Renoda photographed our small wedding in May of this year. We chose her because she focuses on non-traditional couples - and that's us. We're both on our second marriage and older and our wedding was a daytime wedding. With just one meeting with Renoda, we knew she would capture the spirit and joy we were trying to convey with our celebration. We loved it! That’s what we have to say about the photo shoot we had with Renoda Campbell Photography before Christmas last month. Having my children and grandchildren home for Christmas was the best gift I received but the photo shoot made it extra special. Renoda is such a professional and definitely knows her stuff when it comes to photography. She picked the perfect locations on our property to use as backgrounds for the best lighting and, best of all, she knew how to direct us to pose to get some very touching and memorable photos. I was planning my wedding from a distance and after reading some reviews, I reached out to Renoda. When we spoke on the phone, I knew she was going to be our photographer. Her work is beautiful and she is a just a joy herself. I couldn't afford her to stay for much of the reception and I was worried she wouldn't get many photos of our guests. We just received our photos and there are plenty of beautiful candid shots of our friends and family. I'm not very comfortable being in the limelight so I wasn't certain how I would feel taking couples photos, but Renoda made it very fun and my husband and I look so happy and beautiful in every shot. We could not have felt more comfortable with any other photographer! Renoda was our first official photographer and will be our forever photographer (as long as she doesn't retire haha). She brought energy for all three of us, which we gladly borrowed as the session continued and our faces started to hurt from smiling. She was patient with us as we struggled to figure out our outfit changes. She was on for every minute of those two and a half hours, which was not only impressive but inspiring. When looking for a photographer, it was important to me to find someone who had experience with interracial couples with different skin tones. If there were only a ten star review for Renoda Campbell Photography! I had been photographed by this marvelous lady before but not for a life changing event like a romantic engagement. After seeing her lovely photos of other couples I knew I would chose her if the opportunity arose. Well, it did and the first thing I did was get on Renoda’s calendar. Renoda was so awesome to work with. She suggested the perfect place and time to take the photos. She was warm and friendly. My fiancé was relaxed and impressed by her professionalism and explanations. Renoda had arrived early and was prepared with sites for the photography session. Renoda has such a friendly attitude. She has us doing poses that we would never had thought of on our own. The photos were ready early, which made me happy. They are beautiful and truly capture both of our personalities. She is incredibly kind, thoughtful, fun, and intentional. She runs her business in line with her values of inclusion and diversity, which we share with her! Renoda has taken pictures of my family twice now and all her pictures are beautiful. I have 2 boys, 9 and 11 years old and they are hard to keep still and usually one looks at the camera while the other is acting goofy or looks away. But somehow she always gets some amazing shots of both of them. Renoda is an expert at getting them comfortable and capturing them naturally. What do you love most about your job?
I love working with the wedding couple. The excitement between the 2 of you is infectious. I want you to feel at ease. I love to see the love that you have between each other and to have the ability to capture the simple and quiet times as well as the louder times is what I love most.
What inspired you to start your own business?
Diversity is important in my photos. Diversity of the different types of weddings, and types of people. I am inspired by that personal connection and to see how all of us celebrate our love through our weddings.
Why should our clients choose you?
Clients should choose me because I truly CARE about the couple and it's my goal to make you feel COMFORTABLE during this somewhat stressful yet beautiful time in your lives. Yes, I will ask you to do certain poses, but my main focus is for you to concentrate on your partner. Look into their eyes and think of the future that you will share together. I want to capture that look, that smile and usually that kiss that follows.
What changes have you made to keep your customers safe from Covid-19?
Since I work in CA, if wear a mask indoors and outdoors. If I am not wearing a mask while outdoors, I keep a 6 foot distance between myself and guests and use a telephoto lens while shooting.
