Nathan matched me with Nicole. Match made in Heaven! Having tried nearly every salon in the Coachella Valley since 2004, I was never happy. At 6 salons before Nicole at Alankara, my request of "Very fine, very few, subtle scattered Highlights" had always turned out to be an entire head of fried monochrome totally bleach blonde newscaster hair that would then turn orangey, and my requests of "low lights" always turned out a muddy mix of red and green undertones. Super-hair-hero Nicole devoted her bright intellect, her considerable experience, her Aveda product knowledge, and her generous time and empathetic ears to hear what I was saying. She studied my hair and even photographed the pictures I brought, and then researched and showed me more photos before we began. She color-corrected in one session what I expected would take 3. And she managed to return me to looking like (a better version of) myself without further damaging my multi-processed hair. Ahhh. The entire team is helpful, and the Old Town salon is lovely. I've had color and haircuts twice now at Alankara in La Quinta and both times were fabulous. My stylist, Bonnie Palmer, gets my highest rating for both her color expertise and my cut. PLUS, she makes your shampoo experience like a first class massage. My shampoo was the best I've ever had in 50 years of going to salons. That's saying a lot. I've been coming to Alankara for a couple of years. Love my hair stylists especially Nicole. She's terrific and gives me a smart wild cut which really emphasizes my pure white hair! Moving on, how they manage their appointments is another challenge though. I had a hair cut and mani/pedi scheduled to follow. My stylist finished my hair on time and I sat down thinking I would go on to my next appointment which will take about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Low and behold another client is sitting with my nail tech and a 1/2 hour later she's just starting her polish. Uh oh....now what's up? I got up and asked the counter girls what happened to my 9:45 appt. Blank looks were exchanged and yes I did have an appt scheduled at 9:45. Suddenly another tech is sent in to do my mani/pedi...okay....but what was up with the other client and my tech. All I can say is stay on top of your appointment because they don't seem to understand that some of their clients may have busy days with back to back appts scheduled which was my case. I'll still come here but I don't have time to spend all day for my appts as they fit other clients into my slots! More...

Annabelle is my go to gal! I trust her 100% with my hair! She is so nice and fun I really enjoy my time with her. My hair is always soft, fragrant and layered to perfection thanks to her and the products she suggests! She is very knowledgeable and talented! The salon atmosphere is wonderful as well! Alankara is one of the best places in the valley to get your hair done. I have people stop me all the time, men included, to tell me they like my hair style and/or color. I see Bonnie who is a brilliant stylist. Her cuts are perfect and color is beautiful. Not only that - she is the sweetest, kindest person. I highly recommend her and Alankara. I came here to get eyelash extensions before my trip to Barcelona. I have gotten these done before but it was my first time getting them done at Alankara. I must say it was an amazing experience and my lashes turned out more natural looking and just overall better than expected! The whole process took a while, but it was so relaxing that I didn't mind. After my lashes were done I got a shoulder massage as one of the complimentary  Aveda pampering the salon offers. Amazing experience, I'll definitely be back! More...

I usually go to Alankara for my hair, but I decided to try out their facial services. I got a 60 minute facial with Audrey and she was on point! My skin felt amazing afterwards. I have really difficult skin and usually break out after facials, but that was not the case with this facial. It is probably from the Aveda products they use, which are all-natural. While I was there, Audrey recommended their eyelash extensions. I am usually pretty hesitant about getting these extensions because I am scared that they will impact what lashes I actually have. But, I tried it and the extensions did not hurt at all. She got the glue just right. The extensions did not look fake and I am so happy with how they turned out! More...

Love the services. April is cool, and always delivers stylish haircuts that fit my personality and overall look. Nina's cabin is magical! ! One facial with her and I get compliments all week! Best facial I have had. Nina was warm and friendly. Her Aveda Green Science facial took away my fine lines. It is a high end salon, but the prices are worth it. The results are phenomenal.

