Affina

What fun! I had been meaning to go to Affina for a while and finally got there with a posse of dear friends. The ambiance is lively and fun with a wonderful guitarist/singer. The addition of the live music was a real treat and uncommon in Carmel and added a lot to the “fun factor”. The food was delicious. We ordered the roast cauliflower and crispy fries for appetizers and I had the ahi tuna stack which was delicious. The wine list was quite good and the service was excellent. This is our 2nd time and we were again thrilled with the attentive service and truly delicious food. My husband was wantin their great hamburger and they were out of beef so instead at our request they gave him a Ahi Burger. He loved it along with onion rings. I had their special of the evening which was also Ahi served with great chunky mashed potatoes and lovely vegetables. I love how they also make chunky veggies. The sauce was Mango chutney. Another guest had chicken piccata with 2 huge pieces and the other Carbinara which he said was the best ever!!!I think this will be our go to place when we come down here. On our annual girls trip we had an amazing dinner at Affina of the freshest sea bass and clam chowder made fresh to order with tender clams in the shell. Our server was very good but I noticed at the table next to us that the person clearing the table, stacked three plates in front of one of the guests, before removing. I recently dined at Affina for my 26th birthday and felt compelled to leave a review on how great the experience was.The restaurant is cozy, modern, and in a perfect spot in downtown Carmel. It's the perfect mix between casual and elegant. Andreas, our guide for the evening, was energetic, fun, and knowledgeable - he gave us excellent service despite a very full dining room and many other tables to attend to.We started with the burrata which was very fresh and delicious. I had the carbonara and my girlfriend had the steak. The carbonara had one of the better sauces I've ever tasted on any carbonara and the pasta was cooked perfectly. The steak was also well cooked and came with its own delightful sauce with tasty side veggies that had a very distinctive, original cook and flavor. Two common dishes that the chef put a refreshing and flavorful take on.Mark the piano player took the evening to the next level by leading the restaurant in singing a happy birthday for me. This might embarrass some so know that my girlfriend specifically asked for this and not only did Mark accommodate her request, he was gracious, genuine, and professional about it.
