When the removed my refrigerator from my old house, they didn't cap the water line and caused a flood. The flooring had to be replaced in one of the rooms. Also, I caught one of the movers stealing one of my liquor bottles. He apologized, but it was so embarrassing for both of us. The move cost nearly $1,900 and most of my furniture is ruined!! The owner Kent said he would credit my credit card for the damages but is been over 2months now and he won't call me back!!  Here are the damages I found so far:Mckinney Property:1. Water line from moving refrigerator was not capped/shutoff. Caused a flood in the garage and front bedroom adjacent to kitchen wall. 2. Broken blinds in living roomLittle Elm Property:1. Gray Credenza - leg broken and multiple chips on  face2. Son's bed missing pieces(not put together properly) 3. Refrigerator drawer broken and dings on the outside of the door4. Kings size bed frame dirty (they must not have covered it like i asked). The sides are dirty like they slid the bed on the truck. My family needed help loading our uhaul for a cross country move. We got bids from several companies, and AM's offer felt like it would provide the best value and professionalism. That ended up not being the case.When booking, I specifically had asked if the movers would wrap our furniture in the dozens of furniture pads I bought, as well as everything being secured with twine or other methods using the tie downs in the back of our uhaul. I had an injury that prevented me from closely monitoring the work done loading, and I really wish  that had not been the case.We had three very young men show up with their own uhaul on moving day. Odd that they didn't show up in an "AM" truck, but whatever. The team was very fast, too fast in fact. They didn't use the furniture pads, and nothing was tied down in the back of the uhaul. While the pads not being used was immediately apparent, the tie downs were not. We arrived at our new home several states over and several items were severely damaged from not being secured. The movers that unloaded at our destination were shocked by the bad load job and agreed that furniture pads and twine would've kept everything safe.Now I'm two months in chasing around my own tail. I've left countless voicemails, sent emails, and provided photos of the damage. I have not made any progress in completing a claim with this company, and I regret my decision to hire them. They have great reviews, insurance, and seemed to be responsive when scheduling. I think they'd do a good job but be weary if you're on a strict schedule.  I think it's unacceptable to a1. Attempt to reschedule with less than 24 hr notice. 2. Accept a move given the dimensions to then decline 2 hours before the scheduled time. Positives 1. Price was fair2. They are insured3. Communication via email and phone was OK for scheduling I was really hopeful to use this company to move items from a window warehouse to my house. This was a very important move- items were large glass doors and pretty pricey. This company was aware of the dimensions and accepted the move for Saturday 1-3pm on Wednesday that week. They were very responsive and felt promising that they would do a great job- we confirmed our move on Wednesday and again on Friday at 11am. However, later in the afternoon on Friday around 2:30pm they called stating they needed to reschedule for Monday giving us less than 24 hours notice. They said they'd callback Friday evening to see if they could still do our move Saturday afternoon but they never called.  We assumed it was just rescheduled since they never called back, however, Kent did go to the warehouse to view the doors Saturday at 11am only two hours before our scheduled window for the move to then state that they would not fit in the truck. Everything was great! The movers were kind and helpful and got the job done quickly and efficiently despite having to be scanned in and out of doors and elevators every time we needed to use them. No complaints from them and they were nice enough to help me take my curtain rod down since I could not it! The only comment I have for the company is maybe call the customer to confirm the day before or morning of for afternoon moves. Although I did call to confirm the morning of to get peace of mind that they were coming and their policy is that the crew calls when they are heading your way. We hired AM Movers to help us finish packing and moving the remaining items in our 3 bedroom home.  We hadn't moved in 28 years and were not familiar with movers other than those used by our daughters in college (not a good experience).  However, from the initial call to David Avery everything went smooth as possible.  They were able to meet our last minute schedule, explained the process and the entire scope of services to help us move out on time.The team was running a bit late from an earlier moving job but kept us updated on their projected arrival.  Joe, Felix and Danielson arrived cheerful, friendly and ready to assist in all ways.  Their can-do spirit gave us confidence and eased our worries.  Joe went through the house assessing the situations in each room, asking me pertinent questions and explaining the moving plan to his team and our family.  They worked so efficiently and professionally I would not hesitate to use them again.  In the process of moving us, they also made two unplanned stops to drop off a sofa one block over and a china cabinet at our daughter's two miles away.  Nothing slowed them down and they did not charge us any extra outside the time it took to keep the move going.They were courteous, professional, compassionate and all around fantastic!Joe even went to the extent to tighten screws that were loose on some of our pieces of furniture.  They had us ready to sleep in our beds that night.  Amazing!Mary and Mike A More...