Came here to do a cut and add some natural looking highlights to my hair. I must admit that I was a bit nervous at first being that I've never had anyone color my hair before nor did I even know the first step on how to go about it. I wanted someone who was experienced, familiar, and comfortable working with men's hair. With that being said, I decided to make an appointment with Michael based on the great reviews I read about him here on Yelp. From the second I walked in and sat in his chair, he made me feel so comfortable and at ease about the whole experience. He had such a fun youthful  personality and was genuinely concerned about what exactly I was picturing in my head. After showing him a few screenshots off my phone, he had a really good idea of what I was looking for. He recommended a few colors that I liked and agreed on, then proceeded with bringing it all to life. I got to say I've never had a better haircut in my whole entire life. It really was so much better than I imagined it would be. The color, the cut, the styling, all of it was perfect. I have been coming here since I was in eighth grade--I am now a senior in high school and I recently came in to have partial highlights and a trim before my senior portraits. I went into a MasterCuts about six weeks ago to receive a quick trim and my hair was butchered. I knew Aveda would be able to fix it. I typically have Fabiola but she was sick on the day I came in, so I was taken care of by Britney. She was very nice, didn't small-talk excessively like other stylists, yet was friendly and sincere. My cut and color turned out great!! Aveda is definitely on the pricier side but it's a guarantee that they will use quality products and do an A+ job. I haven't had any other services done, but I know I will be coming here before a big event. The owner is incredibly nice and they offer tea and water while you wait. Keep it up, Aveda Alankara!! This is a great salon. I visted their El Paseo location and got a fantastic hair cut from Sophie. I highly recommend her.  Check them out  they are next door to Starbucks on El Paseo.

I travel across the country for work and I am always very apprehensive when it's time to get my hair cut/colored. I came to Alankara 2 years ago after a friend had her hair done here. She also travels and recommended that I always look for an Aveda Salon. I saw Michael G. on my first visit and he did my hair even better than my girl at home does it, which is hard to compete with! He is extremely professional. You can tell he absolutely loves his job and takes your concerns very seriously. You WILL walk out with exactly what you asked for. I went again a few weeks ago, after returning to the area, and once again- Michael and his assistant did a fantastic job. My daughter, who is 12, had been wanting a specific cut and at the last minute, he even squeezed her in for a very complex cut. The gentleman at the front desk of my hotel gave me Alankara's card and recommended them highly. Michelle took on the project with no hesitation. No notice or reservation. She left me looking gorgeous, gave me so haircare tips, recommended some product for my hair type, and basically welcomed a stranger into her town. I've been coming to Alankara for about 4 years now on & off. I always look forward to my appointments there, since the staff and stylists are always welcoming and easy to talk to. I'm devoted to Michelle, who always gets my hair color & cut right. Most recently, she did ombre color on me which turned out very nicely.Okay, so on my last visit, I stepped outside my comfort zone and tried a facial with Nikki (sp?). I've gotten one facial before somewhere else & it was a bad experience, so I wasn't sure, but OMG, it was amazing. I already have my next one scheduled. It's an extremely soothing experience, almost like a massage for your face (and she actually did go into massage a little with hands, feet & scalp). And you get to choose the scent that most appeals to you, which I loved. My skin looked great, so I ended up going to the El Paseo experience center a few days later to get the moisturizer the recommended. Can't wait for my next appointment! More...

Attended a wedding in La Quinta and needed a place to get my hair/makeup done. I went with Alankara because it's an Aveda salon and I knew I'd be in good hands. I was so happy with the services I received.  Everyone was very friendly. The salon is adorable and located in Old Town La Quinta.  They are pretty expensive. I walked out paying $140 for hair and makeup (including lashes).  For me though, it was worth it. If I'm ever in the area for another event, I'll definitely come back. More...

