Drove pass by this place for so many times Finally gave it a try I love their sides it has so many options The hummus are fantastic Also the eggplant stew so delicious The kabob is seasoned well The rice was ok the service is friendly The store is organized in the middle of the midtown area Glad they got parking in the back And it's close to a bunch of other shops around the block The vibe is very perish

The kitchen still produces top quality food which is beautifully presented but the front of house performance lets Aladdin down. If it wants to regain its top position in the local restaurant ratings this aspect of the dining experience needs improving. I'm holding my face in my palm...another once-favorite trending down. They really had some of the best flavors I've missed since moving back from Kuwait, but man. .. I took someone there recently who loved an "old souk" experience as much as I did. What in the heck happened to this place? The falafel, and knowing this having been frequent patrons, is astonishing good when you order a freshly fried batch. We did that again, as per usual, and it came out to be rubbery vegetarian hockey pucks. The other dishes we ordered were still ok, but more stars coming off for the pita. Habibi, you know you can't eat a plate of hummus, babaganoush, and other sides which NEED pita to 1) balance the taste, and 2) to even pick it up. But you only give 1 pita per order? Please don't be penny wise and dollar poor. I've have seen too many iconic places close up because of poor choices like this. We stopped by for dinner on a Sunday evening. The parking lot next door was completely full, but luckily they had an additional lot that had open spaces. Upon entering, the restaurant was a little dark and uninviting. I would recommend adding more lighting. The ordering process was very straightforward. We went for dinner yesterday for the first time, and the only other Mediterranean restaurant we've been to was buffet-style, so this was slightly confusing for us at first! They had a sign with instructions on how to order, and so you start with grabbing a tray and you can walk and see all the food options through the glass. There's set options, and we both went with the 1 entree + 3 sides for $17.99. The hot and fresh pita was amazing! I went with gyro as my entree and my boyfriend got the lamb shank, and we were stuffed. The lamb gyro was so soft and tender like it just melted in our mouth. It was one of the best gyros we've had! The staff were nice and patient with us even though we took forever because we were so confused on how this place works. I am really disappointed at Aladdin based on last visit. The shawarma was not like they used make and I think it has a new owner. I ordered babanaug, tabouli and hummus. I have to asked for bread. I received two small bread for large containers. My son loves shawarma, lived in Mid East for years and he is half Mid Eastern so this is staple in the diet. He said it wasn't the same and my husband ate two bites. Very disappointed. The place needs remodeling, it isn't ADA accessible coming in and I am afraid this was the last visit. The counter staff was not English proficient, making ordering difficult. Prices are outrageous even in the economy. I use to come here when the price was good. But recently came just because I was near by and the price had just shot up way too high. I ordered 3 sides with chicken kabob and the price was 18.39 with tax. Insane. That's with water and no drink. I had told the manager that why did the price had gone up again and he said that with everything going up, he had to raise the price again. I mean how many times are you going to raise the price. I told him that I go to dimassi and that the price that I pay is at 16.33 and that's with tax and it's all you can eat. Plus you get drinks and dessert . Food was delicious and very beautiful to look at, strikingly so! Plated very nicely, and lots of little details that really made it nice to look at. They didn't have to serve the kabobs on a nice bed of cabbage, but it looked nice. They weren't forced to have flecks of parsley in the onions, but it was a lovely touch. Stopped by this place for lunch and left very satisfied. Everything I ordered here was delicious. It is served semi-cafeteria style. You grab your tray, they hand you pitas, order you entree, pick your sides and they ring you up. They bring out the entree to you once it's done. Extremely poor business practices. Prejudice location or business. Accepted my catering order and 24 hours before decided they no longer wanted to fulfill the order because I questioned how I will know my order was fulfilled correctly and asked for a price adjustment to my invoice due to a incorrect price listed. Representative Alex (catering order manager) told me directly that I should find another restaurant I. Response to my inquiries. He said just in case because he thinks Ali another manager I gave the original order to "will be taking care of things from here". This is by far my favorite restaurant in Houston. Anytime I visit, I always make my way here for take out or dine in. The place is small but super cozy and relaxing. The food however is AMAZING, it's always fresh and hot. Not over cooked or seasoned like other places I've tried. They really know how to bring out the natural flavor to the meals. The bread is my ultimate favorite here, so light and spongy, hard not to eat as many as possible. Definitely recommend the Roasted cauliflower from here, it is beyond delicious. Most things are good most of the time, but sometimes you'd like some food with your olive oil, and the last serving of roasted cauliflower I got was a) drenched and b) tasted a bit old. Just left this place. Have been coming since 2014. Today I asked counter person to put my hummus in a separate container. Then the owner jumps into the transaction and gives me a strange look when I told him that's what I want . Also, I told him that I didn't want the pita bread that is already in the bag. He tells me that it was baked about 2 hours ago. I didn't like his attitude or spirit. I won't be back! My experience is usually good, but not today! The owner was snarky, condescending and mean. When I go into this restaurant with my daughter, he sits his butt over in the corner and don't say a word! But I guess he decided that I look like a victim, because I was alone, but I'm not alone! Absolutely DELICIOUS! I got a veggie platter and had the opportunity to pick 4 different options- PLUS it comes with free warm bread. I had the Lebanese salad, roasted veggies, chickpeas, and carmelized onion hummus. I recommend every one of these items- they were tasty and so FRESH! I'd be so tempted to get this same plate again when I go back BUT they have numerous different veggie/vegan options (YAY!) that I'd have to force myself to try more! Although I will say, the carmelized onion hummus is a must have. I haven't stopped thinking about it! The only major change/ swap I'd recommend: maybe pick something warm? All of the things I picked except the bread were chilled, I may have enjoyed a warm veggie curry instead of one of the chilled mixed veggie options, but also....