We hired AM Moving Company for our cross country move from Dallas to California. We had a two bedroom apartment and they took care of all the packing and dismantling of the furniture while carefully wrapping it for the long drive. Joe and Ken contacted us the day before the truck arrived in California with an arrival time and they arrived about 20 minutes ahead of schedule. Since it was cross country-- they hired out a few additional people to help bring in the furniture in California. Although there was a miscommunication with the initial crew-- Joe resolved the issues and had a new crew within a couple hours. AM Moving took care of our office move a few weeks ago and did an excellent job. Joe, Sean, and Jose were incredibly hard working and fast.  We had a deadline set by the building and they worked hard to get it done in time, but unfortunately we had delays that were out of our control. So they came back the next morning at 6:30 am to finish by the brine of the building opening. WORST COMPANY EVER!!!  If I could give zero stars I would!I hired this company because of all the positive reviews, but I should have scrolled further and paid closer attention to the negative ones as there seem to be some patterns with their workers.  I scheduled my move with Kent and gave him a rundown of where I was moving from and moving to, requesting 4 movers.  The day of my move, 3 guys showed up, one of whom did not intend to do much work at all, thus pushing the bulk of the load on the other 2 movers.  After banging up my furniture and punching a large hole through my wall, they finally were able to finish moving my furniture out 2 1/2 hours later.  Mind you, everything was prepacked and ready to go beforehand, minus wrapping a few furniture items.  Once the team arrived at my new home, the same worker who didn't want to work before definitely wasn't going to start now.  Once his fellow team members called him out, things went quickly south from there.  This particular individual decided to act like a child and throw a tantrum in my new neighborhood, screaming and cussing at the top of his lungs, while walking up and down the street like a crazy person for about 15 - 20 minutes.  I called the office and spoke to Kent who assured me the situation would be handled.  After the tantrum was over, the same employee now wanted to finish the job and be done, so he decides to now start helping off loading my furniture into the house.  In doing so, many damages were caused due to his complete recklessness including scuffed walls, damages to my hardwood floors, scratched chest of drawers, broken bookshelf, broken 6ft mirror, and broken desk lamp.  When I called back to report this to Kent, he informed me that he would credit my acct 1 measly hour for the time it took for the tantrum to subside and that we would settle the damages once the job was complete. Here we are 3 months later and I have called the office multiple times, have also spoken with Joe who claimed to be another manager within the company, have followed up with countless voicemails and emails, all with zero replies.Now reviewing all these comments, I have noted that David A., the supposed Business Owner has been replying to positive reviews, but I don't see many if any, responses to the negative ones.  This goes to show you, the company isn't concerned with operating with integrity or ensuring they rectify any real issues.  My 1-hour credit does not compensate for the number of damages caused, nor the embarrassment of having such a tirade performed outside my new home.  David A, if you choose to respond, you have my name, contact number, and address.  Do not comment on here with a canned response instructing me to contact you, as that has proven to not be effective.  Read your emails and listen to your phone messages, or ask your "managers" Kent and Joe, and you can figure it out. I was better off having my cousins move my furniture for me. My start time was set for 9 am - 10 am so that I could be done with my move early. I received a call at 9:50 am stating they would be arriving late due to issues they were having with their trucks. I was told the movers would be at my apartment by 12 pm to start the move and apologized for the delay. They didn't show up until 2 pm. This completely inconvenienced me and I had to change around my entire schedule. Once they arrived, they moved pretty quickly. I asked for my 65" television be placed in the back of my friends car to prevent any damages with it being in the back of the truck. They insisted that my television would be fine and encouraged me to place it in the back of the moving truck. Well, unfortunately for me after my move was complete I noticed my television was broken, as well as my dresser. I witnessed some of my items being carelessly moved by one particular mover. He came down the steps with my couch extremely rough and then stated "My bad" once he noticed I witnessed it. Also, hitting my large mirror against the door frame of my apartment and then stating "oops". I was also told, "We're all done" at the end of the move, when I had to remind them they left items sitting outside in the parking garage that still needed to me brought in (my mirror and