It always seem to be a gamble to get one's hair and makeup done by someone with whom you have not established a client-stylist relationship.  I hit the jackpot, however, with my experience with Sophie C. at Alankara!In preparation for a formal event, Sophie styled my hair and applied my makeup.  She took the time to listen to what I described and to look at the photos I provided.  She offered her advice but I never felt like she was pushing me in one direction or the other.  Her advice, by the way, was spot-on!I was so pleased with how my hair and makeup turned out-I felt so beautiful!  My husband was wowed!  It was the best first-time-with-a-new-stylist experience I have ever had (I have a lot of them because I move quite a bit).  Sophie was awesome and I highly, highly recommend her.Additionally, everyone with whom I interacted at the salon was so nice.  They were customer-centric and very attentive.  This salon is fantastic!  While I do live out of the area, I hope to have a reason to return to Sophie at Alankara! I went to Alankara about a Month ago to get my roots done and had some low lights added in and I must say I have never been happier with my hair and the over all experience, I grew up here in the Coachella Valley and have tried  just about every salon there is and This Place is it for me Adriana Pina was my stylist and my color came out great! the products used did not irritate me at all and I am extremely sensitive to dyes and bleach however here I had no problems, I will stray no more !  If  you want to walk out feeling great and loving your hair I suggest you Go to ALANKARA in old town La Quinta  ! OMG I loooove this place.  The salon very clean and pretty with super friendly staff.  I got a haircut and a style by Adriana and she's wonderful.  She seems very knowledgeable about the Aveda products.  She wanted to ensure healthy long hair with the different products and services that they have to offer.  Through out  my service everyone comes by greet me including the owners.  She was super sweet.  We talked about the places she travels/going to travel.  I love people who's worldly.   I'll definitely come back sooner than later.  If you have super long hair like me, make sure ask for Adriana she gives really fantastic blowout!!!!!See you guys soon... I had an incredible experience at Alankara. I was visiting from Chicago and desperately needing my hair done. I called the day before Thanksgiving and Manomi was able to get me in that day. When I arrived Manomi greeted me and offered me tea. Michelle did my hair. She did EXACTLY what I asked for, I was needing a blonde color change and cut. She was so friendly and my hair turned out perfect! I have been receiving sooooooo many compliments. Also I received a complimentary neck and shoulder massage by Eva. I have been getting my hair cut here for 10 years. Bonnie always does an amazing job and cuts and styles exactly how I want. I am very picky about my bangs but she gets the length just right every time! The salon is beautiful and relaxing and the Aveda products leave my hair smelling great. Janka at Alankara is the best! I found Janka at another Aveda salon and followed her here and I am so glad I did! First off, on the salon: clean, friendly, great vibe. A true Aveda experience with professional and knowledgeable staff. I love the neck massage with their delicious blue oil and hot towel at the shampoo bowl! Super relaxing! On Janka - Am I SO glad I found her!! I had been going to another (non Aveda) salon for quite a while and got one of the WORST haircuts I've EVER had in my life! Luckily I had one of Janka's cards in my purse and called right away to have her fix (what was left) of my hair! I have naturally brown/black hair and I try to keep it platinum blond. She took so much time with me that day and did such a fabulous job with what I walked in with! I was very happy with her, but not thrilled with the salon she was at. When I found out she moved to Alankara, I had to try her new salon. I am SO HAPPY! Not only does Janka keep my hair super blond, the way I like, she also is great with my super straight and fine hair that shows everything! It's very relaxing knowing I can go to Janka and trust her with my hair. I'm hooked!*A note on the prices - I see a few other people had posted negative reviews about their pricing. Yes, Alankara is not cheap, but you also get what you pay for. For the quality of their products and the amount of time Janka spends on my hair (usually 3-4 hours a visit), I feel like it's worth every penny! This is the place I go to recharge my mind body and soul. Nicole takes care of my hair, Ionie my face, and Sophie my nails. But more than the cut/color, facial, and manicure/pedicure, it is the atmosphere that I love. The owner/management ensures that the salon is a place that people love being in.
