I'm am eternally grateful that my husband, Mark, and I chose Alison & Adm to photograph our engagement photos and wedding photos. They are so incredibly talented and are the best duo (each capturing different angles (literally (as Adm is taller than 6 ft and Alison is a petite sweetheart) and style-wise).At the onset of our engagement photoshoot, Mark and I felt so awkward, but Alison and Adm were so down to earth and funny that they loosened us up and made us feel so comfortable. We had a great time, and they captured the most BEAUTIFUL photos!  Then on our wedding day, they were so helpful, fun and cheerful and were capturing all of the special moments. Alison and Adm shot my daughter's wedding in San Francisco and not only were the photographs BETTER than we hoped for, both the portraits and the candid shots, but both of them were a total pleasure to work with from start to finish. Alison and Adm are former professional journalism photographers and it shows. My fiance and I were looking for wedding photos that "capture the moment" instead of leaning heavily on portraits. Alison Yin and her husband Adm are an incredible team that will make your wedding more fun, more beautiful, and most of all, more memorable than you can imagine! Every interaction with Alison was professional and relaxed. She is super smart and easy to work with -- which honestly goes so far when planning a wedding. No need for any added stress. Beyond that, Alison and Adm are both great shooters, who use their photojournalism background to slyly get great photos without interrupting the natural flow of your big day. We couldn't be more happy with the pictures - they are beautiful and capture the energy of the day. They don't feel staged or contrived at all (because Alison and Adm really capture the moment, not manufacture poses!) 5 stars...P.S. As a side note ... they are super fun to hang out with. AMAZING! That is is the best word to describe my experience with Alison Yin Photography. They completely went above and beyond for us. Documenting the day was one of our top priorities. When we decided to go with Alison Yin Photography I knew we made the right choice from our first conversation with them. Alison and Adm are major photography talents. Their background with documentary style photography and their artistic aesthetic produce stunning and unique photos. Alison captures 'little moments' in her photos that are so special and she manages to capture those moments being almost invisible. She is a photo ninja! Alison and Adm not only were professional and took amazing photos, but they offered help and suggestions with other areas of the wedding. They are very familiar with the whole wedding process and their suggestions were extremely useful. Another thing I loved about Alison was her approach to taking group photos and setting up a photo. Everything is done in a very timely and concise manner. Our guests weren't waiting around forever for the bridal party to be introduced because Alison's process got all of our portraits done in less than thirty minutes. I was very impressed. We got a preview of our wedding the very next day which was a lovely little surprise. We also got the rest of our wedding photos very quickly after our wedding. Not only did Alison and Adm deliver, but they are very amicable, funny, and knowledgeable. These are the type of photographers you want around on your wedding day! Alison Yin Photography was amazing to work with! They were recommended to us through a friend at work. All of our friends gave us photographer recommendations so it was a bit overwhelming.  We interviewed other photographers and decided to go with Alison and Adm. Best decision we made!They were fantastic to work with for our October 2014 wedding! We first used them for an engagement photo session which was great.  The pictures turned out beautiful, but it gave us a chance to spend an afternoon getting to know them. Not only are they great photographers, but they are fun people to hang out with.  This was important to us as we'd be spending our entire wedding day with them. We also did site visits with Alison and Adm a few weeks before the wedding and they immediately came up with Plans A and B for pictures depending on weather. On the day of our wedding, Alison spent the day with the bride and Adm with the groom. They captured the beautiful first look moment, bridal party and family photos, amazing detail shots and the fun candids from the receptions that showed the fun time had by all. They were very organized and kept the bridal party and family photos right on our timeline. The day went great as they captured all of our important memories.We couldn't wait to see the finished product. Wow, the pictures were breathtaking! FANTASTIC WORK! Wedding photographers have intimate access on your wedding day, so it's imperative to hire personable professionals you actually like and want around.  Alison and Adm fit the bill perfectly!  And, most importantly, their photography is topnotch. We wanted non-invasive photographers who would capture our day in the best light possible without staging it or manufacturing inauthentic moments, and Alison and Adm did just that. They worked quickly, which is vital because your wedding day moves so, so fast.Plus, they worked easily with our other vendors and actually went above the call of duty by helping with minor, non-photography day-of glitches. Adm calmed my nervous groom while Alison alerted our wedding planner of an unexpected guest--not in their job description but they jumped in to help anyway.     After receiving quotes from other photographers, we found Alison and Adm to be competitively priced, and there were NONE of the hidden, nickel-and-dime fees that can be commonplace in the wedding industry. Alison and Adm are incredible talents - their background in documentary-style, photographic journalism means they excel at capturing the intimate, in-between moments. ..from an incredible shot of my friends sneaking a peek at me putting on my wedding dress (added to the gallery), to a quiet moment between an infant and her parents (we gave this picture to the family and they said it was the best gift EVER). We honestly felt that many of our friends and family have never been captured as stunningly as in these pictures.They both frame marvelous compositions - having seen the array of other photographers of our venue, Piedmont Community Hall, we honestly don't believe that any have captured the area as artfully. Leading up to the big day, Alison was super-helpful in helping us make decisions