Fun, themed diner with good food and high prices. We tried a burger and a sandwich and both were really good. We chose to trade the regular fries out for sweet potato fries at an extra cost. The sweet potato fries were delicious, but they gave us so few that they did not justify the extra cost. We ended by sharing the Black Forest shake. Delicious!! Overall, this joint was a bit too expensive for what we received, but we will definitely be back for the shakes! More...

It has very good food and I enjoy it very much.  I and my wife have been many times and have had no troubles at all.  The service is friendly and professional.  I find the fries especially good - always crispy and tasty.  It's an easy atmosphere to be in, with old cartoons running nonstop on screens around the diner.  There's nothing like eating a great cheeseburger with fries and a shake and watching Donald Duck be mean to some poor victim, or Foghorn Leghorn slapping around some hapless character.  It's a great place to relax and decompress. Good food! It's a 1950's style diner, looks like a fine enough place to take your kids. They had Daffy Duck (or was it Donald? I get them confused) cartoons playing on the monitors. Went about 2:30PM on a Wednesday and it wasn't busy but there were a few people in there. Food was good - I ordered a burger and fries to-go, both of which I'd totally eat again. They make it fresh right when you order it, and in my case it's roughly the same cost as going to Whataburger or something like that. There's nothing particularly outstanding or salient about the place, which is why I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5 (no real "WOW" factor) but it's a solid place to stuff your face. More...

This place has an amazing setting with a real 50's vibe to it.  I was so excited to come here.  The food was a little above average.  Servings of fries was a little stingy, but it's okay.  Got the green Chile Muenster burger, and wow.  It was so juicy and tasty, I'd return on a day that nothing else is appealing to me.  2x1 shakes (chocolate, strawberry, vanilla only) More...

All you need is the 56 Bel Air and poodle skirts. Great Value, Great Service and a super cute Diner ambiance complete with bar stools. Ordered the Little Richard a 1/3 patty a Hamburger with Cheese and Fries for $8.00. Upgraded my fries to Sweet Potato for a $1.50 more. I think this is very close to what I pay at many fast food places. Except I get service and there are comfy chairs. Satisfying and way better than any fast food in town. They have sandwiches, salads which are good. The trouble is they serve fabulous milkshakes. You get the fancy glass with whipped cream and the extra left over in the metal container. And you have to resist them if you want to cut down. That is the trouble. They are so good. Can't go wrong for $25.00 with drinks, meals and tips More...

After driving by this place so many times, i decided to stop in for lunch today. I thought I would be disappointed but I was shocked. The fries were cooked good that I couldn't get enough of them. The burger was cooked like it was homemade. It didn't have a lot of grease and had taste. Not to mention it was only five bucks. So I will be going back again. More...

I usually don't like burger places, but oh my! THEY TRULY HAVE THE BEST BURGERS EVER!! I had all kids of requests and usually in other restaurants when you have substitutions they make mistakes or take forever, not here! I came with my family and now it has become our favorite spot!! Come, you will not regret it. You will leave truly satisfied.Sorry I have no pictures of my food since I truly wasn't expecting to be this delicious and good but for sure next time I come (which will be soon) I will post some. Came here for the first time today. Wasn't packed at all, and service was awesome. They sat us down quickly & asked for our drink order. I took the servers advice and tried the chickaboom and hubby ordered the burger with guacamole with curly fries. Food order took about 10mins which is good timing and I could tell it was cooked fresh and it tasted delicious.Server was awesome and came to check on us often. I would give this a 5 star, but the only issue I had was that I got very little fries and hubby got a lot of curly fries. But other than that, great service and delicious food! More...

I love this place. We were aimlessly wandering for a food place on Christmas Day. Everything was closed, except AJ's. You walk into the 1950's or 60's with great music, and the classic diner experience. The shakes are to die for (and that's that I'm lactose intolerant), the tortilla soup was heavenly, and the hamburgers are....(no words to describe). The meat patty is all made by hand, the ingredients are fresh. I am definitely coming back here. I have driven by this restaurant hundreds of times and never gave it the time of day! I regret not coming sooner. More...

This place is a nifty 50's/60's style diner and even has outdoor seating.  I had the roast beef melt and hubby had Hbuger. My sandwich was awesome beef was tender & juicy and had a slice of tomato & green chili both were fresh. Hubby's buger had some sort of Mexican style cheese sauce on the side which was also very good. French Fries come with the meal and they were very tasty like fresh cut fries. The only drawback would be they open late like around 10am. But, if your in the area or want a destination to go to for a meal this should be on your list to visit. More...

