I will be back! Food was good, I haven’t had good curry goat and curry chicken in a long time. I recommend coming here.

We have been interested in 9.19 Cusine since they opened near Harris Teeter on Capital Blvd in Wake Forest.  We stopped in today on a whim instead of eating Pizza for the umpteenth time. ..And WOW, were we impressed!  Angie was sweetheart, she told us her story on how the resteraunt was named 9.19 (and small dinner plates priced at $9.19),  while the resteraunt was also in area code 919 (ask her when you go in).  The Jerk Chicken was for real...very flavorful and just the right amount of heat.  The fried plantains were perfect, the brown stew chicken bold and a bit of sweet.  I would go back for just a peice of her corn bread!! Tried both the oxtail and the jammin shrimp. Both were outstanding. The former was rich and with the cabbage and greens (forgot the proper name) sides made for a delicious meal to share (as it is a bit pricey). This place has amazing service. Very friendly staff and the beef patties are fresh and amazing. The food on the other hand. ... it’s not bad. The only thing I’ll say is that when you charge high prices I expect quality. I’m a huge Mac and cheese connoisseur and the Mac and cheese was made with some cheap tasting cheese like a fake velveeta or something .. rule number one real macaroni should always be made with cheddar. I was in Wake Forest for a few days visiting my Tarheel Family. I live in New Orleans. I was in here 2 days out of 3. Would have gone for 3 days out of 4 but would have missed my flight out! Everything was terrific.

I absolutely love this place! My 12-year-old and I have gotten food from here twice. The fried chicken is so delicious and the jerk chicken is the best I've ever had. I've also had the chicken with curry sauce and almost licked the plate clean. This is the real deal!  If you're not familiar with some of the items on the menu, they are happy to explain or let you try a sample. What a great little find. I've been to the Caribbean many many times. So this place was a delight to find. The only thing lacking is the atmosphere, but if you've been to the lo los of the islands, anything more would feel odd. We had the curry chicken and jerk chicken. My kids loved both. The curry is mild yellow curry and the jerk is a jerk bbq that is delightfully hot. Add some corn bread red beans and rice and it was all good. It's always good to support your small restaurants. Great place for authentic Caribbean food. I'm a regular and routinely order the Curry Shrimp, Curry Chicken, Oxtail, and Escovitch Snapper. My only critique is it's not as spicy as advertised, so let them know when you order if you like it got. The service is great but I recommend calling ahead - I usually did in.
