Everyone we’ve worked with at Adopt-A-Dog has been just wonderful. We’ve enjoyed being able to help in their mission to secure loving forever homes for dogs in need. We love supporting their fantastic Puttin’ on the Dog event each year and look forward to continuing to work with them in the future! More...

The staff there are caring and concerned about making sure that the pet you adopt is a good fit for your home. My dog was dropped off the day I was there. I watched her come in and she came right to me. She was 6 years old,and had been severely neglected. Despite all that, she was immediately friendly and loving to me. The staff insisted on checking her out, grooming her and attending to spaying and skin problems before they would give me an answer. After they did, they told me about her probably chronic allergies and skin problems. I had dealt with this before, and was happy about their honesty. They also carefully vetted me. Having been in animal rescue myself years ago, I was delighted to see how careful they were that the dog was ready for adoption and that we were a good fit. Adopt-a-Dog is a wonderful organization! I love this agency! Have adopted several adult dogs throughout the past 20 years: Scotty and Chula (2 for one special on a Presidents Day years ago); my beloved beagle, Sammy, who we adopted the same day his owner dropped him off because of personal health issues. Last, but surely the most needy, was Honey Girl! She'd been a breeder dog down south, kept in a cage since she'd been born, but was a Katrina rescue. When I first saw her at Adopt a Dog, she had just given birth, but her pups had been euthanized because of the storm. Thin, ragged, nipples hanging down to the ground, she screamed for love. We took her that same Christmas Eve and nursed her back to health. Like the others, we miss and love them all. Please adopt if you can! Love and caring IS contagious. More...

We adopted a great pit bull mix from Adopt-A-Dog, named Missy. She was around 6 months when we got her, and we had many years of fun and enjoyment with her. She was a super-A+ dog, a little zany sometimes, but a great great dog. We believe she was from New Rochelle. And, Adopt-A-Dog is an excellent place. They are very good with their dogs, extremely helpful, overall very excellent. More...

They are realists in adopting dogs to real families, instead of "fantasy families' so many rescues want...mom stays home 24/7 right? Um no...we adopted our Tsuki from them and she has been an amazing dog- they got her from a high kill shelter and she was skin and bones AND so shy. We got her over 10 years ago and we still adore her every day! We just met "Red" at the vet, another mixed breed owned by another family who went to Adopt a Dog- he is a healthy 14! Tsuki is a loving, amazing, friendly dog - really rescued from death and absolutely beautiful, people ask us what breed? We say "rescue" -♥ Thank you so much for letting us adopt from you! More...

In adopting Kleio (aka Viola Davis) we had a fabulous experience. Having recently lost our fur baby, we weren't quite sure what to expect with bringing a new dog into our home. However, the staff had awesome knowledge about their animals and matched us with our now pur-fect princess. They have continued to be supportive post adoption and are always there when we have any questions regarding our new family member. The effort and love they put into getting to know there animals have been unmatched with our prior adoption experiences at other shelters. Thank you to everyone there for all your support! More...

We adopted "Max" and "Bella", brother and sister kitties from an Adopt-a-Dog event at Sherman Park in Greenwich, CT fall 2015. Max and Bella were so young, they were a part of a litter sleeping huddled together in a cage and could not be held because they had not had shots yet. They will be 2 years old this July and are the light of our lives...especially for our 8 year old daughter, Jenna. She has never known a love like this and holds a special place in her heart for her kitties. Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to show our daughter true love for animals. It has been an exceptional jouney! More...

I adopted Sadie from AAD back in 2005 after several months of looking for the perfect addition to our family. Though we first went there going to adopt another dog we had seen online, they showed us Sadie (and a few others). We fell in love with her almost immediately. They described her quirks, and what they had learned about her in the time she stayed at AAD. They made the adoption & integration process smooth & easy. More...

Adopt-A-Dog does great work! They rescued my dog Sparky, a pit bull/pointer mix, from Death Row at a NYC dog pound in 1999, and we adopted Sparky in April of that year. Sparky was a beautiful dog, all spotted, so most people thought she was a Dalmatian. My kids David and Kristen grew up with Sparky, enduring long bouts of doggie kisses from Sparky. And she inspired me to write children's books about her. Sparky and I visited hundreds of schools around here, as well as going on book-reading road trips to upstate NY, New Orleans, and the Miami, FL area. She had thousands of fans and friends across the country through her books and visits. Although Sparky passed away a few years ago, she definitely changed my life, and her legacy lives on through her books and donations to Adopt-A-Dog. And it all would not have been possible without Adopt-A-Dog rescuing a doomed little dog all those years ago. Thank you, Adopt-A-Dog!! More...

The staff at AAD in Armonk NY were just excited that we wanted to adopt a dog. They answered all our Q's. Checked on us weekly and told us to come by whenever we needed to ask questions or share things related to Kerry. It was so worth it. When we decided to adopt a companion for Kerry 6 months later we had no hesitation we went straight to their web page and long story short we adopted a wonderful puppy who just happens to be Kerry's baby boy. We were meant to get him. We adore the staff at AAD in Armonk. The Spillane family in Bedford want to say a big tks to the staff More...
