Alert K9 Training Center

Coming from Working in the veterinary field for the past 15 years and also working with Ryan and the Alert K9 team for their veterinary needs, I finally needed them for my own very tuff, scared, nervous & aggressive Ms Ava. Ryan is amazingly knowledgeable and I was blown away with our evaluation appointment. BLOWN AWAY!!! He is a true master at what he does. Back story: I had to take our Ava in after a incident at home that involved our other dog and our teenage son. With the instructions from our evaluation, we are busting our butts to get “her and us” corrected and trained properly. AND let me tell you- night one Ava is knocking it out of the park!!! I could not do this without Ryan and the staff at Alert K9. We have some future private appointments for her and I’m so excited to have Ryan train us. Alert K-9 is by far the BEST place to take your dog for training. Ryan trains the owners too. He is patient, very knowledgeable and very kind. I bought my K9 in a few days ago for orientation. Ryan was very knowledgeable, thorough, and detail oriented with his explanations and suggestions. My dog has had no training whatsoever and Ryan did a few behavioral corrections during the 45 minute evaluation and my K9 responded immediately.Upon our return to our home we noticed a change in our dog that we attribute to the positive reinforcement she received from Alert K9 under Ryan's direction. We recently completed basic puppy training at Alert K9. Our experience was fantastic. Ryan and his team were extremely professional and have mastered the art of teaching puppies AND THEIR HUMAN PARENTS how to follow instructions. While this class is not a socializing with other puppies experience, we found that having our 5 month old Labradoodle around 13 other dogs, (ranging In size from tiny 4 lb breeds to very large puppies close to 100 lbs) was an added positive experience. Our primary goal was to learn how to train our dog to walk on a loose leash, calmly by our sides without pulling. By the end of the class we had accomplished this challenging feat, along with several other new positive behaviors. My Maisie is four years old now and has been going to Alert K-9 since she was three months old, I knew absolutely nothing about caring for dogs before I met Ryan, but with his help and all the other staff my dog today is well trained and so am I. I have boarded her there several times sometimes for a month while I went out of the country, and for six months while I was very ill, a part of that one of the staff even took her in without charging me a penny. I am so grateful to Megan, Ryan, Denise and Brittney. My dog and I consider them our family. we had our doberman Max board trained with Ryan A four week program Max is very well behaved I can open the door now and he does not Boult I can take him on walks without the leash and he stays by me and does not run away that is wonderful. . Max had a wonderful time there playing with all the dogs in the doggie daycare..Alert k9 training center.. I have been bringing my Rottie/Cattle dog, Shasta, to Alert K-9 for almost one year. Ryan has helped me train my "rottitiller" to become a wonderful dog. When I arrived to one of my lessons I was very frustrated because of Shasta's fear at a local pet store. So Ryan went out of his way and said, "let's get in the car and go there". Let me tell you my story:
I have a 6 year old pit bull named Ruckus. He's not a bad dog; in fact, he's a sweetheart that loves kids and other animals, but he's not the best at listening, especially to me! This really became a problem when we moved to an area where he didn't have space to run around, and there were so many other houses and animals around. We finally found Alert K-9 and brought Ruckus there, but by the time we found Alert K-9, we found out we were moving back to Florida. Even though we would not be able to complete a program, Ryan agreed to work with us as much as we could.
After just the evaluation I saw improvement in Ruckus' ability to listen. As we continued with lessons, I continued to see improvement, but even though I was the one primarily practicing with Ruckus (I'm the one who walks him everyday), he still did not listen well to me. At our last appointment this past Friday, I was able to work with Ruckus and Ryan by myself (I had been pregnant the rest of the visits, so handling Ruckus was a bit difficult for me).
In just 10-15 minutes, Ruckus was already listening to me better than he ever had. By the end of the lesson, I was getting "sit" on the first ask, and he was looking up at me every time I stopped walking and/or asked him to sit. Since the appointment almost a week ago, Ruckus has continued to show obedience with me. I've been practicing with him on every walk (he gets a walk twice a day), and I have continued to get "sit" on the first ask (and he stays in "sit"), and he's continuing to watch me and stop when I stop, rather than me having to stop him or correct him.
The biggest change is his reaction to other dogs. Since being out here in California, he's been bitten three times by the same dog in the neighborhood. He never attacked back, but it has made him a bit weary of other dogs and he started barking when he'd see other dogs. Since Friday, we've seen dogs a few times, and not only has he not barked first, but he only barked one time, he never pulled on me (which he was doing), and after he barked and I began to correct him, he sat down and watched me.
I wish I had found Alert K-9 sooner (or when Ruckus was a puppy), or that we weren't leaving because I know Ruckus would continue to improve. I only hope I can find someone in Florida as good as Ryan and Alert K-9. It's great to not only see results, but to know WHY we're seeing results. I have a 1 year old South African Boerboel (he weighs about 140 lbs) when he little I walked him regularly but I made the mistake of not doing it for some time & I failed to put him in a puppy training class and at 140 lbs I honestly was scared to take him out because every time I did he seriously drug me and it took everything I had to hold him. Which made walking him miserable!!

Last night we had our first private training session with Ryan. Today I took him outside to work with him and have to say it was enjoyable. Even when I was put in a "oh my, I hope I can handle this situation" as we walked down the street I heard some dogs in a yard and I thought "well, I'll walk over there and see how he reacts" as we got onto the sidewalk I noticed a cat like 3 feet from his face. He started to react. I corrected with a pop of the choker and he responded and didn't give the cat another look. yes!!!! Thank you Ryan!!! Can't wait to see what the next class holds. More...

We just want to thank Ryan for helping us to have an obedient dog who is eager to learn and is learning everyday. We had a house full of people and food everywhere for a family BBQ and Buddy was amazing! He greeted our guests appropriately and hung out peacefully on his bed with food in reach. Wife forced me to take our 10lb shih tzu and I thought it was a lost cause as I didn’t think little dogs were smart enough and based on age. Ryan is awesome and put us on track to correct some bad behaviors like barking at leaves, his shadow and pulling on the leash to name a few.
