Alyssa House Bed and Breakfast

This is my third time staying at Alyssa B&B. This time, I brought three girlfriends with me for a girl's weekend. We couldn't have been more pleased. Kathy is a wonderful host and she makes her home so welcoming and inviting. The breakfasts are amazing. Located on Randolph Street in the main residential drive of Cape Charles was this wonderful jewel of a place to stay to have a romantic weekend with my love. The Innkeeper Kathy was so very gracious to create such an experience through her lifetime travels as a nurse. Our room among the other different rooms was called the Asian Room. The decor was absolutely beautiful, furnished with articles of things Kathy obtained through her travels. We were very comfortable with nice size bathroom (the size of 2 1/2 bathrooms with all the amenities). Kathy's background had a nice porch to sit on to have a drink or tea, a hot tub, and built-in pool which we sat at one night and watched the stars. In the morning, Kathy made a wonderful assorted breakfast which were absolutely delicious, and then we would sit on her front porch to relax on the swinging rocker or other chairs. It was so very comfortable. We highly recommend you take a little time to chat with Kathy. Her life experiences are very interesting. We recently spent a relaxing although hot weekend at Alyssa and were made very welcome by Kathy. She has given much love and time into making this an interesting place to stay with lots of beautiful art and objects that she has collected from around the world. There are several areas to sit, relax and chat with other guests over coffee or a glass of wine. We stayed in Europe room which was charming and quiet. My husband and I were visiting Cape Charles for the first time. So glad that we picked Alyssa House. It is our favorite B & B that we have stayed at, so far. I spent the weekend here with my boyfriend in June for a weekend away and we had a blast. Once you arrive you really don't need to use your car again as this is only 2 blocks away from the downtown area with tons of restaurant, candy stores, an art gallery, shopping, a cafe, and the ice cream and snow shack shops. You can walk anywhere and be at the beach in just under 10 minutes from here and the owner is very accommodating and friendly. She makes breakfast every morning and is mindful of allergies or dietary restrictions and gave us plenty of options and suggestions for food or things to do nearby. Very friendly. We immediately felt like home! The backyard has a nice hotter and small swimming pool with a well-kept yard and water and tea available. We loved it and will come back soon for sure! More...

This large, lovely B&B suited us perfectly. Rooms are spacious, comfortable, and beautifully decorated with international artifacts collected and displayed by the owner. Bedding is comfortable and luxurious. We really enjoyed the refreshing outdoor pool for unwinding on hot afternoons. Also quite relaxing are the porches where you can sit under fans to have coffee, while enjoying the lovely landscaping and quietness. Breakfast was indeed hot, fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. Kathy, the owner, is quite hospitable, and informative about Cape Charles and the eastern shore of Virginia. Just had a great weekend at Alyssa House this past weekend for a quick getaway from the hustle and bustle of Virginia Beach. Alyssa House has been beautifully redone - with a spacious downstairs kitchen, dining room where breakfast is served, guest bathroom, sitting area with a fireplace, and tv room with Hulu and Netflix access you can use.  These are all common areas downstairs for all guests to enjoy.  There is a large wrap-around front porch with seating and a swing as well. In back, a large and well-kept backyard with a pool and hot tub and another covered porch area with seating to enjoy coffee or tea in the morning.  Upstairs there are four rooms on the second floor for guests.  I stayed in the Africa Room - with a queen bed - for two nights.  It is nicely decorated with comfy pillows, a clock with USB charger by the bed,  plenty of towels, water by the bed, robes, etc.  You name it, there were all the little amenities. The owner, Cathy, was very friendly and made suggestions of things to see and places to try and had umbrellas available due to the rainy weekend weather.  She has traveled all over the world and the decor of the rooms in the inn and themes reflect the various places she's lived and worked before retiring and opening this B&B. Breakfast was served promptly at 9am in the dining room area and we had blueberry waffles with chicken sausage and coffee the first morning and a fluffy egg and cheese and potato dish the second day with fresh fruit and tea and coffee and juice.  Cathy kept the coffee and juice flowing and was a very good hostess.  Cape Charles is a charming little town off the Eastern Shore, full of friendly and welcoming locals and has just enough small-town charm to make you want to stay forever.  Not a lot of traffic, walkable, and tons of little shops and stores to see.  This Inn embodies all of that and is so relaxing and welcoming that I felt at ease and at home all at once.Gravel parking lot attached and Wifi throughout the inn.  This was a great weekend.  I wouldn't hesitate to stay at this lovely B&B again. The home is spectacularly restored and beautifully appointed with the owner Kathy’s collection of art and artifacts from her world travels. Stayed there this weekend. O complaints. Kathy is a gracious host who was happy to interact with us and make us feel welcomed. Would go back when weather warmer as pool and hot tub would be open.
