Abita Roasting Co - Madisonville

I guess social distancing isn't a thing here, everyone was crammed in line to get to the place you order. The exterior is nicer out front than in the back, more well kept. However, there's more privacy in the back. It was very loud inside when ordering and that coupled with these masks we're wearing made it difficult to hear when ordering. At thebordering countering you'll be pleasantly suprised to oogle the fresh pastries! Oh yes, quite the variety! The cashier was extremely pleasant and answered all my questions without hesitation or irritation, great customer service. My decaf latte was done promptly around the corner at the pick up shelf. It was perfect, just perfect. I also ordered a cranberry orange muffin top and a bacon, egg, cheese biscuit. The muffin top was a bit grainy in texture and a little sticky and dry, flavor was really good. The biscuit was delicious, the bacon good, cheese was just plain ole American-nothing special. The egg...the egg...must have been a precooked patty, was rubbery and tasteless. I'd have been better off without the egg because it didn't add anything of value. One of our favorite breakfast spots! The food is always fresh, hot, and large portions. My fiancé and I usually split the sunriser breakfast and it' s plenty for both of us. We love the coffee here and the food is delicious, unfortunately every time we come here the service is below average at best. After being sat at a table, I had to request a server after waiting 15 minutes. After we received our drinks, we didn't have anyone check on us again until our food arrived, maybe 30 minutes later. I love this place. They have such good things to get in the morning for breakfast. The breakfast sandwiches are huge & delicious!! And of course their coffees are delicious. I recently ate there for lunch & got the chipotle chicken fajita panini and it was great! They have a spicy ranch sauce that I ordered on the side for the fries and it was the best thing ever. I am so disappointed!!! So at work we finally agreed on a restaurant outside of our usual "go to" restaurants and I was really looking forward to it because I could choose something with seared tuna. I ordered the sesame tuna salad which should include blackened ahi-tuna which, fresh baby greens, avocado slices, grape tomatoes, fried crispy wontons and sesame ginger dressing m. It did have all of the above but totally disproportioned to the point of it being so ridiculous I just had to write this review. It literally had just 1 crispy fried wonton, two...YES I said TWO grape tomatoes and what would equal to a very small slide and a half of over ripened avocado. When I opened it and just saw the baby greens so I thought to myself, "oh, all the other stuff must be underneath and not on top like most places arrange their salads" so a dug through all the baby greens and took out what I was given of the other stuff. I showed my co-workers and everyone laughed including me because it was so ridiculous. So now I'll share the pictures with you so you can get a good laugh too. Great breakfast-brunch restaurant with many options to satisfy even the most particular individuals. There are three locations the ones in Covington and Abita have more menu items and the third in Madisonville (it was actually the second location I believe) that has less menu items but over looks the river. If you're looking for Brunch on the Northshore, look no further than Abita Roasting Co. Covington. It has a nice vibe that is perfect for a brunch with family and/or friends. I have lived on the Northshore for four years and this is by far my favorite coffee shop. Sitting on the porch by the water is beautiful. I have tried a lot of flavored lattes and I would recommend all of them. With that the breakfast sandwiches on a croissant are served all day and are delicious. Cannot recommend this place enough. This place is hit or miss. Sometimes the food and service are excellent and other times it is awful. I literally went in on a Friday and everything was perfect, then I was back on the following Sunday and it was a mess. I would highly recommend the halo's, beignets, and French press. I have tried items from both the lunch and breakfast menu multiple times with friends and family. The consensus is the items on breakfast menu seem to be better prepared. On a good day, I would say this place is a 4-5 stars on service and quality of food. On a bad day, the opposite is true, 1-2 stars. Out of the many times I have gone here it's always either great or horrible. Roll the dice and hopefully you go on one of the good service and food days because it will be excellent. If you end up there on one of the off days, make sure to tell the management and hopefully after enough mixed feedback they will address the issues to make the experience more consistent. More...

UPDATE 2: Like I've said before, hit or miss. My daughter loves this place, so we can't stay away too long. It' s really amazing the highs and lows we experience. When it's high, it makes me want to come back every weekend. When it's low, it makes me never want to return. The last two experiences I've had have been really good. The host stand situation seems to have worked out, and the young guy working that position is about as friendly as friendly can be, so it's hard to be upset even when the backup begins. If you find yourself here on a day when the wait has not  hit hard, definitely give it a go. If the line is out the door, you should be too. Or just settle in and grab a coffee. Ordered Cheesy Burger No Tomato they forgot the cheese but brought sliced cheese to the table no straws no napkins no silverware no menus coffee was in togo cups :( no outdoor dining service had to ask for silverware and water who is supervising these people
