Ok, I don't normally review places, but I had to in this instance. I scheduled with Crystal and really didn't know fully what I wanted done to my hair, but I knew that I wanted a bold new color and asked her to push me outside my comfort zone. She was very honest with me about options and a couple of hours later, I walked out with an unplanned cut and beautiful color that I have gotten tons of compliments on. I've been natural for a long time, and finding a hair salon knowledgable about kinky-textured hair has been an issue ever since I initially went natural. This salon is single handedly the BEST that I have been to. Simply put, the staff knows their stuff, and the atmosphere is very inviting, professional, neat, etc... Scheduling an appointment was extremely easy, prices are extremely reasonable and they even offer discounts for Students and Seniors despite already having affordable costs for their service. Crystal is an awesome hair stylist. I have been to a couple of salons during my transitional period of going natural and my hair always seemed to smell like burning hair when I walk out. I came to Crystal looking for a stylist who was not just worried about getting my hair straight, but me having healthy hair. Now my hair does not have that burnt smell, but still has that great "gone with the wind" fabulous look. It's not just about looking good with her. It is also about having healthy hair. I visited A Nu U Transitional Salon for the first time a week ago and Crystal Baptiste was absolutely wonderful! I have been natural for several years now and have been looking for someone who has years of experience with styling and growing natural hair. Crystal is definitely that stylist! I loved how transparent and honest she was about my hair and appreciated her advice on hair care products and ways to take better care of my natural hair. The salon is very intimate and inviting. I've been going for a few months and can say Crystal and Cenithia create a fun salon environment and both are very personable. Crystal is very knowledgeable of every aspect of caring for natural hair (so pick her brains) and has no problem telling you what will and will not work for you. THE BEST SALON EVER!!! I've been Crystal's client for about two years now and will continue being her client as long as she continues doing hair in Charlotte. Crystal is a wonderful hair stylist and very knowledgeable. When I moved to Charlotte in 2012, I tried several hair salons. I will NEVER go back. I've been in Charlotte for over 12 years and have visited numerous shops, but never got the service and knowledge that I received from both Crystal & Cenitia. Yes the shop is small, but just the right size to get that personal attention that is needed. Yes yes yes!!! I love this place. Please understand that while it's not always easy to get a haircut appointment here when you want it is worth it. Since coming to Charlotte it's not easy to find a place that takes care of natural hair and actually help it become healthier. I went to Crystal in September for a Sisterlock consultation and returned for her to do my Sisterlocks. She was very detailed regarding the process, cost, and maintenance. I have since returned to her for maintenance and like my previous two visits she was very timely. She also did a permanent color. She is very personable but honest about your hair and its capabilities. I really enjoyed my experience at this salon. During my first visit, I received a relaxer, blow-dry, and style. Although I only got my hair flat-ironed, it still looked fabulous.
