Alpine Steakhouse and Deli

We loved it. Starting with the home baked rye bread, followed with the Gorgonzola salad, and then steak and TurDucKen. We had a great waitress who was friendly and very helpful. A great time!

We made it a point to visit the local DDD on our latest travels and Alpine Steakhouse did not disappoint. We started with the crab cake appetizer which was the best I've ever had. Full of crab, no filler, and fried to perfection.My husband had the bratwurst with sauerkraut which he would rate at a 2 on a scale of 1-5. It was too bland for his taste, no bite, no crunch. His fries were crispy as he likes them. On our next visit, he would like to try the knockwurst.I had the Cuban sandwich which was good. I ended up taking the bread off since it was filling me too quick. I also had the cucumber salad which was bland for my taste but good overall. I’m happy to say that we finally got to Alpine Steakhouse on The Trail in Sarasota and it was a super pleasant surprise. It is a meat market and restaurant. Open for lunch and dinner. Reasonably priced, nothing over $30.00. A very cool, clean and casual atmosphere. Our server was sweet, knowledgeable and on point with timing. All aged prime midwestern Beef. We also just happened to go to the Sarasota Farmers Market Saturday morning and had breakfast at their stand. Steak and egg sandwich and breakfast burrito was awesome. It is so unfortunate to hear this place has had bad reviews because I NEVER give any restaurant 5 stars, but I absolutely had to. I always rate on 5 items, none of which have to do with drunk owners screaming at waitstaff AT ANOTHER RESTAURANT... If that is your experience, it had nothing to do with the Alpine Steakhouse and I have reported all of those reviews to have them removed.Anyway, that shouldn't deter from the reasons you go to a restaurant, which are:FOOD - 5. I believe if you stick with what they are known for, you will not go wrong. I've had NY Strips since I was 8 years old (I'm 56), in fine establishments throughout the US and have to say this was the best I've ever had. It literally melted in my mouth like a filet mignon. (I was in food & beverage at 5 star resorts, and a Catering Director, so I've eaten a lot of steak!) SERVICE - 5. Attentive, not intrusive, fun & friendly waitstaff. The deli guy was also friendly and helpful. COST - 5. Comparable pricing for steakhouses in the Sarasota area. Basic beer and drink prices + dessert prices were surprisingly low.CLEANLINESS - 5. Even the insides of the vents above us were clean! I look at floors, window sills, seats, walls, utensils, dust on bottles of wine...I couldn't find one thing to complain about.AMBIANCE - 5. The food here is absolutely deserving of 5 stars, as was the service. Only slight issue was that we looked at the menu online vefore going, and the wife got her heart set on a sandwich that is no on the actual menu. We got over that pretty quickly though.My daught got the Philly steak sandwich, and after her first bite she quickly said it was the best steak sandwich she had since we visited Philly.My wife got a half pound sirloin burger and it was so good that she insisted on eating every bite despite proclaiming how stuffed she was around 3/4 of the way through it.Myself, I had the turducken. It is every bit as good as it was proclaimed to be on Food Network. This was truly worthy of any Thanksgiving table. Perfectly cooked birds surrounded by potatoes stuffing and gravy with that delicious homemade feel. If yo are in the area its a must, and if you're a food tourist it is worth the trip. More...

A local gem for generations: A wonderful butcher shop to get prime meats among other items, and a great place to get a casual steak or have them cook up your fresh catch! many people don't realize you can do this but if you have a fresh catch you can call ahead and make a reservation for a hook and cook and they do an awesome job blackening it or frying it for a very reasonable price! Our first visit. The atmosphere is casual/cordial, even diner-like. Our server was very polite, attentive and informative, regarding specials and brought drinks and bread [rye]. Dinners include the choice of one. All of the beef is graded prime, aged at least 14 days; so, the pricing is higher than those restaurants only offering choice beef. I ordered the Delmonico [ribeye] medium well and my wife ordered the the filet well done. My steak was perfectly cooked, but my wife's filet was a bit undercooked, and was sent back to be finished. That was done quickly with apologies from our server. The filet was done perfectly and remained very juicy, not at all dry and tough. We both chose the twice-baked potato, which has an up charge. They were quite good. We finished our anniversary meal with the homemade peach cobbler, which was very tasty. We would recommend the Alpine for an excellent steak.