based on what would we best both from a money-budget as well as a time-budget perspective, from creating a loose timeline of the wedding day and suggesting that we may not need the full 8-hours, to recommending I get ready close to the venue so we don't lose precious photo time at the event.On top of all that, you can trust that both Alison and Adm are lovely, warm people who genuinely want to make sure you have a great experience. Alison and Adm are as good as it gets: professional, attentive to details, efficient and very talented. There is a wonderful artistry to their work that captures not just images, but emotion, encompassing both the formal and personal moments. They referred to themselves as documentarians when we first met, and delivered on exactly that by beautifully capturing the story of our day. They also did an amazing job coordinating our tight timeframe to squeeze in locations around town before sunset. And because it was around the Holiday, they went above and beyond to turn around our photos so we could share in our Holiday card.But what I appreciated most, was the rapport. Alison Yin Wedding Photography is amazing.  I don't tend to write Yelp reviews often, nor do I freely use superlatives.  But there is no better way to describe Alison and Adm's work.  Alison and Adm photographed my wedding at the Berkeley City Club in October and I could not have dreamed of a better team to work with.  Their photos are spectacular and literally take my breath away. What made them truly incredible was their professionalism throughout the process.  They were very easy to work with and went above and beyond in organizing a very large wedding party, keeping over 50+ relatives on schedule for our portraits and staying fun and lighthearted to ensure that my husband and I enjoyed our day.  Their professionalism extended well beyond our day, however.  We had a set of teaser photos the day after our wedding - a wonderful treat for us to relive all those wonderful memories, especially for an over-eager bride who loves instant gratification!  And despite their incredibly busy schedule, they delivered the remainder of our photos right on time, even surpising us with a slideshow that perfectly captured our day (with our First Dance song as the soundtrack, no less!).  I could not recommend Alison and Adm more highly.  There are a lot of photographers to choose from, and we spoke with many of them before deciding whom to hire.  But, you will not regret your decision to have Alison and Adm photograph your special day.  You want the best for your wedding and you will get that (and more) with them. Let's be honest. Lots of people can take good pictures. Personally, I feel that what makes a great picture is being able to properly capture the person or couple's personality. My wife and I live on the east coast but were getting married in the Bay area. We knew there would be little time to get to know a photographer but with Alison and Adm that was all we needed. They are very relatable and easy to get to know. Adm shared different stories with my groomsman and I and Alison and Adm shared some moments about them as a couple. It was very sweet and made the situation much more relaxing. Short of the staged pictures, I barely even knew they were there. Finding a great photographer was one of the really important items on our wedding to do list - the problem was I didn't really know where to start since I was planning our Sonoma wedding from Singapore where we live. After trawling through several websites and yelp reviews of photographers - I came across the wpja.com website where I found Alison Yin Photography listed amongst many others. But after looking through the amazing pictures on the Alison Yin photo gallery of the previous weddings she and Adm had done, I was pretty sure I wanted them as our photographers as I loved their natural style. Being based in Singapore, we arranged a Skype call with Alison and Adm and we were sold by their friendliness, enthusiasm and unpretentious nature. I was also pretty happy when they shared they only accept a certain number of weddings a year. Alison is very efficient and organized and she was always prompt in replying our emails whenever we had any questions or requests. On the day of the wedding, we had fun having our photographs taken by Alison and Adm, they were able to capture the right moments without making us stand in awkward unnatural poses. My husband and I really love the pictures that they took on our wedding day, and received a lot of compliments on the photographs from our friends as well. I have seen Alison's work before since I work for a catering and event company in the area.  It was exactly the style we were looking for for our wedding.  The only problem was, she was booked for our date : (.However, she recommended us to one of her associate photographers, Brad Zweerink.  I looked through his portfolio online, liked what I saw, and we set up a meeting.  My now husband and I got along with him so well, it made the decision so easy!We did both an engagement session and the wedding photography with him.  During the engagement session, he gave us minimal instruction and snapped away, which gave us great natural photos that didn't look really staged.  We loved our engagement pictures!  As the wedding got closer, he was very easy to get in contact with (VERY important when you have bridal brain and need to get things done as quickly as possible) and really helped me out with the process.  Things went so smoothly on the day of!  We had two shooters, which was a must for me.  During the ceremony, I barely even knew he was there, other then hearing the click if he was close to us.  He worked so well with helping getting the large family shots after the ceremony (we did the majority of the pictures before the ceremony), which are always so tricky.  Since I work in catering, I also asked for some really specific detail shots of the food and the room design, which he was happy to get for me.  He is still working on the post production (we only got married a couple of weeks ago), but the teaser he sent us, we are so happy with!  We can't wait to see more!So a big thank you to Alison for the recommendation!  Even though she was booked, we got high quality photos in the same style that we will have in our home forever.  So fret not, if Alison isn't available for your date, her associate photographer is fantastic too! Alison and Adm are amazing, plain and simple.  