In training with Mrs. Trickel for the past few years, I've been helped in changing the way i exercise and the way I've changed the way of eating. She has helped me in losing 140 lbs in our time together. If it wasn't for her i wouldn't have been the best version of myself today. :) More...

I've been working with Alex for over a year now. I'm 48, and despite trying my own routines, joining gyms, and even working with a trainer live in a gym, this is the first time I've been able to stick with a consistent workout. It's also one of the only times I've been able to make a significant, and so far consistent, change in my diet and see those results.

I've been working with Alex for over a year now. I'm 48, and despite trying my own routines, joining gyms, and even working with a trainer live in a gym this is the first time I've been able to stick with a consistent workout. It's also one of the only times I've been able to make a significant, and so far consistent, change in my diet and see those results.

We do two live sessions per week and I do two that Alex sets up for me in the app. We also talk about nutrition and diet and how that relates to exercise and how to use the two together to get results. The app Alex uses is great - it narrates the workout and makes it easy to record. Knowing someone else is watching and tracking my workout and that we’ll talk about it next session has kept me consistent. I’ve definitely noticed changes in my body and people have noticed and commented. I’ve noticed a positive change in my mental health as well. Knowing more about how food affects my body and my workouts has helped me make better choices about what I eat.

I’ve appreciated how Alex is flexible and creative with the workouts. She uses what I have available to me and has recommended some minimal equipment when I haven’t had it. She’s been able to change workouts when I have access to a gym, or tailor workouts when I’ve been off camping and hiking. We started with simple movements and lower weights or body weight, and I’m now maxing out my weights on some moves, which feels amazing. She’s slowly, successfully nudged me into doing more than I thought I’d be able to. She’s laid back and keeps the in-person workouts both challenging and fun. I look forward to each one.

I've been working with Alex for a decade and have never considered stopping. She's informed! She's motivating! She's inspiring! It is clear that Alex is thoughtful when structuring my personal plans (for fitness, food and overall health). And maybe most importantly, she listens, she really listens to what I need at any given moment. We make plans together for my goals and I appreciate her willingness to listen and encourage me. Truly this carries over into many aspects of my life beyond physical fitness. Specifically related to fitness and health, we talk a lot about the reasons why I have the goals I have, we talk about how they can change. I love love love the specified workouts and the commitment to discussing overall health. 10 stars at least! More...

Alex is everything I could ask for in a trainer. I have a significant limitation with one of my feet and she finds creative ways to work around the limitation and continuously makes me feel challenged and engaged. Working with Alex has also helped me build strength and learn stretches to significantly reduce the impact that the foot injury has had on my everyday life. She has even made stretching videos and sent them to me on the spot when I have texted her about pain or discomfort. The stretching and strength has been so much better than physical therapy, and the personalization has helped me avoid injury and feel better about myself. When we don’t work out in person, she uses a cool app that includes videos and timers to let me work out on my own. Most importantly, she helped me develop an awesome back that I got to show off in my wedding dress! More...

Working with Alex has been a great learning experience beyond exercise and nutrition. She has taught me how my body works as a complete system. Alex teaches me about my body and how to target areas to stretch and strengthen it. Training with her has made me accountable and to show up. She's helped me have a better relationship with food without shame and judgement. We have been working together for 3 years and counting. I plan to train with her for years to come. More...

Alex is the perfect mix of compassionate support and encouraging accountability partner. She offers tangible solutions to particular struggles and her knowledge of trigger point release & use of the massage roller is just an added bonus! I feel more confident in my body and my strength and my ability to make meaningful progress on my fitness journey. I couldn’t do it without her! More...

Alex is knowledgeable, fun, and truly meets you where you are. I've been training with Alex for over 2 years now and working with her has been the best investment I've made in myself and my health during that time. Alex really takes where you are in your life and in your day-to-day and creates workouts that fit with that - keeping your own goals and constraints in mind. The workouts we do together each week act as an actual workout, a space to learn new moves and techniques, and an opportunity to check in. Alex also creates a few other workouts for me to do on my own time between our sessions - they're easy to follow, and ensure that I'm able to keep making progress (or just serve as a reminder to move my body and take some time for myself). Working out remotely with Alex has been a fantastic experience and I would highly recommend her to anyone else looking for a trainer! More...