a couple storage containers). My original move cost was roughly $500 and ended up paying about $150. They decided to take off $350 for my move but I still had to pay $550 for a brand new tv and will still have to pay more for a new dresser. Everyone was professional, even when we had a few set backs. They communicated clearly suggestions to get through the complications we had and it work out great. Hi, We finished our move from Dallas to San Francisco today with AM moving company for our 2bed apartment. We were a little worried since we had a lot of fragile items including our 75 and 55 inch TV, but their services were exceptional from beginning till the end in less than a week (packing, loading, unloading and assembly). The staff was highly respectful and acted on every single request of ours with regards to how things should be packed or loaded. AM Moving is an excellent moving company!  They are very professional and helped guide me through a move for the first time in 28 years.  We moved from Dallas to Colorado and had an incredibly smooth and seamless operation.  The crew was extremely careful with wrapping furntiture and loading the truck.  We had a very large art collection that was immaculately wrapped & protected.  I was very impressed with their employees and their detail to the move, their congeniality and professionalism.  I had interviewed several moving companies and found not only a good value on their pricing, but also had a very comfortable feeling about this company from the first conversation.  I absolutely made the right choice. They arrived on time and were polite.  They were pleasant the entire time.Unfortunately, they were also inexperienced and very tired by the end of the move.  It was a one day move from Dallas to Houston.  They ignored labels of fragile/this side up on boxes resulting in some breakage and leakage of fluids.  They were also tired and left almost every box in my front hallway, meaning that I had to move every box to the appropriate room after they left.  They also told me I did not have an ice maker/water connection, which my son then connected the next day. I also blame their management which gave them a second pickup after leaving my house......they arrived in Dallas at 9am and left at 2 pm.  Packing me took longer than they expected because they weren't sure how to get the handles off of my refrigerator.  They used my tools, and then left them out because they said they only moved boxes....so I gathered the tools that they had taken out of my tool box and put them in my car after they had left.It was a four hour drive, but they did not arrive at my house in Houston until 9pm.  They were done at midnight and then told me they were driving back to Dallas that night. Sean, Felix and Don helped my gf and I move from Dallas to Austin. They showed up on time and worked efficiently to get everything on the truck which had plenty of space. I saw other companies here on Yelp and when I checked into them some of them did not have insurance...even though they said they offered it! Check with the DMV before you hire a mover! I had a great experience with AM moving company. I was a little nervous when I didn't speak with anyone directly after my first call to arrange the move ~3wks prior, but they sent regular automated text messages prior to the move. My moving crew was led by Shawn and included Denzel, Alec, and Jairo. They were on time, efficient and very careful with all of my belongings. I moved back in May of this year and the move went well, the guys were easy to work with and moved efficiently. However, there were only 2 movers on that day. And I didn't realize until recently that I was charged for 3 movers. I called AM Moving and talked to their manager Joe, told him what happened and he easily and quickly gave me a refund for the overcharge. This is the second time I've used them and would definitely do it again. AM movers were able to accommodate our last minute and chaotic move with some unexpected challenges and changes. Hired three movers with a 26-foot truck to move a one bedroom w/small office apartment. Apparently only one of the three that showed up was a real mover; the other two were probably picked up at 7-11. About 3/4ths of the way thru the loading, they announced the truck was full! The "real" mover couldn't be in two places, and he had to supervise the move out rather than the loading, so the load was horrendously misplanned and inefficient. Several pieces is furniture were damaged during the move, and I was left to move the rest of my apartment myself over the next two days. I am elderly with lower back sciatica, so in the end, I had to leave several things in the old apartment, which I miss terribly, but I ran out of time. Please, PLEASE do not hire these guys!! They were pretty good. The price is hard to beat and they were very fast. My dresser ended up with some dings and scratches and they broke one of the legs on my standing lamp. They used superglue to repair it. I was only moving half a mile away, so this was pretty disappointing. If you're looking for a quick, affordable local move, I'd consider them. But I don't think I would use them for a longer, more involved move. More...
