We finally made it in this evening We ordered catfish, wings, mac & cheese, dressing & gravy, greens, candied yams. And yesssss. ....the wings and catfish were cooked to perfection! WOW....... The food here was amazing!! We got the fried tilapia, fried chicken, mac and cheese, greens w/ turkey, candied yams, fries and cornbread muffins. Everything was delicious!! The tilapia was seasoned and fried to perfection. The fried chicken breast was lightly breaded and so juicy.. all I can say is wow!! And on top of it all the service was great!! Heres my review on my meal. I had the catfish fillet combo with mac and red beans and rice a side order of smothered wings and fried okra. the combo was perfect everything cooked to my liking and mac and cheese was fire my smothered wings were drowning in gravy I would recommend to lighten up on the gravy especially if theres nothing to soak it up, i think they forgot my bread/cornbread I would love if it could be spicy or have some side peppers. The food was amazing. The only thing that has stopped me from going back is the extensive wait time. They do have a sign posted that food takes a bit to make but 40 mins for an order that was the 3rd order when they opened is a bit much. Not sure if they need to add two more cooks or figure out how to cook multiple orders at once but not to many people I know will wait that long for chicken wings. And they were out of hush puppies and peach cobbler right away ( two things we wanted to try) But if you have 40 mins or more to wait for food and then eat go try it! More...

I have been searching for a soul food restaurant for a very long time and came upon this place after searching once more on google. OMG!!! My husband and I went here yesterday 5/17/19 all the way from Saint Paul and let me tell you! YES!!! The food was ON POINT! It was a little wait and it is indeed worth it. It is also worth the drive from Saint Paul as well. I got the fried chicken wings, mac&cheese, yams, cabbage and hot water cornbread. My husband got pepper steak and rice with mac&cheese, fried okra and hot water cornbread. Everything was so good! I hope to try their greens next because that is what I initially wanted but they were out and the cabbage did not disappoint. It has a good spice flavor to them as well. Oh my where do I start, this place is a diamond in the rough. And I asked several people inside the restaurant if they eat here regularly and quite a few we're back for their second visit, and said everything is good there. So I had to see for myself, we were lucky enough to get here before they got busy. I ordered the catfish, with greens and macaroni, and for desert I ordered the strawberry cake. The place was nice, I loved the decor, the gal taking orders at the front was courteous and helpful which is a plus. I have to say I am not one that loves soul food that much, partly because I don't care for cornbread, and I do not eat pork or beef. I like that they had many options including a honey roll for those that don't like cornbread. I have honestly been to great restaurants and there were things I didn't really care for that much. This food is so delicious that every bite had me wanting more, and more. The food was seasoned to perfection, and it was truly amazing. This place here brings the south to Minnesota in its own special way.