I went here for my birthday since I have a thing for 1950's inspired diners and this was the finest experience with food I've had to date in El Paso. Just when I thought all hope was lost, I found this place! The decor inside is awesome, it's very thoroughly laid out and recreates that past look nicely. As I scanned the menu the hilarious pop culture references made me laugh like something out of Pulp Fiction. There's so many different kind of foods that I actually wanted to eat but when my reuben came I knew I made the right choice! It was amazing, love that it came with a dill pickle. Then for dessert I had a malt and it was done just right, and that's not an easy thing to do. Will be coming here again soon! VERY satisfied with my experience here. It has been at least 4 years since I had been to this place. Let me tell you it was as good as I remembered it. The wings are outstanding and everything else is just plain goodness (try a shake).  I may not have been raised on the "Westside" but I made it my own quickly enough.  Definitely give a try if ever in El Paso with a little bit of time on your hands. Decided to try a new place to eat for lunch so we came here which is pretty easy to miss depending on which way you're driving. Anyways, it wasn't very busy on Saturday at around 12:00. One of the first things you may notice is the jukebox. You pick where you want to sit which was easy for me and my wife since it wasn't busy. Our waiter came not even a minute after we sat down and ordered our drinks in which I had a chocolate Coke which I never tried before but was very delicious more of a dessert drink. When the waiter came back I decided to order the "Throw in the kitchen sink burger". With it not being busy our food came out exceptionally fast. The burger was great it was a 1/3 pounder with bacon, grilled onions, mushrooms, green chili, jack, and cheddar cheese on top of the normal lettuce, pickles, and tomato. The only thing i could complain about was that the bread easily fell apart with so many toppings so I decided to cut it in half to enjoy it. I thought all the flavors would be overwhelming but they all balanced each other out. The French fries were like any normal fries you would order at a burger joint but combined with their homemade ranch dressing it was superb. The ranch wasn't too creamy and had a lighter consistency to it. The waiter came numerous times to check on us through our entire visit and was very friendly. I only wish that they had the jukebox continually running to keep to the theme of a 60's diner I probably only heard one song our entire visit. Other than that the food was very reasonably priced for what you get. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good burger joint. More...

I am extremely picky when it comes to breakfast because I like it my way and can make it at home ... so when we landed in Santa Teresa and needed a place to eat I was pretty grumpy when the guy at the airport was vague and said, "Um theres a place for bar-b-que, and a Subway" . .. for breakfast?! Thank goodness for smartphones and Yelp! Which easily led me to AJ's.The place was empty, maybe because it was 10:30 am on a Monday? First glance over the menu I noticed how reasonably priced everything was ... fast food priced for a sit down meal, nice!I don't remember what it was called on the menu but it was the simple breakfast of 1 egg, hashbrowns, 2 pieces of bacon, and toast for under $5 ... might have been $4.49, I can't even get a decent meal from McGross for that price. My egg was perfect, and I'm a weirdo who only eats the yolk, so I appreciated that it was truely over easy so I was able to enjoy all of the runny yolk. The hashbrowns were PERFECT! I am a perfectionist when it comes to hashbrowns. I hate when they become too soft in the center or don't have any flavor - cook them with butter! And I believe that's what AJ's does ... nice buttery perfectly cooked crispy on the outside hashbrowns and then just the right amount of crisp to the bacon. I couldn't have made it any better myself. All I had to add was a tiny bit of pepper and salt and I cleaned my plate! The only downside was the toast, I appreciate the thought of them not buttering it, but instead bringing margarine out for you to do that on your own - but I do not like margarine at all. I didn't ask for butter, maybe I should have and they would have provided some for me?Oh maybe I should say what my boyfriend ate? He ordered the Huevos Rancheros, he says, "It was delicious-o" ... sorry, that's all I can get out of him!All in all, if I lived anywhere near AJ's in El Paso I would eat there often - our waiter was a really polite guy who was attentive but did not hover, the food was delicious, and the value was spot on! AJ's Diner is best known for it's burgers however - don't dismiss the rest of their menu.  When I lived in town AJ's was always one of my favorite breakfast spots on the weekends.  The portions are great and the prices are very reasonable.  They have some great Mexican dishes.  Yes, I know, burritos and tacos usually aren't featured on an American diner menu but you know, "When in Rome..." What I like best though is the atmosphere.  The jukebox is usually playing and the decor is very "Happy Days". More...