I’ve been working with Alex for nearly 10 years and in that time she’s helped me transform my body and has helped me uphold a healthy lifestyle. When we first met, I was not working out or eating well. She’s provided me with the tools I need to make healthy choices and maintain a strong body. Her bubbly personality makes it easy to work with her and I genuinely look forward to our sessions. She listens to my needs and comes up with dynamic fitness plans to help me reach my goals. She truly is the best! More...

I have been working with Alex for well over a year now and she is incredible! I have seen some amazing physical changes in my body but the best changes are with my mental health. Consistently moving my body has really helped improve my life overall!

One of the things I value so much about Alex is she will meet you where you are. Whether its helping you do some rehab so you can run again (thanks achilles tendonitis), strengthen your hips and core to remove lower back pain (thanks sitting all day), or just adapting a session on the spot to meet you where your energy level is at (thanks life), she can do it all and with a smile. She also is super open to feedback on what is working and not and partners with you to build an exercise program (and lifestyle) that meets your goals and evolves as you need/want it to.

Highly, highly recommend working with Alex!

Working with Alex the past two years has been life changing. I started working with her after being fully diagnosed with an autoimmune disease. I thought that fitness was out of the question for me, but with her help I am the strongest and healthiest I have EVER been. I have never met a more humble, kind, and knowledgeable person in their craft! More...

Q&As

Via progressive overload and strength training on the fitness side, and caloric balance on the nutrition side.

No matter what your goals entail, it’s imperative that you push your body (muscles) progressively over time to continue to see change. We practice movement patterns that are best for your current ability and that address any imbalances you may have. We take those movements and make them more challenging as your body adapts- you will continually feel advances in your strength and performance.

Accountability is a huge part of the process too- for fitness and eating habits- I check in with all of my clients multiple times a week to make sure they are movin’ and groovin’ at a good pace.

Consistency! Find a plan and a support system and stick with it long term. There is no secret sauce or shortcut to getting there, playing the long game and playing it well will always pay off in a greater way.

I love building relationships with people and helping them problem solve the intricacies of their wellness. I especially love the ah-ha moments. It can be as simple as a client feeling the engagement in a muscle group for the first time, the animation they show when the scale drops, or the feeling when they hit a new lifting PR- I get very excited to see my clients excited!

Yes, see my description in the about section for more details. Training online is no different than training in person- in fact in a lot of ways it’s better. I was an in person trainer for 10 years before moving online and I’ve found working online to be less stressful as compared to working in a gym for my clients. There is no rush to get to the gym, find parking, etc, and there is a lot more space to put focus into things we may have not wanted to talk about in the gym, like stress levels, eating habits, and recovery practices.

I have clients that train at home and others that go to a gym and take me along on their phone or tablet. I have other clients that travel frequently, the show can still go on in a hotel room or hotel gym! There are fewer things that can get in the way of online training providing a huge boost in consistency and thus results.

Services

Programs can be written to do on your own or during 1 on 1 video training sessions- or a hybrid of both!

All programs include strength training exercises using the equipment you have available in the gym or at home- or solely body weight. I use both an app and spreadsheets to deliver workout programs, this depends on your goals and preferences.

I'm also a running coach and can write training programs for anything from leisure cardio to 5k racing all the way up to marathons.

We will work closely on improving eating habits and achieving a consistent caloric balance. This may mean a manageable deficit for weight loss goals, a surplus for strength and muscle gain, and sometimes a steady maintenance. We'll address the most important components of nutrition first- things like hydration and protein and layer in more habits over time. Everyone is a little different with how we approach nutrition, but I offer as much education, examples, recipes, etc as needed to ensure you consistently feel and see changes.

We'll spend the first few sessions assessing muscle imbalances that can lead to pain and injury in daily life and during exercise. Once we figure out your tight spots, overactive and underactive muscles, we'll put together a simple routine to help balance things out to release this stress and improve mobility to prevent future issues.

There are many factors related to recovery or lack there of that affect your progress and fitness results. Things like stress, anxiety, tension, sleep hygiene, or energy balance are all important things to consider for not only your fitness, but long term health. We'll work together to come up with bite sized habits when needed to improve your workout (and life!) performance.

What you do during your workouts is really important, but how you sit or stand all day is even more impactful on your posture (which affects your workouts!). If needed, we'll take some time to adjust your work station to ensure you are equipped to sit or stand with the best possible posture throughout the day.