Alison went to school for documentary photography and she has an eye for the moments you don't want to miss (as disgustingly sappy as that sounds, it's true. )  Adm and Alison make a great team - they're professional, fun, and take amazing photos.  They're so cool and collected that when Adm BROKE his very expensive camera on our wedding, I didn't even know about it until the week after - he just went and got his back up camera and didn't sweat it, and I got to enjoy my beautiful wedding over and over again through their pictures.  Plus, they're super fun to be around.  My wife is uncomfortable being photographed, and they put her at ease so she didn't even notice that they were taking pictures of her, even when we were doing our portraits with the sole purpose of them taking pictures of us.I can not recommend them highly enough.  Two total rock stars. My husband is an accomplished photographer, so we were very selective when it came to choosing a photographer for our wedding last summer. We wanted someone with a unique and artistic eye, a photojournalistic style, and who would be unobtrusive and easy to work with on the big day. And of course we didn't want to break the bank. We were thrilled to find Alison and Adm, who were all of this and more. We had a great afternoon taking engagement photos in Oakland and Marin, experimenting with different shots that played with the lighting and natural scenery. And at the wedding they were easy to work with and herded our families effortlessly. The results? Their photos were, quite simply, gorgeous. I found Alison by typing "wedding photojournalist" on Google.  I specifically searched for photojournalist because it was important for us to capture special moments that will tell the story of our special day through pictures.   There are plenty of great photographers out there are well but we found that Alison was the best for us.  Since the first time I contacted her, Alison was very organized & quick to respond to emails or phone calls and was very professional throughout.Alison shot our engagement photos as well and they came out beautifully.  Alison is wonderful in using natural light in her photos.  She has an amazing eye and is able to shot from angles that are creative and embodies tenderness and love in a photo.  On our wedding day, Alison was ready to go no need for detailed instructions as far as capturing details that are important for me to document- She knows what to highlight in documenting a wedding.  From the details of our wedding bands, to the programs at the church, to the details of my veil and many more she captured all of them beautifully.  In capturing emotions she snaps her camera just the right timing.  Alison takes photos that you will love to look back over and over again because it brings you back to that exact moment on your wedding day. In planning our wedding, photos were important to us. We'd been to weddings where the photographers tried to hijack the show, and we'd seen plenty of wedding photos that came out only marginally better than those shot by the crazy uncle in the corner. That's not what we wanted. We wanted a photographer with professional experience, one who knew how to take a good photo, while blending into the background when she had to; a photographer who would add to the experience of the wedding rather than detract from it. We found all of that in Allison Yin. Allison and her partner Adam shot our July wedding in Tilden Park, and throughout the experience they were the consummate professionals. Allison has a background in photojournalism, which allows her to take part in the event in a way that is not intrusive. She and Adam captured every important moment in the wedding and did it all with a poise and professionalism that we only wish all our vendors exhibited. At a wedding with multiple guests who had worked in photography in someway, with what seemed like more SLR cameras than point in shoots in the guests possession, we knew Allison would have to rise to the occasion if she were to impress the guests in attendance; and she did. Choosing a great photographer for our wedding was one of our top priorities, so when a friend recommended Alison I took a look at her website.  Her photos are absolutely beautiful!  We went in to meet with her, and she's also very sweet and easy to work with, so we were sold.  This is one of the best wedding decisions we made.  During the wedding, Alison and Adm were fun, but also took the job very seriously and kept us on schedule.  It's important to have a photographer you're comfortable with, because you don't want any awkwardness on your wedding day!  They are super friendly people and easy to like.  I believe their pictures speak for themselves in terms of results.  Photography is an art, and these two know their art well. Alison did both our wedding and two engagement sessions and she and Adm are AWESOME!!! They spent a whole day with us dragging them around the Bay Area, starting with a winery in Morgan Hill and then heading up for two shoots in San Francisco (AT& T Park and Baker Beach by the Golden Gate Bridge). The photos were all completely awesome! The two of them then shot our wedding and everything we've seen so far is spectacular. They helped make the day a breeze and got great compliments from our families and friends. My family said they barely even noticed that they were around, which led to some great candid shots. Although we haven't decided on our wedding photographer yet, we had the pleasure of interviewing Alison via telephone. She is professional and charming and as down to earth as anyone can be. She addresses all the details and offers great suggestions and takes much pride in her customer service. She responds to your requests/inquires with lightening speed. I don't know how much more I can boast about her only having e-mails and a phone conversation. But I can tell her personality is definitely one that works well with everyone. I had Alison shoot my June 2009 wedding, and I am soooo glad that that I did! She save me the most amazing photos that I will treasure forever. I worked with Alison on a marketing promotions project in early February.  She was extremely professional and talented.  It was a great pleasure having her around and often we didn't even notice she was there becuase she was so good at being incognito with her long lens camera.  She got the pictures uploaded in record breaking time of just 1 week.  The photographs were mainly done in the day but also at night and were beautiful.  I highly recommend her for projects and especially if you have a special event like a wedding or such.alisonyinweddings.comalisonyin.com More...
