Lucile is the best interior designer I've ever worked with. She is knowledgeable, creative, and responsive. I found her through a trusted local group, and I knew from our first call that I wanted to work with her for my dream Eichler home. Lucile has a deep understanding of design principles and trends. She helped me to create a cohesive and stylish design for my home. The different rooms in my home all flow together seamlessly, and they all have a unique, stylish, and timeless feel. As is the nature of any construction project, there were a few hiccups along the way. However, Lucile went above and beyond to help correct them, even when the mistakes were not her responsibility. She was always willing to listen to my feedback, and she was always willing to work with me and my contractor to find solutions that met my needs. I wish I had hired Lucile much earlier when we started planning for the remodel. She is a true professional, and she is an artist with a great eye for design. We love Lucile. She has helped us during our remodel (Phase 1; we will definitely use her for Phase 2 as well). We cannot speak highly enough of Lucile and her services. When we first met, she listened, and quickly narrowed in on what we like and how the new space would look. She has been with us every step on designing dining and living room cabinetry, guided us through lighting, paint colors, décor, fixtures, shades. Everything. Not only did Lucile quickly grasp what we like, she took us to the next level and pointed out things we would never have thought of, and probably would never have even known about. She was a true expert who directed our attention to fewer things so we were not overwhelmed. What we ended up with surpassed anything we could have done on our own and was much better than we could have done. Working with Lucile was great. She is professional, super responsive in email and on the phone, always available. She is a fountain of knowledge and puts things together very quickly and knows where to look and where to buy. She is opinionated but also open and flexible based on our input. Lucile is also budget-minded. Not only does she pay attention to her hours and stay within our budget, she also pays attention to what she recommends to stay within our budget. We did not expect this, but she passed on her designer discounts to us saving us money so we could get better quality material than we initially thought, staying within our budget. This made a big difference. We started with a low budget and small scope in Phase 1, but expanded the scope quickly when we realized how awesome she is. I hired her for bathroom design. She gave half-baked design which I personally had to revise with contractors on site. When I had issues finding fixtures from her preferred sources and suggested other options from other sources she abandoned the project in midst of construction. She charges high rate for her services, but obviously this is insufficient for her as it seems she gets kick-backs from her sources. I have worked with Lucile Glessner on multiple home renovations and one new residential project over the past 11 years -- I keep coming back because of her amazing design advice, her deep hands-on experience, and her superb ability to recommend brands and vendors that match my unique aesthetic. Lucile's pricing is fair, especially since she is able to get discounted pricing from many vendors and design houses. The idea that she gets "kickbacks" (suggested by a lone review) is both absurd and offensive for a designer of Lucile's caliber and integrity. In my long relationship with her, I've particularly admired Lucile's commitment to continued education in sustainable design, which increasingly informs the choices I make in my home. As I am a neighbor of Lucile's, I waited with anticipation to see the finished product of her own kitchen remodel. The end result of her unique design thought process surpassed any kitchen remodels that I have seen anywhere. I know that her love for her work has taken her to designer showrooms, i.e., mid-century modern, Italian and French, contributing to her talents. Lucile (as well as her colleague Eve) is an absolute treasure! * Look at the photos of her work! She has an unbelievable creative eye. I live in an Eichler and she is particularly fond of midcentury modern, so this was a great fit. * She is intuitive - she quickly understood my vision and priorities and used her creativity to design a beautiful outcome with them in mind. She didn't push her agenda, but she steered me in the right direction when I veered away from my priorities or was headed towards a decision that didn't make sense. * She is do-er - she gets stuff done, now - and makes sure everyone else does too. Speaking of which * She is unbelievably responsive and organized, and kept my project running like clockwork. In my case I didn't have the time or knowledge to manage the project so this was a godsend to me. She will be as involved or uninvolved as you want/need. She would always check in with me as to how much I wanted her to stay involved. Speaking of which * Fantastic communication skills -- she always kept me informed of what was going on. * She has a wide network of service providers and vendors that she has worked with (all of whom rave about her!) - she doesn't insist that you work with them (as many designers do), but being able to talk to them or shop with them and compare made my life much easier. What’s your interior design process?
We structure the whole process through phases with our clients. From programming, space planning and design to the selection of materials, finishes, fixtures. As needed we provide full construction documents for permitting and 3D drawings for visualization. We also help with furniture, accessories and art selections.
Which interior design styles can you cater for?
We specialize in contemporary and modern design. However we also help in historic preservation and restoration. We will work on projects that are true to an architectural style whatever it may be.
What do you love most about your job?
We are passionate about our work and helping people navigate the difficult design and construction process. We see ourselves as educators and guides. We like to provide our expertise while working as a team. We do not impose but we help with the function and flow for a cohesive space where people can work and live in a healthy and pleasant way.
What inspired you to start your own business?
After going back to school for interior design as a later and new career, it seemed the right thing to do. I had defined my own style and purpose through my international experience and my deep interest in sustainability and biophilic design.
